@jericho7 yan din ang technique na gamit ko, write first letter of each word. Nung nagexam ako, may sentence ako na hindi ko masyadong nacapture yung ilang words. Ang ginawa ko nagsalita lang ako ng kahit ano, almost parang baby-talk na bulol sa part na hindi ko nacapture then continue ako sa remaining words ng sentence. I don't know kung swerte lang ako pero i got 90 sa speaking. Ang tip ko siguro is wag ka mawala sa focus kung may words ka na hindi nacapture. Just continue to talk sa mga words na natandaan mo and be confident sa pagsasalita. Also remember na computer based ang exam, possible na makita yung pagkakamali, possible rin na hindi. Goodluck!

@maximogc naencounter ko din yan, ang gagawin ni pearsons jan ay ipapa scan yung passport biographic page at from there sila magco-correct ng info mo. Though tama yung pag fill up mo sa pearsons website, I suggest contact mo n lng si pearsons pra 100% ka na di magka problem. Possible ksi mangyari pag examine ka, but the worst thing magka issue ka sa DHA upon lodging visa kung di tugma yung info mo, kaya much better contact pearsons tlga.

My long overdue tips.. Thanks to this forum!
SPEAKING
Read Aloud Relax and read the sentence/phrase during the allotted prep time to assess your speed and to check any unfamiliar words. No need to read fast, just your normal pace within the time limit.
Make sure you don't start before the recording starts. Wait for the recording to start!
Repeat Sentence
Again, RELAX. Inhale/Exhale. The audio will autoplay so you need to focus. I suggest you practice this many many times to get used to how it works, and to practice controlling your tension. I am really tensed during my practice and I practiced to stay calm to keep my focus.
Describe Image I used the template suggested here before, so I don't need to panic.
The pie/line graph projected on the screen represents the *title* The largest area/highest point with *mention the value* is *mention the label* While the smallest area/lowest point with only *mention the value* is *mention the label* Overall, the graph seems accurate and concise and can be used as a reference for further studies
It's better to stop at 35 seconds.
Re-tell Lecture Take as much notes as you can. Again, better to stop at 35 seconds.
What I did was I read my notes, and quickly constructed using this template: The speaker was discussing..... He talked about.. He also mentioned... (If mahaba pa time, I will add 1 more - He then discussed...) Overall, the lecture seems interesting and informative.
Short Question Wait for the recording to start before speaking. Guess if you don't know.
WRITING
Summarize Written Text Make sure you only have 1 capital and 1 period to come up with 1 sentence. Keep it simple. Do not steal a sentence from a the given phrase, paraphrase it and use synonyms.
What I did was think of 2 examples to be used for the 2 arguments. Then I will decide if I agree or not to the statement based on the examples since it's easier to support your opinion if you already have examples.
READING
Multiple Choice, 1 Answer Read the question first, then briefly scan the choices. Do fast deep reading. Fast because you don't want to consume a lot of time and not be able to finish the reading section.
Guess if you don't know.
Multiple choice, Multiple Answers If you are sure of only 1 answer, then choose only 1. You don't wanna risk losing all your points. It's better to have 1 if you're sure of just 1 answer.
Re-order Para Find the independent sentence first. Then find it's Object, that will be the subject of the next sentence. Familiarize yourself with SVO format (SVO = Subject Verb Object)
Fill in the blanks - reading Once you're done selecting all the words, RE-CHECK. It's important, as sometimes you will realize there is a better answer and you have mixed up the answers.
Fill in the blanks - r&w Read briefly first because you need to understand the MEANING of the phrase. There will be clues by word pairs. Practice Word Pair usage.
LISTENING
Summarize Spoken Text
You can write exactly as you heard it. If you can type fast, no need to write it down, just type directly.
Multiple Choice, Multiple Answers Listen well, and understand the questions. Glance at options but if it's confusing you, better focus on the question first.
Fill in the blanks I write on the notebook, then I quickly check where the next blank is so I can prepare. I don't spend too much time looking at my notebook I just write legibly and focus my eyes on the computer screen.
Highlight Correct Summary As you listen, write down keywords. LISTEN & UNDERSTAND
Select the Missing Word It's important to read the instructions, because the TOPIC can be found there.
Highlight Incorrect Words Get ready. Place cursor at the start of the text. Run the mouse along the audio. If you missed to click any word, just remember it and click after the audio stops. Write from Dictation Listen, understand, remember then type. It helps to repeat the sentence in your head.
Overall Score: 90 L: 90 R: 89 S: 90 W: 90
Final Tip: Manage your time well in Reading part. I almost did not finish this part, I consumed too much time during the start and I noticed time was almost up, my adrenaline helped me, having to guess some difficult parts, so I can reach the easier parts and gain sure points. My reading test started from Fill in the blanks - r&w then to Multiple Choice, 1 Answer.

