Applying for a Student Visa Onshore while on Tourist Visa

Hi! May I know kung meron dito nakapag-try mag apply ng student visa while in Australia as a tourist? My friend is in Australia kasi in her tourist visa and planning to apply for a student visa habang nandun sya. Her sister and brother-in-law will be sponsoring her studies. May nababasa kasi kami that the home affairs/immigration doesn’t like this approach. Pero yung iba naman na-grant. Please share your experiences and how your application turned out. Thanks po!
