inquiry from someone from the Airline/travel sector

Hi guys,

I'm so glad I found this site as the discussions here are very informative, helpful and inspiring..
I am hopeful that someone could take the time to help me out din with my concerns.. :D

I am an Airline employee here in Pinas who is very eager to work in AU (preferably in Melbourne).
I have almost 8 years experience in the Travel/Airline industry - mostly in the operations (ticketing).
My current post is in Marketing(2+ years) which I hope to pursue sana in AU should there be an opportunity.

I have been reading some of the thread here and the info in DIAC website.
I've been taking notes kase mejo info overload.. hehe. (I sooo wanted this to work)
I hope someone could clarify if my understanding on the process is correct and could give their honest feedback:

1. Based on Visawizard on DIAC, i am eligible for subclass 186,189 and 190.
I think the best option is 189 as I do not have an employer(186) to nominate me yet.
However I've read somewhere that if skill is under CSOL, visa should be 190 under state sponsorship? Is this correct?

Please let me know if there are other visas that might be applicable for me.
I hope I wouldn't resort to student visa because I could not afford the tuition :( Limited lang din ang budget ko.
For practical reasons and based on shared experiences here, I think it's best na jan na ako hanap ng work kesa mag-antay ako ng interview dito..

2. I think Market Research Analyst(225112) or Marketing Specialist (225113) under CSOL should be my nominated occupation.
My worry is that 2+ years pa lang ako sa Marketing as the rest of my experience is with Operations.
Pero I've completed my masters in Business. May bearing kaya iyon with the assessing authority?
How about sa companies jan sa AU?

3. If I was already granted a 189/190 visa(positive thinking) ;), may requirement pa bang proof of funds?
If yes, how much? Do they need to know where I'll be staying? mga ganung details..

Thanks in advance to anyone who would be kind to answer my questions. :)

God bless..

    hi.. welcome to the forum..

    1. yes if your occupation is in CSOL Sched 2, you need to have a state sponsorship (visa 190)..
    - if your occupation is in SOL Sched 1 or CSOL Sched 1, it is not a requirement to have a state sponsorship (Visa 189)

    2. Regarding Work Experience
    - Check the requirements of your assessing authority, you have to satisfy their minimum requirements
    - Check if your work experience is enough for your to get the total pass mark 60pts
    - Regarding skills assessment and points, they can consider, if your other work experience is highly related to your nominated occupation.
    - So, check the job description of your ANZCO Code, and then compare that with your current job description, maybe ung mga iba mong experriences ay closely related din namna pala.. (by slightly modifying the job description of your other work experience)

    Major considerations:
    - Once you have selected your Occupation (if it's in CSOL Sched 2), at kailangan mo ng state sponsorship, you need to check kung may open slots pa ba sa mga states (isa isahin mo ang mga website nila).
    - kasi kung wala nang open slots for SS, hindi ka rin ma-iinvite for nomination, so sayang lang ang skill assessment mo
    - kung wala ng open slots, baka you need to wait for opening of occupation limit starting Jul1, 2013

Saka it would not hurt to take the IELTS exam and have your skills assessed...Hindi naman kamahalan yun lalo na't you really want to go to Australia..From there, you'd have a clear cut direction as to which visa types are more feasible for you

@lock_code2004 @LokiJr thanks po for your immediate reply..

I've checked po the work experience for Marketing Specialist.
So far relevant naman po sa experience ko kahit less than 5 years lang at kaya naman din po i-modify ung other experience para masupport ung nominated occupation. :)

Kaso, nung nagcheck po ako sa website ng Victoria for state quota, di ko po malocate dun ung nominated occupation ko sa list nila.. :(
I guess it means di po included sa iniisponsoran nila ung occupation ko kahit asa CSOL sya ng DIAC?
Kahinayang naman po if this is the case..Gusto ko po kase talaga sa Melbourne..
I was about to proceed pa naman for payment sa Skills assessment sa Vetassess.
Nakatulong po ung advise nyo.. I'll work on the IELTS na lang muna siguro..

