HELP: Have your parents attempted to apply for Tourist Sub600 w/o enough financial capacity?

dee0829dee0829 MelbyPosts: 278Member
Parent wants to apply for just 2 weeks for this incoming Christmas and New Year's Holidays. I'm not sure how much the immigration would require her for show money but she is 54 (and won't be a threat to the immigration). We are residents but not yet entitled to sponsor because as far as I know, we have to be 2yrs PR to do that.

She has been to Canada and some Asian countries, do you think the immigration would be lenient towards her?

She's unemployed but has some savings as her job is mostly commission based.

Can someone advise me please. We haven't seen her in ages, so she wanted to take the initiative to apply as a tourist not sponsored.

Regards.

@fgs thanks. I also want to ask, how many weeks or months did you apply for your dad? What employment did you write for him and what is the document you attached for the 'intention to return' (if it's ok to ask)

Thank you and all the best.

depende yan sa CO..you can apply family sponsored tourist visa if you want..they grant either 1 year multiple entry or 1 year single entry...minsan di naman basis yong date na ilalagay mo. Depende kung kailan ka nagapply and they just set an entry date( few weeks after the grant date)

Hi dee, I wrote down a few weeks sa TV600 application form for me and my mum in 2016, another application on 2017(we visit yearly), was given a multiple visa for a year, but it all depends really, I was on a student visa previously. Just write down the bare minimum travel weeks needed. As long as you sponsor her visit, a bank statement from one of the Aussie banks will suffice. You are allowed to sponsor relatives for a visit on a PR visa.

Hi Dee, I'm assuming you meant this re: 2 years PR before sponsorship from: http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Brin/Pare

You might be eligible to apply for a parent category visa if:
-you have a child who is an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident, or an ---eligible New Zealand citizen
-your child has been living in Australia lawfully for at least 2 years before you lodge your visa application
    -you have a sponsor
-you meet the Balance of family test criteria
-you meet health and character requirements.

This visa is different from a Tourist 600 visa, you can definitely bring your mum to AU on a tourist visa as it doesn't have restrictions. Just provide a letter to authorities for your mum as a visa requirement stating that you would want her in for a visit.

The Parent Category Visa is a Temporary Resident Visa as opposed to a Tourist Visa which just lets you visit at a specific date range be it 3, 6 or 12 months.

With a tourist visa, you can extend your stay by applying for another tourist visa even when you are in Australia, provided that you don't have an 8503 condition imposed in your valid tourist visa.

also, if you want to have a multiple visa for a year, you can write down birthdays as a legal reason, or if you have graduations coming up, even holidays are valid.

Hi Dee, at least 6 months to 2 months before the intended departure date. February next year is the earliest you can apply. You can apply for an e600 visa online, they give out results in less than a month. Earliest result I got is after a week.

@heero_yuy51 Hi. My sister applied visa for me last sept. 28 but got rejected because I'm unemployed (just graduated last May) then she applied again for me last friday. She wrote a letter behalf of me saying that I'll return because I still need to process my thesis in order to get my credentials at school. Do you think theres a chance my visa be granted this time?

@aplfrvr hi Apl, your sister can vouch for you by sending a letter to dIBP as requirement stating that she is inviting you to visit AU, also that she will be shouldering all your expenses, airfare, lodging, cost of living during the trip.

But of course, the unemployed status of young adults is a bit of a grey area for the case officers and even if you show them a huge amount in your bank statement, they may or may not give you a visa. They need valid proof that you will be returning back to the Philippines, I'm not too sure if the thesis thing is enough reason for them but you can always try.

Hi @rainybrainy just this March, my uncle applied for visa 600 without any evidence of employment, bank statement and proof of funds. He also doesnt have any prior international travels. My sponsoring aunt just made a statutory declaration that she will shoulder all the trip expenses. We lodged his application together with the whole family. He was granted a multiple entry visa. :)

@chyrstheen Thanks for sharing your experience! My aunt got a regret notice due to the reason that there is no strong ties for her in PH and the case officer is worried that she would not go back to PH if allowed to enter AU. =(

My cousin who is getting married invited them to his wedding and made the invitation letter mentioning that he will shoulder all the trip expenses and full board and accommodation but it was not successful. =(

@rainybrainy oh no, I invited my aunt as well, without even strong ties to Phils. Hindi na ba pwede magdispute? show them the itinerary and magandang cover letter na walang balak magoverstay etc?

@dee0829 hindi na nagdispute yung aunt ko. She will travel sa other Asian countries daw muna para may stamp yung passport nya. Wala din kase syang any travel history.
