Yesterday my husband received the email from Skillselect saying that he can already lodge the visa. The email states:

Congratulations
You have received an invitation to lodge a Skilled - Independent (Subclass 189) (Permanent) visa application nominated/sponsored by your family member.

We are just wondering how come they put "nominated/sponsored" by your family when subclass 189 is actually independent visa and also we don't have any family to nominate us. I find the email confusing. May I know if you also received the same kind of statement?

sabi kasi dun sa 189 may mga exemption for countries like nz/ uk for ielts..
kasi my ielts is already 4 years old though i did get 8 in all of it kaya lang super expired na yun and it seems na redundant na to retake ielts when i have lived in nz for almost 4 years or so then now in au.

The threshold English language requirement is Competent English, which is a minimum score of 6 in each of the 4 components of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test or other language test as specified by the Minister.
