Where do you plan to stay in OZ, and why?

Among the many overlapping factors that we have read from different sites and the obvious "I have no idea as I haven't been there" factor, how do you plan in choosing where to go on your first arrival in OZ?

    I heard many good opportunities for Perth specially if you will be joining the sprawling mining industry. The only thing I find not so good there is it is almost detached from the rest due to it's location.

    I heard ok ang Sydney kasi anlapit ng beach sa central business district...so parang kung nagsasawa ka na sa trabaho puwede ka magunwind anytime sa beach.

    Ok din daw ang Perth lalo na sa mga Chinoy. May malaking community raw ng Filipino-Chinese dun hehe

    Nice! pray ko makakuha ka kaagad ng work sa Perth at magustuhan mo dyan. Tama sa couch ka or share ka ng ibang pwedeng matuluyan, sana mapabuti ka dyan. Regards, kay Christmarie...oops! at wag naughty.

    Kainggit naman noon pa man gusto ko dyan sa Perth pero mukhang hindi dyan ang palad namin.

    12/10/11 - Hubby IELTS first take at BC result L & R-5.5, W & S-6.0 OBS=6.0 retake!!!
    12/30/11- Hubby registered at 9.0 Niners.
    03/15/14 - Hubby's comeback at 9.0 Niners preparing for IELTS test. Second attempt for Australian visa.
    05/12/14 - Complete uploading of ACS skills assessment required documents and payment made thru direct deposit.
    05/12/14 - ACS assessment application received.
    07/02/14 - ACS skills assessment result suitable ANZCO code 262113 Systems Administrator as recommended by CO for hubby's job description rather than ANZCO 261311 Analyst Programmer the first ACS ANZCO result suitable released in 2011. I conclude ACS reclassifies ICT Occupations.
    - Work exp. 12yrs. less 6yrs deduction by ACS.
    - Educ. Qualification assessed as AQF Associate Degree major in computing for a 4yr. course BS. Computer Science in a section 2 school.

    hello guys! just a quick question. i don't think i need to create a new thread for a simple thing.

    i have been granted a PR visa last month and until now haven't done the visa stamping yet. do we have a deadline for this?

    oh btw, heading to sydney on the 4th week of may 2012, maybe because the 1st time i saw her, she was all over me. nyahahaha! kidding aside, i have a cousin & an ex-ofcmate who will help me to start things off. good luck to everyone here.

    Hi Sir @kenkoy! There's a thread po for Pre-departure Requirements. :) But to answer your questions:

    1) Ang kelangan is anytime before you leave to Australia is may visa stamp na yung passport mo and ng dependents mo who are migrating with you.
    2) You need to attend also the Pre-departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) sa Commission on Filipino Overseas (CFO) and then have your passport stamped with a CFO sticker. If you have migrants who are between 13-19 years old, they need to attend the Peer Counselling Seminar.     pero walang deadline ung visa stamping, like 28 days DIAC rule on submission, right? pwede ba na 1st week of may ako mag pa stamp sa one corporate plaza office? thanks again.

    @kenkoy, kelan po ba flight nyo to Au? Mas maganda at least mga 1 month before ng scheduled flight mo is nakapagpa-visa stamp na kyo pati mga dependents mo.

    hello mate jclem! sorry for the late reply. just needed to sort things out before leaving for sydney.

    so meaning walang deadline para magpa visa stamping sa VIAC, right? so anytime pwede kahit one week before my visa expires pwede magpa stamp. visa granted was last march 13. i am planning to have it stamped on april 24 and leave on last week of may. thanks, mate!

    Kung palarin ang GSM 175 ko, sa Sydneeeh sana kasi marami na ako kinontrata dun para matulugan while looking for a place and medyo marami dun in terms of job opportunities sa field ko. Saka plano ko rin mag aral sa UNSW (puro plano! plano! plano!)

    Yung pina close friend ko talaga nasa Brisbane at nagmamakaawa sila na mag brisbane na lang ako at aampunin nila ako pero di ko pa na re-research in terms of job opportunities.

    second choice ko siguro ang Melbourne.

    Haaay darating kaya ako sa stage na ito?

    All my relatives are in Sydney (Brother and Sisters) but I am here in SA because of State Sponsorship. Before sabi ko matapos lang ang 2 years, I will move in Sydney but after a month working here I am beginning to like this state already.

    Great job & benefits, nice co-workers, affordable cost of living and no traffic.

    May "Sydney Traffic" daw...yun na ata pinakamalala pero wala raw yun binatbat sa rush hour natin sa EDSA hehehe...hay Pilipinas nga naman :(

    Umulan kanina dito nagtraffic din pero kaunti lang. Wala talagang binatbat yung traffic sa EDSA sawang sawa ako dyan lalo na way ko Bacoor to Makati everyday.

    Enjoy na talaga ako dito. I'm driving my dream car sa Phil but ang the best part is I did not touch my salary to own it, may tax benefits where I used my tax to pay for my car.

    I don't think I will move in Sydney after 2 years.
