Engineering Course with Programming Experience

Hi People.. I am currently working as Analyst Programmer and an engineering graduate.

I want to apply for Visa 175 which is independent migrant.

I would like to know if there is a minimum number of years of experience for me to able to start my application and if there is a need for me to do the RPL.

Has anyone here in the same situation as mine?

sir, ano po ang specific na engineering course nyo. kung ECE kayo like me, di na po kelangan mag-RPL. considered sya ng ACS as an ICT course. 🙂

@hotshot, I agree. Equivalent sya sa Bachelor's degree pero 4 years dapat experience mo. ECE po ako.

Thanks sa responses... yup ECE po ako... Nabuhayan ulit ako.. dapat pala last year pa ako nag-apply. Naabutan pa tuloy ako ng skill select.. Anyways, puede ko po ba malaman kung saang reference ko makikita yung clause na ang ECE ay ICT course.. Thanks

wala po akong nakitang clause about ECE as ICT talaga. Pero based po sa mga posts dito at sa experience ko rin, accepted po sya ng ACS as an ICT Bachelor's degree course with major in computing. Ingat po kayo sa pag calculate ng years of experience. By month po ang computation nila. Ex. April 2011 - April 2012 =1 year (instead of 1 year and 1 mo.). So make sure nyo po na 4 years yung experience nyo para pasado.

Paano pong hindi 100% in-line?, afaik IC design is very much an ECE job. This time po, Engineers Australia po yung assessing body. Any ECE pips in OZ here?

naku sorry confusing ata question ko. I mean ung experience ko is not really the company needs bihira kasi ata sa au ang IC design. most electronics companies there are board level design.

@caleb - i think marami nmn ang lumilipat sa Au.. and then will start working na hindi in-line ang previous work experiences...

My suggestion is for you too look into different AU jobsites.. and do some research...

If you think most of the jobs there are closely related versus your skills.. then thats good..

Otherwise, you need to take the risk and decide why do you want to go to AU.. there must be some other reasons (esp those with long term benefits/effects)..

@olrac183 - i think ECE lang ang considered as an ICT bachelor's degree... tinitingnan nila ang course content.. check mo sa ACS ang guidelines..

IE ako at nagtry din ako mag pa assess sa ACS.. pero sinabi nga nila na hindi daw ICT course so I need to do ung RPL..

@lock_code2004 , ako naman electrical engineering graduate. Di ako sigurado kung pwede ma-consider as ICT yung degree ko, so may kutob ako na i-require ang RPL sa assessment ko. Pero iniisip ko na mag submit muna ng application para malaman kung kailangan nga ang RPL sa case ko.

Tungkol doon sa sinabi mo na kailangan mong mag-submit ng RPL, nalaman mo lang ba ito nung pagkatapos mong i-submit yung mga documents sa ACS?

may information naman sa website ng ACS kung ano/sino ang kailangan ng RPL, i think based on number of IT courses in your curriculum.. although my hint na ako na kailangan ko ng RPL.. nag matigas ulo lang ako.. hehe..

I have more than 4 yrs of Business Analyst experience implementing MRPs, nagemail ako sa knila.. pinaliwanag ko.. na hindi nmn technical ung Business Analyst job, at hindi kailangan ng too much IT courses (hindi naman kmi programmer)... as IE sinabi ko na MRP analysis and implementation is one of our core specializations... at mapapatunayan ko un sa mga courses namin + ung mga minor IT subjects..

but in the end, sympre hindi nmn sila makikinig..haha.. binase pa rin nila ang decision nila sa rule nila na certain % of IT courses in your curriculum to be considered your degree as an IT degree... In the end, nagemail ulit ako sa knila, challenging them to check how many IEs are in the IT industry...

in your case, maybe EE can also be consired as an IT degree based on their definition..

but most of the cases I've read... ECE is considered...

Hindi pa. Hinahanda ko pa lang yung mga required documents at evidences bago ko magpasa. Iniisip ko nga din na kumuha ng vendor certification para madagdagan credentials ko (at para siguradong hindi ko na kailangan gumawa ng RPL).

Oo nga, so far wala pa ako alam na EE grad na kumuha ng skills assessment sa ACS, kaya wala akong idea kung ano chances ko na i-require pa ang RPL. Malalaman panigurado pag nag submit na ako.

hello fellow engineering graduates. i am also facing the same dilemma. i am a chemical engineering graduate and I know that this means that I have to take the RPL route kaso po meron akong ISEB certification from BCS and like @redrat, na nagpost ng question sa ACS Skills Application thread, meron kasi akong nabasa na comparable to an AQF Diploma yung certification para di na magRPL. hindi ko po kasi masimulan yung RPL 🙁

my question is, pwede ba talaga yung BCS certification as your qualification para di na po magRPL? thanks in advance po sa mga sasagot. 🙂

Im also an ECE and was assessed (this was last year) by ACS as Bachelors Degree ICT major.

But my friend who is also an ECE (but from different school) was assessed (this june lang) by ACS as Bachelors Degree ICT minor.

With the new rules now, malaki ang effect ng ICT minor/major sa total years of experience na puede iclaim sa EOI. Please refer to the link below:
