Guys, akala ko natapos na ang issue sa ACS noong old ASCO at new ANSZCO nang mawala ang Computing Professional NEC at napalitan ng new occupations. Hindi pa pala nagtatapos.

Sa analysis ko, kapag binigyan ka ng assessment ng ACS as GROUP A, it means that you have a qualification assessed as comparable to the educational level of an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Bachelor (undergraduate) degree. May mga applicants na nasa section 2 and 3 pero nag-fall sa GROUP A. Remember, hindi tumitingin ang ACS sa school sectioning. Tumitingin ang ACS sa ICT subjects taken or vendor qualification at work experience.

Conclusion: Dapat safe ka sa points when lodging application.

hey guys, i think as long as you are assessed under Group A then you should get 15 points for overseas qualifications. I have friends who are already there, one is an accountant from PUP and the other is a software engineer from PLM. Both these schools are in section 2. In the case of my accountant schoolmate, she was assessed under Group A. The other friend is in Group B (PLM) but he said he was able to claim the maximum point for qualification. I guess it is because he had a Masters in La Salle? I was actually surprised since PLM is a good school and he graduated Magna Cum Laude in that college, so how come he was assessed under group B? Anyway everything is okay now and he was able to get the approval in less than a year.

@lifehouse28 Maybe your friends applied their visa before July 2011. Remember that the issue on school sectioning escalated when the new pointing system was introduced.

It's not the migration agent to be blamed of, even he was summa cum laude and he lacks the ICT subjects for his nominated occupation then ACS will put him in Group B.

ACS doesn't look at your grades and school when they assess your papers. What they weigh up most are the major ICT subjects taken. If they satisfy the ICT subjects you had taken in conjunction with the nominated occupation you are applying, then they will put you in Group A, nevertheless Group B requires more experience to outweigh insufficiency of ICT subjects taken.

    Example of Group A:
    Nominated Occupation: Analyst Programmer
    School : TUP (section 2)
    Course: BS Computer Science

    Example of Group B:
    Nominated Occupation: ICT Business Analyst
    School: UP Diliman (section 1)
Course: BS Mathematics (with specialization in Operations Research and Analysis)

Note: About aiming for 15 pts for overseas qualification. I'm sorry to tell you that ACS is not in the position of providing 15 pts. (per their email). It's DIAC who has the finaly say on this, and they have their own criteria in awarding of points (i.e. school sectioning, masters degree, PRC license, good grades, etc).

@tootzkie, I don't think its the case of not having enough ICT subjects since his degree is BS Computer Science. But he did apply before July 1 2011 so possible that it was not that strict when it comes to schools sectioning prior to that period? I'm just making an assumption here since we really don't know how DIAC grant scores for our qualifications.
