Early Childhood Education Diploma

GoldSeekerGoldSeeker AdelaidePosts: 202Member
Hi guys!

Im planning to do study in Australia to obtain a PR (in Melbourne specifically). Just would like to know what would be the detailed pathway if I choose to enter the said program? Based on my research kasi, parang kailangan mo din ng experience to be a fully registered teacher in Aussie. So, ok pa rin ba to kunin kung sakali? A feedback from the students who have enrolled and graduated from this program will be greatly appreciated.

Salamat :)

Feb 2016 - BS Nursing (Graduate Entry 2yr Program)
Oct 2016 - employed as nursing assistant with agency
Jan 2017 - employed as nursing assistant at public hospital
Dec 2017 - received AHPRA registration
Dec 2017 - granted Temporary Graduate Visa (485)
Dec 2017 - took PTE to increase points for PR application (Superior 1st take)
Jan 2018 - job hunt for RN Positions/awaiting for ANMAC assessment for PR application
Feb 2018 - ANMAC assessment approved/EOI 189 (70pts) and applied for 190 SA state nomination
Mar 2018 - ITA 190 SA (70pts), visa lodge, attaching documents
Apr 2018 - commence work as RN

@teachjenny @danyan2001us Alam niyo po ba kung ok 'to na pathway for PR? And upon completion of the program and the internship, registered ka na ba agad? Im currently choosing between ECE and Nursing. Mas favorable sakin ang Nursing sana since pharmacist ako. Pero makakatipid kasi sa time and money kung ECE eh. Anyway, thanks for the comment guys!

see the difference between the two of them: the PSWS (post study work visa) and the graduate work stream...sa graduaet work stream pwede ka mag apply ng graduate visa even if you finish a diploma course but....let us all remember that to be able to qualify for this visa, you need to have completed a 2 year course in Australia, hence I asked how many years did you finish your course. If 2 years ka nag study nyan, then qualify ka for graduate visa

@teachjenny @danyan2001us Hi! Based on my understanding po, yung diploma na to, it will only qualify you for an occupation as a Child care centre manager and not a teacher. Altho pathway ata siya para sa bs degree in educ? Di ko lang po alam kung pano ang registration kung international graduate ng educ. Kindly clarify nalang kung mali pagkakaintindi ko.

@teachjenny yes, I got to read that description from megt too. I read something from victoria's website about registration kasi. Will confirm when I found it. But generally, the program looks promising. Ok din yung occupation na child care centre manager eh

@GoldSeeker well technically you have to be registered in order to teach or work in any education and care setting here in Australia. If you took diploma in children's services here, I think all you have to do is check in ACECQA's website if recognised yun course and school mo. If you took your ECE degree overseas, then don't apply for student visa anymore, go straight to 189 as long as you have the needed 60points. If approved, only then will you check with ACECQA.

If I were you, take Bachelors in Early childhood teaching, kasi yun sure, you can apply for skilled independent visa or employer sponsored visa. However, it is expensive talaga and that's 3 to 4 yrs of your life. If you do however take Diploma, I think your biggest chance is to be sponsored by an employer in a state where there is a high demand. I am not entirely sure with what the pathway is for diploma. I am just speaking from experience.

@beaj Thank you for your advice. I was just quite confused with registering as a teacher in Australia. Some schools say that you can work as an educator after finishing diploma. On the other hand, Victoria's website states that you need to get a 7.5 obs in addition to the completion of your program to be a registered teacher. Anyway, I'm planning to take BS nursing or health mngt instead. But a lot of people are considering the diploma course so this should be helpful. Thanks again!

Hi! Question lang in line sa topic, I have been accepted into Master's program in Early Childhood Education (Uni of South Australia). After completing the program, can I directly apply for Independent Skilled Visa kahit wala ako related experience? I finished Psychology (degree) and Educational Psychology (Masters) but my career slightly shifted, more on Education management po and experience ko. To be specific I worked in Student Services.

