@Gft_SG, sorry for the late reply kasi i've been very busy trying to settle down since I got here in Sydney. It probably doesn't matter to you anymore kasi late na reply ko pero for the sake of other people, Westpac called about 1 week after I opened the account online. =)

Re: budget, you can read the below thread... It will give you an idea how much people here allocate for their monthly upkeep.

The most important thing to look for in a house is that it should be within your budget and secondly it should be easily accessible from public transportation. Living in the CBD is not really a good idea (at least for us) as it is very expensive and it simply is like living in SG (aka living in buildings).

Once you have your PR, you can usually open your account with the banks in Australia - process may vary hence you need to look at the individidual requirements google mo Migrant Banking NAB, CBA, Westpac, ANZ, etc...

Share ko lang experience ko, it might help someone ...

    :
So I transferred some amount thru telegraphic transfer sa DBS. After 1 or 2 days, the money was already in my Westpac account. Its one less thing to worry about ...
Hi @satara, sana masagot mo pa 'to questions ko..

    1. Bank charges after successful fund transfer
Do you remember how much naging charge after you did the FundTransfer from your DBS to Westpac account? As I know ang telegraphic transfer may fess/charges like bank commission, cable charge, and even bank-end fees.

    2. Access to your account upon setting foot in AU
Are you in AU now? We're you able to make withdrawal after activating your acct in AU? Sa site kse ng westpac, for migrant acct meron silang sinasabi na "Easy access to your account once your identity check is completed, with unlimited electronic access".. etong identity check I suppose is the 100points check, macocomplete ba ito within few days? Thanks!

@packerx this is what I am thinking also because I have been using pay2home in SG to pay my agent's fee to his ANZ bank account.

You can fundtransfer for free via DBS ibanking to your pay2home.com account. Then pay2home.com will charge you $20 when you execute a bank transfer to ANZ bank.
Hi @sinli_au, why do you need transfer from DBS to pay2home, then pay2home to ANZ with the same $20 cable charge, when you can transfer from DBS to ANZ? Is it because of the agent bank charges? or anong anong charges ba yun matitipid/maiiwasan in done via pay2hme? Thanks

@manofsteel gumagamit din ako ng pay2home, fixed yung 20 dollars charge nila kahit anung amount, so mas malaking amount mas mura. Kung bank to bank kasi malaki ang charge kapag malaki ang amount.

@tartakobsky tsaka pano pala bro pag gawin mo transaction outside SG? let's say you want to continue doing this fundtransfer via pay2home when you get to AU. Kase I remember when logging online it's prompting for SMS-OTP to your SG number. I tried to call to have this change to my present number pero hirap makaconnect sa number nila.

Another Question po. PR ba kayo dito sa SG? Nagrenounce na po kayo? If oo, pd ba malaman ang steps? Balak namin irenounce para makuha ang CPF to use as seed money there.

    Salamat.

    Sharing rin po additional inputs.

I just learned through the Citi Officer that Citibank offers global transfer at no charge. Meaning kung citi sg to citi au, no cost and can be done through their online banking.

Meron rin raw sila telegraphic transfer for citi account to other bank. Sgd30 ang charge and can also be done online.

    Wala po limit for both.

@cholle, were you able to verify kung ang ANZ minimal lang or wala ba charges on global transfers? thanks!

    @sinli_au thanks for the info
@moontwinks there were some reports mga nawawalang transactions sa citi with global xfers ;)
Grabe naman nawawala... Don't think this is true though.

Nawawala ang transaction for a reason and one of which is an incorrect payment instruction.

@manofsteel from what I understand ANZ won't charge, rather it's the remitting bank (in my case, OCBC and DBS) who will impose charges for TT's done via internet banking. Hindi ba ganito naman usually?

from a reliable source who worked for the company and have tried to resolved numerous issues on similar trans, could be one or two from a thousand transactions, but i'd say better safe than sorry mate!

whichever case, i wouldn't entrust my breads on such flaws.. kaya hanap na lang ng ibang options, hehe