Hi guys! Just took the exam. Resulted with 73 Speaking 84 Listening 90 Reading 90 Writing.
I observed nahirapan ako sa Repeat Sentence, hindi ko mahabol ang words kasi I tried listing first letters. Did not expect na mahaba ang sentences compared sa mock tests na natry ko sa ptetutorials. Need your advice po sana on passing this part.
Thanks in advance po.
For me, listing first letters did not worked much. Mas maigi po siguro, focus on the meaning of the sentence. Break the sentences into three or four smaller parts. It is much easier to understand and follow smaller components than a whole complex sentence. Do not lose focus kung meron ka na-miss na tanong. Ok lang yun. Try to repeat, as much as you heard and can recall. I know I missed at least 2 sentences, pero still naka-90 ako sa speaking.
Thanks.

Hello! Do you have some effective strategies for superior speaking? Thank you so much. ♥️ And you think nakakaapekto ba ang pace ng pagsasalita sa scoring? I know intonation does, pero kailangan bang mabilis ka rin magsalita?
ms_aneVictoria, Australia Posts: 1,133Member Joined: Jan 14, 2018
@jericho7 for me nag work ang listing of first letters pero I used it as a back up, meaning, gaya ng sabi ni @mamertz - mas crucial yung i break mo into parts/ phrases yung sentence and very important na matandaan mo kung ano yung sentence mismo (is it about where to find a location, or statement ng deadline ng mga report - yan madalas lumabas e).
Lastly, practice ng practice lalo na sa same environment as the PTE exam, meaning - mag practice ka while nasa MRT, or sa maingay na coffee shop - kasi if you study sa tahimik, then it’s entirely different sa actual kung saan mga katabi mo e ke iingay (we can’t blame them kasi they are giving their best shot din sa exam - yan lang ang ni positive thinking ko sa katabi kong local na muntik ko na talagang sikuhin sa ingay hahaha).
With practice - you’ll eventually get it. Ganda na ng scores mo sa rest - kayang kaya mo na yan next time.
Worthwhile to identify din yung other areas (in your case sa Listening - kasi perfect ka na sa reading, writing) - na can contribute sa speaking scores. Goodluck

@ramaineffr hello. not so much na mabilis but more on oral fluency. Pag mabilis ka magsalita then in the end wala namang sense e di din ok yun. Given na may element of time din, importante din ang bilis, pero dapat malinaw.
Sa speaking ang tip ko din talaga e copy the intonation (sa repeat sentence), then make a note sa itinakbo ng opinion ng lecturer sa retell lecture.
Sa Describe Image - make sure na you list down yung highest and lowest value sa graph or pie chart or basta 2 important thing sa image. With 40 seconds, wala ka na actually time na banggitin ang middle value - and important na may conclusion ka sa loob ng 40 seconds.
Make sure na mabanggit mo yung mga words na nasa graph (like yung category ng graph, at mga terms ba ginamit sa graph).
Sa re tell lecture naman, if you list down keywords lang, you’ll find yourself lost for words pag nag start na ang recording. No time at all ka na for impromptu speaking (unless super galing mo talaga).
With 40 seconds lang - ang tip ko is to write 2-3 important phrases from the lecture then yun ang sabihin mo during the recording.
This is the only area na pede kang mangopya - if you do the copying of words sa SWT or SST - automatic mag zero points ka kaya only use that sa Re tell lecture.

Yung mga nahihirapan sa Speaking, small tips kung mahaba haba pa oras ng review niyo:
Pag nagmamaneho ako, commute, naglalakad or during any idle time, magpplay ako ng BBC English news podcast, or any podcast na gumagamit ng formal/academic English as medium. I try to imitate how they speak (enunciation + pronunciation) and how they use their pauses (intonation). I sometimes repeat some of the lines na napapakinggan ko, kasi tbh lots of times you yourself can identify kung medyo sablay pagkakasalita mo. Most of the time makaka-encounter ako ng words na bago, or mga common words na tanang buhay ko mali pala yung pag-pronounce ko (e.g. awry, sewn, draught, coupon, quote, etc.). I take note of these words, write them down and re-play over sa youtube thru sa mga pronunciation videos para matandaan ko.
During speaking tests, the more you sound like a native English speaker, the more likely you will get a better score. Kung medyo matigas yung English mo ("d/th", "b/v", "f/p"), or kung yung words na 'record' or 'progress' di mo agad ma-identify kung verb or noun yung usage, magkakaproblema ka sa pag-score nang mataas sa Speaking Test----so dapat ayusin mo muna yan bago ka mag-exam.
@ramaineffr as long as yung pace mo is hindi masyadong mabilis at hindi rin masyadong mabagal, hindi mukhang robot, clear yung words na sinasabi (hindi parang kinakain), at ok ang pronunciation, i think walang magiging problema since computer ang magchcheck nyan.

hello @ning - yung period of review depends sa current english proficiency mo. Like if your work uses English as the main language to communicate (speaking or sending emails) - in my own opinion solid 1-2 months of review would be ok. During my review kasi, I found it helpful to go back and review grammar lessons din, pati sa pronunciation - so lahat yun should be factored in sa time table mo.
Ang talagang pinaka key to PTE success is practice. Sa dami ng sections ng PTE kailangan ipractice mo lahat from timing your speaking, sa pag practice ng repeat sentence etc. Ako nag vacation leave ako usually 3 days leading to the exam date para talagang yung confidence nandon Need mo din itake note yung rules bawat section (#no of words, negative scoring, time allotted for essay writing).
Nagpractice din ako mag essay writing and inoorasan ko din, to make sure na pasok sa 20 mins. Anyone can write an essay e pero to write under time pressure is a different story.
Read through this thread (ako binasa ko to lahat pramis) - and you will get a lot of pointers and encouragement na din Goodluck!

