489 for Queensland

Hello. I'm planning for applying for a 489 visa sa QLD. I've done my research kaso sobrang info overload. Sa mga 489 holders dyan patulong naman.

I'm a BA Sociology graduate from UST. My stepdad currently resides in QLD. Ayon sa research ko. I need to qualify sa isa sa mga occupations sa QSOL. Ang pwede sa akin ay 272499 Which is Social Professionals nec. So kailangan ko ba talaga mag VETASSES?

Pero do I really need to pay for an assessment? Or dahil may may stepdad would sponsor me mas madali process? Nag calculate din ako ng point and 70 ang nakuha ko sa points calculator. I had a job after graduating. 6 months nga lang. Pero yung research and field work ko while studying is lagpas 2 years. Eligible ba ako?

@jerkg hi assessment is a must po for skilled migration otherwise there is no way for them to determine whether you are really qualified for that occupation as per your claim so an assessing body like vetassess needs to vet your qualifications and experience in order for you to claim points

@jerkg if you have only worked for 6 months then you need more experience po. normally they will deduct 1year as a qualifying year. how did you come up with 70pts po? nakapag ielts na din po kayo?

@jerkg Mandatory requirement for skilled migration ang positive skills assessment and valid English test results. You can check Vetassess' requirements for a successful assessment for your specific occupation in their website. Nag-Vetassess din ako and nakalista sa requirement sa occupation ko yung at least 1 year work experience after getting my degree.

Ang matutulong ng stepdad mo is to give you an additional 10 points for a family sponsored 489 visa or to make you eligible under chain migration for a state sponsored 190 or 489 visa if may ganung option in his state.

@jerkg Hindi pala eligible occupation mo for a family sponsored 489 visa. You'll have to focus on a state sponsored 190 or 489 visa pala.

@maguero Pero yung skill level is 1 which is defined as:

Occupations at Skill Level 1 have a level of skill commensurate with a bachelor degree or higher qualification. At least five years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.

So may chance ba? Or do I really need to get more work experience?

@batman Skilled Regional (Provisional) yung sponsored by a relative. Gets ko na kailangan mag VETASSES talaga, I'm just worried na not suitable makuha ko sa assessment. What is your experience applying ba? How much work exp did you have prior to applying? Kasi ayoko naman sayangin yung assessment fee mga nasa 40k din yun. :(

@jerkg Hindi ako sure kung saan naka-indicate yung skill level 1 requirements pero sa Vetasses website nakalagay - Social Professionals nec (ANZSCO Code 272499)

This occupation requires a qualification assessed as comparable to the educational level of an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Bachelor degree or higher degree, in a field highly relevant to the nominated occupation. In addition to this, applicants must have undertaken at least one year of post-qualification employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years which is highly relevant to the nominated occupation.

A positive assessment of both qualifications and employment is required for a positive Skills Assessment Outcome.

Since UST ka your degree will be considered equivalent to an AQF Bachelor degree, so mame-meet mo qualification requirement. Kaso it clearly says you need at least 1 year work experience at an appropriate skill level.

@maguero Thanks for clearing that up. Okay so 1 year post-qualification. So I would have to gain more work exp. Pero does it have to be straight 1 year? or pwede ba cumulative work exp? Like meron ako 6 months with 1 company, and another 6 months from another?

@jerkg Okay lang yung cumulative pero mas mabuti na sobrahan mo sa 1 year yung work experience before you apply. Notice sa description sa website nila nakalagay - applicants must have undertaken at least one year of post-qualification employment at an appropriate skill level.

Assessing bodies usually don't consider the first 1 or 2 years of work experience as being an appropriate skill level. That's why usually hindi counted towards the points yung first 1 or 2 years kasi duon ka palang nagkakaroon ng experience that will enable you to work at what they consider an appropriate skill level. In my opinion, minimum 2 years work experience should be okay. Yung first year will enable you to reach the appropriate skill level and the second year will enable you to fulfill the requirement to have at least 1 year of post-qualification employment at an appropriate skill level.

Sa Vetassess results ko 2 years of work experience yung may notation na they were used to compute for the appropriate skill level so hindi nila kinonsider as skilled employment.

Pero mas mabuti rin na mag-inquire ka sa Vetassess na thread. 2 years ago na kasi ako nagpa-assess and baka may bago nang trends ngayon.

@jerkg Kung may specific state ka na balak applyan, check mo rin kung may employment requirements yung state na yun. May mga states kasi na for certain jobs sasabihin ng state kung ilang years of work experience ang nirerequire nila. Sayang kasi kung may positive assessment ka nga from Vetassess pero kulang work experience mo dun sa required ng state, hindi ka pa rin makaka-apply sa state na yun.
