PR Granted - Money needed to prepare before moving to Melbourne Australia

Hi Everyone,

How much money do you need to prepare to at least secure yourself and family for 3 month worth of job hunting in AU, if you have a PR visa? Lets say sa Melbourne, how much money on hand meron ka once you land in AU.

    try mo open mo and register s careerone or seek.com.au agency looking for jobs for u....me ibang company kung mkita nila resume mo for hire k, un iba sila ang ssgot ng airfare with 2weeks stay s hotel...then bhla kn for next couple of days to look for u and family.

    share kolng kaopismate ko dito s singapore...PR sila,then apply ng apply c hubby till mkkita ng company before n pumunta sila ng perth,nkkita at sinagot ng company un planes ticket nila...un ibang visa me initial entry nman,pwede punta kau just search s location,s pgkuha ng house and school mga bata.

    pero kung pupunta n kayo and look for job,pwede rin.

    10K pa lang kasi pera ko, umpisahan ko na mag-ipon ngayon till next year :D

    Depende yan kung saan location mu balak tumira, sa central district, w/in 5km ng cbd or w/in 10km or outer suburbs. Prepare for rental cost of $300-500/week, +rental bond of 1month worth. Food for $100-150/week. Transpo (depende kung saan ka) but prepare at least 50/week. Kuryente, probably 100-150month. Water bill (depende sa rental agreement). Entertainment 100-200 (+ticket costs) a night (dine out, movie/theatre).

    Be aware na karamihan ng mga employer nag iinterview lang ng face to face. There are some who can do it over the phone but only a handful that I know.

    yup, for couple $10k is enough. even i think for family of 3. First 2 months nio expect na masyadong magastos kc u have to buy lots of things...agreed sa figures given by Davidx23, but u can cut it down since expected na as newly arrive migrants u r careful sa budget. u can cut out entertainment fully, ung kuryente naman kapag shared accomodation kasama na xa sa rent. for 2 bedroom apartment dito sa melbourne, u can get a decent house for $300/week. ung sa food naman, hindi na din masyadong tipid ang $100/week including basic kitchen stuff and toiletries. kaya yan! do the move! :))

    @stolich18 pack lunch.. its by choice.. wala naman kanin/ulam sa resto so microwave ko na lang sa pantry ang lunch ko.. hehe. i often eat sa harap ng computer and they dont mind at all...

    @faye yep mahal sa sydney.. but 10k is not bad for a couple since may accomod na kayo. Pero kung wala kang kilala.. mabilis lang ang 10k i think bec of the rent. Pero dont get discouraged that you need more and more money to prepare... its the diligence and will to survive..

    it is not entirely limit naman; if you want to bring $10K there is no problem with that as long as you declare it properly.

    however, who would want to bring that huge amount of money diba? baka mawala pa...

    Naku LokiJr hindi yata uubra pagka gwapings mo na dito. Ako nga eh sabi daw ng kapitbahay ko sa Pinas noon. Ang guapo ko daw puede daw ako mag artista kaya lapitan ako nun eh ng mga girls. Pero nung nag migrate na ako dito nalaman ko kaya pala walang nagkakagusto sa akin na girls dito kasi daw naging ordinary na lang daw ang itsura ko. :D acheche.... :D
