Did they directly tell you that they require local experience? If you've worked with different overseas projects you can mention that in your interview. Like if you're doing support to onshore team, etc. And yes, prayers and more prayers. :)

Agree with them. Prayers can move mountains. Ako 4mos bago nagka work. Internal networking if dika pinapansin ng mga recruiters. ;-)

agree ako dito, "Polish your resume, polish your interview skills - important confident ka magsalita.".

I suggest dagadagan mo ng "can do" attitude.

    Salamat po sa mga comments.
    Indeed, prayers can move mountains.

I think ok naman po ung resume ko, kasi pinapansin naman po ako ng mga companies/recruiters at may interviews naman po ako. Kaso sa past interviews ko, un ung comment nila - that they prefer someone with local experience. Anyway, i just hope na hindi lahat ng companies ganun. =)

@wizardofOz, Referees can be in Australia or overseas. They will call your referees even they are overseas. Some of them might ask a good time to call the person that will give reference so aabisuhan mo na yung referee mo na that time eh may tatawag. Kasi if the miss some of them hindi na tatawag ulit. They will leave voice messages and yung referee mo ang tatawag sa kanila.

@vhoythoy, the are not so fussy when it comes to referees. Seldom they will ask your immediate manager or your current manager. They understand that you are looking for new position so they will not ask for managers.

sa singapore ako nanggaling kaya yung dalawang boss ko sa singapore yung binigay kong referees. and yes, my prospective employer then (now my employer) really called them. kaya dapat talaga you advise your referees beforehand.

Normally twice lang ang interview dito (in IT) not sure with other fields. First one will be getting to know the applicant, the second is the make or break, mas malaki ang chance na mahire pag hiningi ang referees mo. Kasi at this stage 2 or 3 people lang ang pinagpipilian according to HR managers that I asked. Also, mas maganda if all of your referees will give a positive feedback. Kahit hindi immediate supervisor mo ok lang sa kanila unless they requested it.

Hi @pinoykiwi_inOZ SOP ba sa Oz na humihungi at tinatawagan lagi yung referees.. or may companies na ihhire ka na lang agad after a few interviews, even for professional-level positions.

@wizardofOz, Not sure if there are companies that will hire you without calling or emailing your referees. In my experience tinatawagan talaga nila kahit na saan pa yung referees mo. Pag hindi nila na reach yung referees mo few of the will inform you that they can't hold on to the person you gave them so they might ask another referees but some of head hunters might consider other applicant's that has referees available and you miss the job offer. So kailangan talagang abisuhan mo yung nga referees mo na saguting ang calls or emails.

Ah thanks for that info @pinoykiwi_inOZ another question, is it also the same in Oz that initially, we will not list down the referees in the CV we will send out and just state "available upon request"... or should we just write it down?

Also, ang tricky pala ng referees, for example, I don't expect to land an engineering job right away, so I just thought for example I will be applying for a blue-collar job or maybe as an office worker (e.g clerk, admin assistant) then the referees I will provide are Engineering Directors.. parang dapat mag-match din yung referees sa job I am applying for, otherwise baka isipin over-qualified ako
