Hi po mga kapatid.... ask ko lang sana kasi we plan to move to Oz on June. tamang-tama school holiday ng anak namin na 13 years old this year (Secondary 1) in Singapore. Pwede kaya cya as transferee sa Melbourne? bale continuation lang sana for Secondary 1? Hope someone can give us information and suggestions regarding this matter po.

In genaral, school year is from Feb to Dec. and most enrollments are 1 year in advance especially for transferees.

However education is a must in Australia, I think they will accommodate you and let your kid join school this year (saling pusa lang)... then by end of term Dec or start of term Feb, students will undergo assessments and then depends on their english competencies, may possibility na paulitin sila ng Junior High next year. (this is for public schools)
and your choice of public school will depend on your address (suburb), each suburb is allocated a school. Priority nila is to enroll students on within their suburbs, pag over quota na, then they will ask you to look for the next nearest school.

for private schools, pila pila po ang application lalo na yung mga popular schools.

Vhonixki: Do you have an update? Ganun din magiging problem namin, mga Nov/Dec timeframe kami lilipat sa MEL after my son's PSLE. A bit stuck on how to find school and area.

@davidlt this might help you find the ranking of schools na malapit sa suburbs nyo.. I used this noong naghanap ako ng schools para sa mga anak ko.. http://bettereducation.com.au/

in terms of admission... flexible naman ang mga schools dito sa Australia specially yung mga public schools.. medyo strict lang siguro sila sa Y11 and Y12.. kasi HSC years na yan..
