Skilled Occupation Work for Secondary Applicants

Hello to PAU members.

I'm a first timer at the forum and a Filipino I.T. Expat at Malaysia.

I will be the Primary Applicant for an Australian Visa and my wife as the Secondary Applicant.

I'm planning to have the Secondary Applicant take the IELTS and Skill Assessment to claim 5 points and a possibility to find a Skilled Occupation (Pre-School Teacher) for my wife.

If I opted-out not to claim 5 points, can the Secondary Applicant apply work on a Skilled Occupation?

For all the Secondary Applicants, can you please share your experience if you are currently working on a Skilled Occupation but the Primary Applicant did not get the Partner Skills points.

Maraming Salamat.

    1) The visa is granted based on the merit fo the primary applicant, additional points lang ang partner's points

    2) Pag approved na ang visa, especially kung PR, you, your secondary and other dependents can do any work in AU.. wala na pong restriction yun kung ano ang gusto nyo work pagdating dun..

    3) you and your dependents can do any job, not necessarily kung anu ang nominated occupation nyo..

    4) like most of new migrants, while looking for the job based on your expertise and skills, you can do any work to support your expenses (odd jobs)..

    @charley no problem..

the logic is, if you have enough points (60pts passmark), and you really dont need the 5 pts,
don't waste time/money on IELTS and assessment for partner's skills..

All price in AUD
    Main applicant - 3060
    Dependent applicant (above 18) - 1530
    Dependent applicant (below 18) - 765

2nd installment for dependent who doesnt have functional english:
    4250

ANZSCO code 263111: Computer Network and System Engineer
    April 11, 2013 - lodge 189 visa - 75pts
    April 19, 2013 - CO allocated, Brisbane Team33
May 6, 2013 - Medical submitted by SATA
May 15, 2013 - uploaded NBI, SG PCC and Form 80
June 19, 2013 - Visa Granted. Thank you Lord!
September 2013 - Hubby got a Job (while we are still in SG)