Mahirap naman mag-antay ng until July kase baka di pa rin sya included by that time..

@becki - assuming you have your skills assessment and ielts, you can lodge your EOI/Skillselect in DIAC..

    EOI/Skillselect works in several ways:
    1) you can apply state sponsorship directly to the state (by giving your EOI reference number) kung saan available pa ang occupation mo. this one, you know that you have an application already and once approved you will get your invitation to apply for visa..
    2) wait for any state to select you (meaning hindi ka mag-aapply sa specific state), but this one will take long.. hindi mo alam kung anung pwedeng mangyari.. possible din nmn swertihin ka..
    3) wait for an employer to sponsor you (im not sure about this, but i think you have to specify sa mga options mo sa EOI na interested ka din sa employer).. again walang kasiguruhan na may mag sponsor nga na employer..

    Now for your case,
    - you need to check all states kung saan available pa ang occupation mo
    - kung wala sa gusto mong state, you have a choice to apply to another state
    - by this time, most occupations have reached their limit, kaya baka wala nang slots.
    - so it is also an option to wait for opening of slots by start of next program year Jul 1 2013 - June 30 2014..

So my suggestions (not necessary the best, pero eto ang nakikita kong pwede):
    a) either continue with assessment and ielts, para once mag open ang slots by Jul 1, 2013, ready kana for submission
    b) check other occupation/s na pwede pa rin syo..

Get your skills assessed through VETASSESS po muna...once you have that apply for the states that have a demand for your occupation. You can always move to Victoria in a few years...konting pasensya lang po

@lock_code2004 that makes perfect sense! :) salamat po ng marami..

I did the EOI na po kaya lang pinending ko sya dahil di nga po ako sure sa visa saka kulang daw po ako sa assessment saka language..
From my understanding in the process, I need to complete these requirements first before submitting the EOI..Pero nabasa ko din po na pwede naman po iupdate un kahit submitted na? Ano po ba dapat? :\">

@LokiJr I'll try to complete din po requirements for VETASSESS kase based dun sa nabasa ko dito, matagal result nun..Would you know po kung till when ang validity ng results nito? Magagamit ko po ba sya sa ibang bansa or exclusively sa OZ lang?

May matitirhan po kase akong friend sa Melbourne kaya gusto ko sana dun habang di ko pa afford mag-rent.. :D

    Happy Sunday po!

yes, prerequisite ang skills assessment and english language requirements before submitting an EOI.. i think pwede mo nmn i save... but do not submit.. i'm not sure kung may expiration din ang mga saved EOI na hindi nasubmit..

if you are really serious and interested to start now... I suggest you visit the assessing authority's website.. and read/understand their requirements.. para maka start kana mag-gather ng documents..

meron din separate threads dito for each assessing authority.. you can do back reading and/or post relevant questions there..

as far as i know.. Vetassess assessment processing time is approx 3 months, and validity of the assessment result is 2 years.. the assessment is only for Au immigration purposes..

    Hello po,

I followed your advise.. Got a positive result from VETASSESS (after 3 mos) and did the IELTS.
And thank God my occupation list was not removed from the CSOL!! :D

I now plan to check out the different states for possible nomination.

I just want to verify po, since VETASSESS didn't specify the points that i should claim, should I just base the points from how i understand their evaluation?

For example, they stated in my letter:

Based on the evidence provided, more than 3 year/s of employment is assessed as highly relevant to the nominated occupation and completed at an appropriate skill level in the five years before applying for this skills assessment

Does this mean I could claim 10 pts based on the Self-assessment form?

How about IELTS? If i could claim 10 pts if I got 7 on each band and my score for one band is 6.5, does that mean i have to retake to claim points?

Thanks po. I just want to make sure my understanding is correct..

In order to claim at least 10 points for IELTS; you should not have a score lower than 7...
