share ko lang from my experience, my PTE road to superior. It took me 4 exams para makuha ang superior, the first three i have spent a lot of time browsing over exam materials and memorizing some templates. Iyong pang-apat, which was 1 year apart from the last exam, i changed strategy. i went back to basics kasi nahihirapan ako sa reading. instead of spending my time on never-ending review materials, I have brushed up my english skills by learning verb, adverb, nouns etc., kinds of sentences and subject-object agreement. When i have exhausted this review, mas madali na sagutan iyong fill in the blanks, re-order paragraphs, missing word and summarize text. no exams are alike, but the basics will always be the same.

Goodluck to all the test takers. May you all get the desired scores you are aiming for. Godbless! :)

@toAustraliaandbeyond I reviewed for around 3h a day for 3 weeks after work. Puyatan minsan on top of work but it's a small sacrifice for the end result. Good luck!

@Supersaiyan I found the essays the easiest of the writing part and the summarize text the hardest.

On the essay part I just used the method on the E2language channel. Ikot ikutin yung question into 4 paragraphs basically. It made me think hard on the summarize part to cut down the answer to one sentence.

Bakit ang hirap ng PTE kumpara sa IELTS? Ilang oras na ako sa Retell Lecture hindi ko pa din siya makuha kung paano gagawin ng maayos. Panic mode na talaga ako.

. I start with... The lecture was about (topic).. The speaker mentioned (1st point) He/she also cited (2nd point).. Moreover, he/she discussed (3rd point).. Finally, he/she concluded that (last point mentioned or you say your conclusion)_..

    PTE Writing Tips

For writing essay I used E2 language format and applying what I learned from Ielts. Sa intro, sa 1st sentence ni restate ko lang yung question using my own words. Then sa 2nd sentence if one sided lang yung question, I give summary of the reasons ( 2 reasons only). Example, if ang essay is about importance of computers (one sided), eto 2nd sentence ko. Computers are valuable resources as they (1st reason) aid in learning and are (2nd reason) used to communicate with others. Then sa 3rd sentence sasabihin ko para pampahaba-- In this essay, I shall discuss my point of view by giving points and examples about the topic.

Then sa 2nd paragraph, elaborate ko na ang 1St reason. Mga 2 sentences na magsupport sa 1st reason, like if yung 1st reason ko is aid in learning, expand ko ang topic by answering how computers aid in learning, etc. Usually yung reason mo convert mo by asking how, what, when, or who. Tapos sa 3rd sentence, I state examples. Pwede ka din mag add pa ng 4th sentence parang isummarize mo lang ang 2nd paragraph.

Sa 3rd paragraph discuss naman ang 3rd reason same sa ginawa sa 2nd par.

4Th paragraph 1st sentence conclusion, then 2nd sentence recommendation.

If 2 sided naman yung intro pwede mo gamitin yung nasa template like kina Heprex na samples. Then yung 2nd par yung kabilang side, then yung 3rd paragraph yung other side. Tapos same last paragraph.

If medyo nahihirapan ka sa mga ideas, research ka dito sa forum ng mga recent topics. Tapos based dun sa topic reasearch ka anong pwedeng maging points and reasons para may idea ka na ano ilalagay mo sa essay.

Ang key talaga sa writing is dapat marami ka ideas. If nahihirapan ka mag construct ng idea try to research as much as possible. Google mo yung mga common or recent topics on pte writing tapos may mga sample questions dun,, then research mo ano possible answers para sa actual exam may idea kana ano isasagot. Tapos dpat familiarize mo mga connectors (like moreover, therefore, for instance, etc) kasi mas mataas ang grade kapag medyo complex ang sentence na ginagamit mo kesa simple sentences lang.

For summarize written text strategy ko is to first get ano main topic. Then analyze what important points were given, may nangyari ba? If meron ano ang nangyari, kelan nangyari? ano at para kanino ang purpose? Usually kasi sa mga paragraphs naka detail lang pero yung point lang naman dun is parang dinedescribe lang yung main topic. If you can answer who/what, when, how and why about the topic pwede mo na pagdugtungin yung ideas mo thru connectors and form a sentence. If you will have multiple paragraphs, summarize mo muna per paragraph then summarize mo ulit lahat in one sentence

Another tip also in writing as much as possible do not repeat the same words. If you dont have much stored knowledge about synonyms okay lang. Practice and Research is the key. Kaya malaki ang help sa akin yung pag research sa mga common or recent topics kasi while practicing pwede akong mghanap ng synonyms then mas madali ko syang ma recall sa actual exam kasi nagawa ko na sya before. Tapos if meron kayong word na ma encounter na parang hirap kayo mag elaborate, google nyo din anong synonym or phrases na pwedeng same meaning ng word. Share ko yung nilista kong mga synonyms na possible na magagamit sa mga essay kasi minsan these are the topics commonly asked.

    Hi!

