Hello guys. Been reading the posts, and thought I'd give my view. If you are a registered nurse and has at least 2 years work experience whether you are in the Philippines or overseas, I believe you need not to take BSN in Australia. Initial step should be applying for AHPRA. The idea is to fail the initial assessment. Why? Because AHPRA will decide whether or not you can go for the Bridging program or the conversion program. Since you are an RN and has at least 2 years' work experience as an RN, then AHPRA will ask you to go for the bridging program which is good for 12 or 13 weeks. After receiving the letter from AHPRA advising you to go for the bridging program, that is the time you look for an education provider. Further, some taking the bridging program applies for a visitor visa. I believe a 575 should be more appropriate as it will allow you to remain in Australia for about 5 months plus it will allow you to work 20 hours/week. This period is enough to: (1) finish the course; (2) apply for AHPRA registration; and (3) do the ANMAC. After obtaining favorable results, you can now apply for GSM. Good luck guys and GOD BLESS :)

@EXCEL hi po. Just read your post. Question po. Why fail the initial assessment for AHPRA? How will i do that? Sounds a bit loco with my questions po. Forgive me.

@aynie_akee1721 No worries :). Apply for overseas qualified nurse registration to AHPRA, then you will fail. If AHPRA decides you meet the criteria for registration, they will issue a letter advising that you are eligible for registration after completion of an IRON course or Bridging Program. That letter is required to undertake the IRON course or Bridging Program.

Further, in order to be eligible for the Bridging Program, you need to:
    1. Be an RN
    2. Score 7.0 across all 4 components of IELTS
    3. Have at least 2 years' work experience

    GOD BLESS :)

@EXCEL Just a thought. Does it matter if 2 years of recent practice as a nurse or 2 years rn experience would be fine? I have been out of practice for a year now. Just a bit worried.

@EXCEL And is it hospital based experience with bed capacity or a clinic nurse is okay? Thank you.

@Charmgeil0325 Hi, for you to register as a nurse in Ahpra you need to either get a 3 month bridging course or a 1 yr conversion course here in AU. Yes, you really need to study to be a Registered Nurse here. You can send your papers to ahpra for assessment for you to know if you're eligible for the bridging course. Yung EN experience mo i don't think it'll be counted to your experience as a nurse. Yung experience as a clinic nurse ang counted. Check mo yung Ahpra website for info or you can call them. They've got a good customer service. Ahpra is the equivalent of our PRC in the Phils.

@Charmgeil0325 Yung PII either ipoprovide ng employer mo or you can get it yourself. Search for ANMF i think you can get a cover from them.

@athena12 Overseas nurse po si hubby kaya 1yr na lang kasama na run yung clinical placement. From what i know, meron silang tinatawag na recency of practice na requirement for Ahpra registration. Need ng work experience within the last 5years.

@athena12 kung wala kang work experience, mas mabuti 2 yrs Bachelor of Nursing kunin mong course para eligible ka to apply for PR once you finished your studies. I was once a nursing student here in Au kakatapos ko
Lang last december. I only had less than a year of exp sa pinas dati kaya this pathway pinili ko. In less than 3 mos I got a job in a private hospital. In demand ang RN jobs dito kahit zero exp ka and fresh from uni.

    SVP Subclass 573 with dependent
    January 2014- arrived Australia
    March 2014- Classes start
    December 2015- finished uni.
December 2015- Lodged subclass 485 visa, Medical exams cleared.
    February 2016- 485 Visa Granted
March 2016- skills assessment application submitted
May 4 2016- positive skills assessment
    May 16 2016- Lodged EOI (60 points)
    May 24 2016- ITA subclass 189
    June 4 2016- lodged subclass 189
June 14 2016- CO allocation (team Adelaide)