Thank you po in advance and pasensya na po kung nasagot na po ito previously. :)

@FaithandGrace Hi! I believe in order for you to apply for a skilled visa, you would need to nominate an occupation first. Then from the points system, you could assess if your points are sufficient to apply for PR (min of 65 pts) even without experience. However, I'm not sure if you still need to register as a teacher before applying for a skilled visa. Maybe you can nominate Child Care Centre Manager as an occupation too?

Thanks sa input @GoldSeeker! My understanding is once I finish the Masters programme, I can already register as a teacher in South Australia plus of course other requirements like IELTS. I am thinking of nominating Early Childhood Educator as my occupation para pasok sa banga, I mean match talaga sa course ko. :)

I applied for July 2015 intake, kaso baka di ako umabot, wala pa yung offer letter. Haaays :(

@FaithandGrace By taking a degree program, one can automatically apply for a temporary work visa which will allow you to work full-time in oz for 2 years or longer. A year of employment in oz can give you 5 points according to the points system.

May 2 months pa naman. Mabilis lang daw ang degree programs iprocess compared sa mga diploma/vocational courses. Pwede pa iyan maihabol :)

Hello. I just want to share to you my experience in applying for ECE teacher in Australia. This might help you especially those who struggle to get 8.0 in their IELTS speaking sub-test. I just had my visa granted today (Visa 457) and I am set to go to Australia by the 3rd week of April. Here is my timeline:

    April-May 2016: IELTS Review
    May 21, 2016: Took the IELTS (R-9 L-8.5 S-7.5 W-7 OBS-8)
June 24, 2016: Passed requirements to ACECQA for qualifications assessment
June 30, 2016: ACECQA accepted requirements
August 30, 2016: Received letter outcome (Qualifications Equivalent to approved ECE Qualifacations in Australia)
September-October 2016: Applied for different jobs online (Some emailed back but asked for a teacher registration)
-Tried to register at VIT, did not accept due to my speaking subtest
    November 3, 2016: Took another IELTS (R-8.5 L-9 S-7 W- 7 OBS-8)
November 2016: Applied for sponsorship in Queensland and West Australia (QLD, no teacher registration required)
December 8, 2016: Interview with employer
December 15, 2016: Received Job Offer
December 22, 2016: Revieved Offer Letter and Contract
January 9, 2017: Passed all requirements to my immigration agent given by my emplouer
    Feb. 19, 2017: Visa lodgement (Visa 457)
    March 7, 2017: Medical Examination
    March 15, 2017: VISA GRANTED

Visa 457, unlike Visa 189 and 187, is only a temporary visa that allows you to work with a sponsor in Australia for 4 years and to take your dependents with you with the same work rights. I actually applied with my de facto partner and thankfully, we'll be coming to Australia together. By the 4th year, they can renew you for another temporary or permanent visa. It's much cheaper than Visa 189 as we only paid AUD2,198.68 for both me and my partner and its processing time is much faster since they claimed to have it done in 4-8 weeks. Ours took 4 weeks.

Here's the catch, most sposorships are needed in rural areas and not in major cities. I got mine in Gladstone, QLD. It's not really a major issue for me but for those who've set their eyes on the major cities, it might be a problem since it's really hard to find one there.

So that's my experience. I'm still actually overwhelmed at how fast things are going but I am fully aware that this is a great opportunity and I am excited to work in Australia.

If you have any other questions, I would very much happy to help as the company I'll be working for has a good referral program.

I truly believe in God's perfect time.

    "Dear Sai,

    Thank you for your enquiry.

The results of your IELTS does not meet ACECQA’s requirements, therefore we will require additional evidence regarding your proficiency in English.

Could you please provide a reference letter from a current/previous employer or your university regarding your proficiency in all areas of English including writing, listening, speaking and reading skills? The reference letter must:

    • be signed by the referee
    • include referee’s contact details
    • specify the time that the referee has known you and in which capacity
    • provide an overall testimony to your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, and
    • provide examples of occasions the referee has witnessed these skills being demonstrated.

Please note: At any point during an assessment, if there is any doubt about an individual’s English language proficiency, ACECQA reserves the right to request further evidence or require an English language test.

I trust this information is helpful."

Maluwag ang ACECQA compared sa mga teacher registration bodies sa mga states sa Australia. Hehe