Starting to have a self review on PTE. I'm planning to take the exam on May 7 or 10.
    1) Meron po ba kayo discount code to buy Silver/Gold Kit from ptepractice.com?
    2) PTE Voucher Exam - saan po kayo bumili? I've read of buying voucher code para mas makamura sa exam (10k php original, and then dito sa site it's just 9600php - legit ba? https://www.aeccglobal.com/ph/ptevoucher/)
    3) Kaya po ba yung timeline ko? if 2 to 3 hrs a day lang ako magreview?
    4) I've taken IELTS before pero 6.5 lang ako sa Writing (then 7.5/8 sa SLR), mas kaya ko na po ba yung PTE with 2 weeks lang to review?

    Thank you.

@HELEN28 Have you familiarized yourself with all th exam types? It depends din kasi how focused you are sa review. Some can get it in 2 weeks prep time while others took the exam after months of review. Do extensive preparations in a week then get the mock test. From there you can gauge how ready you are.

Based on my experience, 3-4 keywords lang talaga ang nasasabi ko. Imposible po talaga mabuo yung lecture. Suggestion ko po, always mention the main topic. Important po yun para sa content. And then usually may 2 main points yung lecture. Ok na po na yun na imention then include ka ng conclusion. Usually kapag 25 seconds na ang lumipas, nagcoconclude na ako kahit di ko pa nabuo yung lecture. Sa scoring po ng retell lecture, mas mataas ang weight ng oral fluency at pronunciation kesa sa content. Kaya super important po na wag kayo magpanic. Good luck :)

    @MumVeng I agree kina sis @chococrinkle @chyrstheen .

Just to share my actual experience nung 1st take ko. Ung retell lecture ko about kay Amory Lovins. At hindi ko sya kilala..hahaha. Ang sinulat ko pa nga Amery Loggins, sounds-like na lng kasi nga hindi ko masyado naintindihan bukod sa hindi ko sya kilala tlaga ..hahahaha..Na-capture ko lng a few keywords lng tlaga as in, hindi ko na ginawang complicated. Ang ginawa ko nun 2-3 key words/phrases na isisingit ko na lng sa template para mataas pa rin OF ko. I tend to hesitate and stammer kapag isisipin ko pa anu sasabihin ko. Most of the time mas ngpo-focus ako makabuo ng 2-3 phrases na isisingit ko sa template which is dapat grammatically correct na para babasahin ko na lng (may template na din ako sa taas ng erasable notepad na sinulat ko during read aloud then ung mga notes ko sa baba na lng nun para kung maka ilan man ako retell lecture, same page pa din ako mg-take ng notes). Hindi ko na pinapakinggan ung buong lecture minsan basta may idea lng ako about san ung topic at may nakuha na ako keywords. Don't worry too much about the content sa retell lecture basta alam mo anu ung topic. Just make sure not to sacrifice OF and pronunciation cguro over the content.

@MumVeng Its better if you stick with just 3 points only. Minsan nga madami na tayo naisusulat but you have to choose 3 points only para di ka mawala. I agree na importante talaga oral fluency over content. If the computer reads that you speak with confidence and without hesitation, mas mataas ang grade mo.

Hi Guys,

Kakatanggap ko lang ng scores ko.

    LRSW - 62/70/78/58

    Grammar - 54
    Oral Fluency -82
    Pronunciation - 56
    Spelling - 19
    Vocabulary -75
    Written Discourse -70

Aim ko po is maka superior, ngayon po mag back to basic review muna ako.

Laban lang, mag ready na for next take.

Maraming salamat pala kila @Heprex @batman @jedh_g for sharing their tips and materials. At lalong lalo na sa ating Panginoon.

God is good all the time!

@datch29 Thanks for sharing your experience. Kaya mo yan, kaya natin lahat yan!! Continue lang!
Supposed to be nextweek na ako magtake pero naisip ko try ko muna mock test. Kaya nagresched ako ng PTE test for another 2 weeks. Though my rebooking fee na 20% alam ko di pa talaga ako ready next week. Tinatry ko muna mairecall at maisapuso yun templates. ni sir @heprex, @Batman, E2language.
Based on most comments, distracting daw talaga yun other test takers. sobra ingay.

Good luck po. Kaya mo yan. Ngayon alam mo na yung actual feeling nung exam so mas makakapaghanda ka sa next step. God bless :)

@chyrstheen opo natapos ko po yung exam.

Yung summarize written text ko nag rarange lang sa 20 to 25 words yung sentence ko. At 3 questions yung nakuha nito.

Yung essay naman mejo nahirapan ako dito 4 mins na nauubos sa time ko wala pako nasusulat at idea. Dahil na distract nako ng husto. Pero na complete ko sya 266 words nalagay ko dito.

Akala ko nga speaking pinaka mababa ko, sya pala ang pinaka mataas pa.

Mag aral ulit ako ng basic english baka dun ako may kulang.

    Anyway salamat sa reply.

God is good all the time!

@datch29 Just to share what I did on top of familiarizing myself on the format, etc. I went back to basics din just like what @agentKams did. Sometimes when we get used to using the English language we tend to overlook ung fundamentals. I did a self-refresher on the proper use of prepositions, verb tense, etc. to make sure kaya ko mg-contract ng sentences with correct grammar. And pag may nae-encounter ako words na hindi ko alam meaning at pronunciation, inaalam ko to increase my vocabulary din.

I have sent you the reviewers I used (nakuha ko din dito sa forum) and some tips din. Sana makatulong sayo.
