Then try to consult an agent to compare yung understanding mo kung sakto ba. Magbibigay ng quote sayo ang agent depende sa case mo like single applicant or family ba. Sa case ko ganyan ginawa ko I've spent two weeks ng pagbabasa sa DIBP website (now DHA na dati ay DIAC) and then consult with an agent.... Natagalan ako sa pagdecide to go with an agent or not kasi medyo malaki yung quoted price (for family of 3 150k at that time 2015) and I eventually do it by myself. Ang kagandahan lang sa agent di ka worried kung tama ba ang ginagawa mo or not dahil alam nila the whole process tapos iaasure ka rin ng agent na once mainvite ka ay makakakuha ka ng visa unless lang di ka pumasa sa medical... so ang role mo lang talaga kung may agent ka is to gather required documents, prepare for assessment, at attend ng medical check. Advantage it kapag busy ka sa work, family, or business. Tsaka halos karamihan ng agent sa pinas may support sa English Test, tutulungan ka nila na maachieve yung desired score mo to get the invitation... Sa assessment naman marami silang reference halimbawa CRD for Engineers Australia, so di ka na mahihirapan... Syempre magbabayad ka sa service nila... In case naman DIY ang gagawing mo, tambay ka dito sa forum maraming tutulong sa iyo na DIY din.. ang advantage lang naman ng DIY ay access sa account mo like EOI or Immi or sa Assessing Authority like EA... Ang downside lang ng DIY is time na kailangan mo to understand the whole process, kaya tanong-tanong din sa forum pag may time... Goodluck po...

@Pongyou03 Rules change all the time, even the migration agents in this forum have difficulties keeping track of the changes. As @dorbsdee said, you need to spend time to really understand the whole process. You'll have to keep track of the changes (which can be anytime) regarding immigration policies. If you will be migrating in 2 years, you have plenty of time to prepare (skills assessments, English tests, visa application fees, etc).

@Pongyou03 ayos yan... Again, Goodluck..

@Pongyou03 as a migration agent myself, I would advice you not to wait until 2 years. You can start the process now and even if say you get your visa granted before 2 years, you don't have to leave Philippines for good. You can just enter Australia before the specified entry date expires just to get your visa activated, go back to Philippines and finish your obligations with work then do the big move. You've got 5 years from the time of visa grant to use it so just make sure you leave at least 2 years into that visa to move so you can qualify for a resident return visa before your visa expires.

Using an agent is an individual choice. If you want peace of mind, then for sure engaging an agent addresses this issue.

This forum is quite helpful when you opt for DIY but be careful of the information you choose to take in as any info remains a hearsay until validated by a professional or came from the actual legislation. I honestly find at times meron din inaccuracy of information ako nababasa dito sa forum so sometimes I can't refrain myself from posting my thoughts with the intention to help the readers dahil baka mapamali ang diskarte. To be honest, no case are ever the same. Each is very individual not because certain things apply to one it follows na it applies to all so be very careful with your research.

From my personal experience with my own migration journey, people can give you advice on the process but I can assure you, you'll never feel that peace of mind even if you believe you've followed everything by the book until you get the information straight from a professional.

    All the best!

@athelene yes rules change constantly. However, agents do have the right resources to keep up with the changes. I don't think I would agree with having plenty of time to prepare as there is always the urgency to start the process now than later. I believe any agent will say the same.

@RheaMARN1171933 I stand corrected then on my comment about agents being able to keep up with the changes. But what I meant about having plenty of time is that preparing documents to lodge an EOI can take time, especially if the DIY route is taken instead of getting a migration agent, or if documents have to be acquired from abroad. I do agree that the migration process does need to be initiated as soon as possible, but consider the possibility that there are cases that would legally could prevent an applicant to lodge visa applications right away (like a scholarship or work contract), hence the need to wait until these legal contracts expire before even attempting to migrate.

@athelene well work contract nor scholarship do not prevent you from getting the process started. You're only just doing the skills assessment process to begin with. And even applying for the actual visa, I don't understand why legally you are prevented from doing such action. You said it right, it's only the attempt to migrate and there is nothing wrong with that. E employed pa rin naman yung tao so I don't think you've breached anything here. I have not heard of a bond sa employment which forbids you from making plans for the future. Ang alam ko, kaya nga tawag bond is because you're bound to finish your employment obligations with the employer up to a certain date or may penalty. I may be wrong or perhaps you know better with regards to work contracts and scholarships? So far sa professional experience ko, wala pa naman ako na-encounter as such na bawal magplano dahil may legal obligations pa yung aspiring migrant.

@RheaMARN1171933 I appreciate you taking the time to reply here, and I do not mean to challenge your expertise as a migration agent (peace po). I'm sorry, maybe I was not saying it clearly or correctly, but what I meant earlier was about the waiting to actually applying for the PR visa, not about the preparation. I did agree to your point that starting the migration process as early as possible is recommended to allow sufficient time for skill assessment and document preparation (and that's exactly what I'm doing as per your suggestion). And yes, there's nothing wrong with planning ahead. If @Pongyou03 or other aspiring migrants with employment bonds have no legal restrictions to applying for PR visas, then by all means, they should go for it. My comment was simply based on my knowledge and experience with a scholarship contract that prevents me from applying for a PR visa while the scholarship is in effect.

@batman In my case, wala naman restriction regarding my student visa, yung scholarship ko lang ang may restriction na ganun.

@athelene if scholarship forbids you to apply for PR visa, I don't see how that's related to my previous comment.

My own thoughts lang, I think when it comes to sharing information on this forum, we all should be mindful of what information we all provide in here because it comes with responsibility e. Marami nagbabasa and baka ma mislead yung readers and mapamali. I think if we're not sure about the accuracy of the information we're all going to share, best not to share na Lang. Kahit ako mismo, hindi ko naman memorise yung entire legislation ng Australian immigration law, from time to time I also feel the need to refer to my professional library. The information I share here sa forum, more general info, kapag detailed question na, I'd rather address it privately kasi baka maka mislead sa ibang readers :)

@batman it all depends on the condition placed on the visa the applicant is holding. So when a client in Australia comes to me for advice, I need to check first the conditions on his visa kasi this will determine the course of action

@Pongyou03 all documents must be certified for ACS not just the employment reference letter.
