Safety in Darwin/NT

toploadertoploader Quezon CityPosts: 6Member
Hello! To our kababayans in the NT, Kamusta po ang Darwin in terms of safety? I've been reading a lot of foreign forums and articles about how dangerous it is in Darwin. I'm not sure if they just have "high standards" about safety since they're from UK/other first world countries. Since we're from Pinas, baka naman normal lang sa atin yung mentioned high crime rates sa kanila :)

@toploader I had a similar question in the NSW thread about certain suburbs being called unsafe by locals. Depende sa quality of crimes - are they crimes to property? To persons? Are they hate crimes? Sino usually ang victim/perpetrator? Sino yung nagsasabing unsafe yung lugar? Para lang ma-consider if it's worth the risk.

Wala syang sinabi about the "safety" aspect. So i think normal lang ang crime rate (mas malaki pa sa atin sa pinas).

Sabi nya bakit di daw sa cairns kami, we told her na ang CDU lang ang nagbigay ng positive response na pwede pumasok.

@cholle Based on what I've read, there are a lot of break-ins, that's why it's pretty normal DAW to have high fences surrounding houses. There have been assaults even during the morning, most happen to the indigenous daw. I've also read that assaults happen inside public buses. I just googled phrases like "Crimes in Darwin,Australia", "safety in Darwin" and read the articles.

But since we're from the Philippines, I'm guessing it's not going to be a big deal for us considering we're used to such news.
    :)

@DCWerick yes, Darwin is very expensive. Based on my research, Accomodations pa lang, average of $400/week if you plan on getting your own place.

Considering CDU too if I decide to study in Darwin :)

3 dollars ang ticket good for 3 hours from the time na nagbayad ka.
