How can I be able to find a job in australia as an electrician/electronics technician?

boholanoboholano General Santos CityPosts: 9Member
Good day po sa lahat,

My background:
Graduate po ako last year at nakapagtapos ng kursong BS Electronics Technology, 26, married at kasalukuyang employed as a job order employee sa isang ahensya ng gobyerno as an encoder (hindi related sa natapos kong kurso) . I am also a part time electronics technician na gumagawa ng computer at consumer electronics repair sa bahay. Sumasideline din po ako minsan as electrician since I am also NCII certified electrician. I'm currently looking for a job na magagamit ko ang skill ko at magkaroon ng experience to qualify na makapag apply ng trabaho overseas and Australia is one of the place I'm looking forward. Since wala pa akong experience to work overseas, magtatanong po sana ako hinggil sa kung ano ang kelangan when applying for a job in Aus:

2. Ilang years of experience po ba ang kelangan to qualify?
3. What are the steps in applying for a job in Aus?
4. What are the documents I need to prepare?
5. What qualifications ang kelangan kong e comply?

Any answers/sugestions/clarifications would be a great help.

Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat and GOD BLESS.

Hi boholano, I am presently working here in Australia as service technician, madaming opportunity para sa ating mga technician. I like your question but the answer is long because you have to go to a process and to start with ang info to your questions can be found at border.gov.au( maraming requirements and start reading now and if you think you are qualified then start the application ASAP).

    Hi snooky,
Thanks for the link. I just want to ask, how did you start searching for a technical job there? Did an employer sponsored you to get there o dumaan ka sa isang agency? What processeses did you get in to bago ka na employed sa Aus?

advice lang bro, while gathering documents to prove your skill, start also learning and getting more trade skill like welding, programming, driving, cooking, carpentry, hair cutting, painting etc, etc. Bakit kamo, you will be busy finding work here and you may not have time learning those skills that you can easily learn in the phil. Take vocational courses if you can. Goodluck, keep in touch.

As far as I know, di madali mag apply agad ng work as a electrical tech or service. Maselan ang Australia with regards to safety. Meron pang mga licensces na kelangan bago maka pag practice in an electrical industry. Pero kung makakakuha ka ng employer that will employ you then its good. I knew some people na galing from Meralco na na pirate ng isang malaking elec company dito sa western Au.

I'm considering that fact too although wala akong general idea kung ano ano ang regulations ng australia with regards to electrical tech or service.

Then forget your dream temporarily and hone yourself as electrician.. later kung enough experience na, madali nalang pagprocess... lalo na if meron ka money for visa fee.

I am an ECE who would like to work as instrument technician kc gusto ko tlaga yang field na yan kaso lang yung work na napasukan ko ngayon d2 sa pinas is sa power plant operations as Plant Operations Engineer. Gusto ko sana pag dating ko jan, if magrant man yung visa, instrument tech ang work na papasukan ko.

Hello po! I've been working as an electrician (industrial setting) dito sa pinas for more than 5 years na. I understand na to be able to practice as an electrician sa Au, I'll need to have my trade experience be recognized by TRS then undergo gap training. May nakaexperience na po ba mag-pa recognized as electrician dito? Ano mga dapat iready na docs?

Hi @RheaMARN1171933, thanks! Actually, my wife is the primary applicant. We were supposed to have my trade assessed because of the long wait for an invite, but by God's grace, she got an invite and we are now in waiting mode for Visa grant. So with that good news, we did not pursue with my trade assessment. We deemed it would be more practical if I'll just have my trade assessed and recognized once we get to Au.

@xeego electricians are one of the many occupations my office process. You should be able to refer to VETASSESS for more information regarding document preparation. Just to note that you only need a positive skills assessment to qualify for migration. Once you’re there, to be able to work in your trade, you need to be licensed. That’s when you need to do gap training. Good luck!

@xeego I believe it’s a different process since you’re getting assessed not for migration purposes. You need to liaise directly with TRA if that’s the case as this forum is more to do with skills assessment for migration. All the best!
