    @IslanderndCity ung TFN, magapply ka rin ng online...then may darating na sulat sayo stating ur TFN number, mga within two weeks or less un...pero you can call them to ask the TFN number kung sakaling need mo na ng TFN...

    then pwde mo na ilink ung TFN sa mygov account mo...

    @dhey_almighty - contrary to what was mentioned by @Milkan, you can actually open a superannuation account even before wala ka pa job...

    You can actually dictate which super company to use and likewise you can do a voluntary contribution even before wala ka pa sweldo.

    company ang nag co contribute ng superannuation para sa yo. sa ngayon nasa 9.25% ng salaray mo (before tax) ang contribution nila sa mga superannuation companies.
    hi guys, I was able to create my super acct kahit wala pa ako work noon. though wala sya magiging laman hangga't wala kang work, plus nde activated ung acct without the initial funds from your employer. also, beg. July 14, 9.5% na ang Super.

    Also, I read before about any excess in super will be taxed. Kung may limit ang super, how will individual end up exceeding the super contri? Sa SG kse you will never exceed the limit kse even if malaki sahod, employers' max contri will be up to the ceiling only.

    You can't do this BECAUSE when you apply for a TFN, you will be required to put in your passsport AND the system of the ATO can be able to detect whether or not you are currently in Australia (by virtue of your passport)...

    Just do it upon arrival; it will be very quick and easy!

    i didn't bother applying sa centrelink...

    I did, and honestly it was a waste of time. And I applied pa at the Centrelink office in one of the lowest income suburbs in NSW (Mt Druitt) kaya ang tagal kong naghintay dahil sobrang daming tao tapos wala naman pala silang maitutulong. I think I just went there because I was curious.

    The only thing they did was set up an appointment for me with one of the government-funded employment agencies. You have to attend this appointment to be eligible (after the waiting period) for the new start allowance. Anyway, at the agency, they simply collected my resume and made me fill out a form. The guy explained that they prioritise those who really are in need of jobseeking assistance, e.g. disabled, those who underwent rehab, those who were out of jobs for a long time, etc. Anyway, at least nalaman ko hehe

    On the other hand, I understand that if you have kids then you get some form of family assistance allowance. This didn't apply to me.
