(1) weekend drive - something i was deprived off when i was working in singapore...
(2) cooking/baking - fresh amd good ingredients in australia, all you need is practice and patience. plus it will ease budget of eating take aways plus pwede rin ito maging kumikitang kabuhayan if we are really very good at it.
(3) walking around the city (melbourne) - wifey and i are huge fans of walking; with melbourne being a very dynamic and multi-cultural city, am sure the side streets of the city will be interesting for the next few yrs.

Para sa akin, life in Australia is a lot simplier compared to what I have been used to in the Philippines. Nature tripping kasi malimit na ginagawa ng mga tao. Maramin malalaking parks unlike sa atin na ang Malls ang ginagawa nating parks.
Maaga nag sasara ang mga malls and shops dito, except on Thursdays. Generally, malls and shops close at 5:00 pm. However, meron din mga resto and bars sa CBD na open hanggang hating gabi if that is what you like.
During weekdays, people are usually in a hurry to go home after work either to pick up their kids from the Child Care Center or dahil walang nag luluto para sa kanila lalo na for those with kids, unlike sa atin na may mga nag luluto for us (which is what I miss in the Philippines)
People always look forward to weekends as they have a lot of places to explore. For a start, you can try checking the following sites:

Also, do not bring in pirated cds/dvds. A friend had an officemate who brought pirated dvds from overseas. Pinalampas sa airport but after a few days pinuntahan sa bahay ng anti piracy agents at binilang lahat ng pirated cds and dvds and then got fined for a hefty $20k. Hangang ngayon nag babayad pa rin.

Telstra - d/l as much as you can in any way (http, tor, etc). no letters. but i heard na mag-iimplement sila ng 'deep-packet' inspection sa Melbourne area as a trial.
TPG - be careful with certain tor as you'll definitely get a letter of warning and configure it to go straight to your spam folder. i haven't heard of 3 strikes rule sa aus, sa US ata lang yun.
iinet - nasa news ito na they will not disclose customer user information sa mga movie companies and they won the lawsuit. -> Hard disk plus encryption

If you're a shopper like me, yung Surfer's Paradise, tawag ko dun Shopper's Paradise hehe! May recent addiction ako, Harbour town in Gold Coast.
But if you're not naman... naku, sobrang daming pwedeng gawin. Nature Parks are free, beaches abound. May theater plays, movie marathon, eating out.
