Student visa kasi is allowed to work only part time,20 hours/week lang. and kung may employer na mag sposponsor ang chance lang pra maging working visa ang status.

kung depedant sya kung anu yung visa mo ganun din visa nya. di sya puede mag full time sa work 20 hours/week ang allowed sa kanya at kung di ako nagkakamali kapag school holiday lang puede sya sumobra sa 20 hours a week. Kung nakahanap sya ng work at kung payag ang company na i-sponsoran sya at ang skilled nya eh nasa listahan ng skilled immigration ang aapplyan nya ay working visa kpag nagkaroon sya nun puede sya mag full time sa work.

If nasa SOL list nman ung skill, pwede i applay ng skilled visa like 175 or 176.

I've been on a student visa before between 1997-2001. One change I noticed is yun sa work permit, before upon approval ng student visa, automatic meron ka na agad work permit. But now wala na. You need to go muna sa university/college mo then apply for a work permit. Usually about a week makukuha mo na once approved. Same pa din 20 hours/week limit. Madali lang naman makahanap work dun, in my case before, I applied sa mga job agencies like Select Appointments, etc. They are the ones that will contact you kapag meron part time jobs na matching sa skills mo. For example data entry kasi mabilis ka magtype. Some of my friends naman, they worked part time as care givers. Madami naman pwede trabaho for student visa holders, not bad din yun compensation pangdagdag din sa daily expenses. :)

Hi Paula, I used to hold a Student Dependant Visa. During that time, Im only allowed to work 20 hours a week even during school holidays and also even after my wife completed her studies because I was still under Student Dependant Visa. Before our visa expired, we applied for Skilled Graduate Visa 485 and we were given Bridging Visa A while waiting for the decision. Since my substantive visa, which is Student Dependant Visa, was still not expired, I still couldn't work more than 20 hours. I had to wait until my Student Dependant Visa expired so that my Bridging Visa A could take effect and then I could work full time. What I'm saying here to answer your question is that it is possible for your husband to get a working visa as long as he can find an employer who is willing to sponsor him.
Just an advice, your husband must have a valid working visa first before he can work full time. It will be too risky not to follow the visa restrictions especially if you want to apply for Permanent Residency. It may affect the decision of your PR application if they find out that you didn't comply with your previous visa restrictions.

Kung magaaral kayo, check niyo yung bagong Skilled Occupations List. Importante na nandun yung pagaaralan mo sa list, if not, di rin kayo makaka apply ng independent visa. The alternative optiona would be to check ENSOL for employer nomination, or State Sponsored Occupations List for State Sponsorship.

Mga in demand ngayon ay Teaching, Accounting and some Medical occupations. Better check the new SOL sa immigration website muna to make sure nasa list pa yung skill na aapplyan niyo. Advise ko lang rin na mas maganda ang Bachelors Degree or Masters kung magaaral kayo dito kesa Vocation diploma or certificate dahil mas mahigpit na ang TRA (Trades Recognition Australia) ngayon. Research research muna kayo on your own before you consult with an agency or agent para may idea narin kayo and mas maintindihan niyo sila kapag nagconsult kayo sa kanila.

Another thing is mas mahal ang cost of living sa New South Wales (Sydney) compared to other States, kaya research niyo rin ng mabuti kung san location niyo rin gustong mag-aral. Good luck!

By the way, make sure you're looking at the right Skilled Occupations List (yung most recent and updated). Yung ENSOL for employer sponsorship lang yun. Yung State Skilled Occupations List for State Sponsorship naman. So may mga alternative options kayo kung sakaling di kayo magquality for Independent migration (not an easy path pero kaya kung talagang determined kayo).

No worries. BS Computer Engineering degree ko from Phils. Luckily, I currently have my company to sponsor me for 457, then 856 (ENS). Matagal sobra ang processing time ng 175 kasi priority 4 yun. Base sa mga nababasa ko sa forums and agencies, tatapusin muna ng immigration yung processing ng priority 1, 2 and 3 bago sila magstart ng processing ng priority 4. I have friends from the Philippines who applied for 175 visa since 2008 but wala pa result until now. I would suggest that your husband should try applying online baka makaswerte siya since in demand yung skill niya. Or if kaya ng budget niyo, possible din na mag student ka then dependent mo siya but the thing is limited yung time allowed for both of you to work. Pero mas madali makahanap ng work if nandito na kayo compare sa nasa overseas kayo kasi hindi na poproblemahin ng employer yung pag-asikaso ng papers at gastos papunta dito. Also, kailangan matiyaga kayo maghanap ng work kasi swertihan pa rin. If swertehin makahanap ng work at employer na magsponsor habang nandito kayo, pwede naman maconvert yung visa to 457 (working visa) kahit hindi pa expire yung student visa. Kung mahirapan kayo makahanap ng work mapipilitan talaga kayong mag 485 (Skilled Graduate) para ma extend lang yung stay dito which means more time to look for employer to sponsor you. Goodluck!

The 457 visa is the most commonly used program for Australian or overseas employers to sponsor skilled " OVERSEAS WORKERS" to work in Australia temporarily.

Goodluck

Meron naman siguro like baby sitting, or paglilinis ng garden and such. Pero kasi risky kasi violation ng student visa work restriction yun. Ako personally I wouldn't risk having a bad record sa immigration especially if you have future plans sa Aussie.

@ejexica if u r in the phil, it is better to contact idp there and they will guide you through the whole process. The good news for those who want to apply for student visa is that there is no need to provide show money like before. But you have to study in a university listed by australian immigration and you have to take bachelors degree or masters. PM me if u hav any other questions. I'm happy to help