Superior (+79) 20 points
Note : if nasa skills assesment stage ka pa lang, ensure na PTE is accepted. Sa EA kasi kung saan ako nagpasa, they only accept IELTS

1. for me, writing (summarize written text and essay) in terms of time management, lalo na kung makatsamba ka ng 2 essay. but, as long as may structure ka na for writing, madali na, practice mo lang and make sure to note the time.
2. Yes, sobrang ok, hindi ako nagenroll pero lahat ng free materials nila ginamit ko, so I guess mas marami kang benefits na makukuha since nag avail ka ng package
God Bless sa prep and exam!

Describe Image
I used the template suggested here before, so I don't need to panic.
The pie/line graph projected on the screen represents the *title*
The largest area/highest point with *mention the value* is *mention the label*
While the smallest area/lowest point with only *mention the value* is *mention the label*
Overall, the graph seems accurate and concise and can be used as a reference for further studies
It's better to stop at 35 seconds.
Re-tell Lecture
Take as much notes as you can.
Again, better to stop at 35 seconds.
What I did was I read my notes, and quickly constructed using this template:
The speaker was discussing.....
He talked about..
He also mentioned...
(If mahaba pa time, I will add 1 more - He then discussed...)
Overall, the lecture seems interesting and informative.
Short Question
Wait for the recording to start before speaking.
Guess if you don't know.
WRITING
Summarize Written Text
Make sure you only have 1 capital and 1 period to come up with 1 sentence.
Keep it simple. Do not steal a sentence from a the given phrase, paraphrase it and use synonyms.
Essay
Format:
Intro, Argument 1, Argument 2, Conclusion
What I did was think of 2 examples to be used for the 2 arguments. Then I will decide if I agree or not to the statement based on the examples since it's easier to support your opinion if you already have examples.
READING
Multiple Choice, 1 Answer
Read the question first, then briefly scan the choices.
Do fast deep reading. Fast because you don't want to consume a lot of time and not be able to finish the reading section.
Guess if you don't know.
Multiple choice, Multiple Answers
If you are sure of only 1 answer, then choose only 1.
You don't wanna risk losing all your points. It's better to have 1 if you're sure of just 1 answer.
Re-order Para
Find the independent sentence first. Then find it's Object, that will be the subject of the next sentence. Familiarize yourself with SVO format (SVO = Subject Verb Object)
Fill in the blanks - reading
Once you're done selecting all the words, RE-CHECK. It's important, as sometimes you will realize there is a better answer and you have mixed up the answers.
Fill in the blanks - r&w
Read briefly first because you need to understand the MEANING of the phrase. There will be clues by word pairs. Practice Word Pair usage.
LISTENING
Summarize Spoken Text
You can write exactly as you heard it. If you can type fast, no need to write it down, just type directly.
Multiple Choice, Multiple Answers
Listen well, and understand the questions.
Glance at options but if it's confusing you, better focus on the question first.
Fill in the blanks
I write on the notebook, then I quickly check where the next blank is so I can prepare. I don't spend too much time looking at my notebook I just write legibly and focus my eyes on the computer screen.
Highlight Correct Summary
As you listen, write down keywords.
LISTEN & UNDERSTAND
Select the Missing Word
It's important to read the instructions, because the TOPIC can be found there.
Highlight Incorrect Words
Get ready. Place cursor at the start of the text. Run the mouse along the audio.
If you missed to click any word, just remember it and click after the audio stops.
Write from Dictation
Listen, understand, remember then type.
It helps to repeat the sentence in your head.
Overall Score: 90
L: 90
R: 89
S: 90
W: 90
Final Tip: Manage your time well in Reading part. I almost did not finish this part, I consumed too much time during the start and I noticed time was almost up, my adrenaline helped me, having to guess some difficult parts, so I can reach the easier parts and gain sure points. My reading test started from Fill in the blanks - r&w then to Multiple Choice, 1 Answer.

Do not lose focus kung meron ka na-miss na tanong. Ok lang yun. Try to repeat, as much as you heard and can recall. I know I missed at least 2 sentences, pero still naka-90 ako sa speaking.
Thanks.

Lastly, practice ng practice lalo na sa same environment as the PTE exam, meaning - mag practice ka while nasa MRT, or sa maingay na coffee shop - kasi if you study sa tahimik, then it’s entirely different sa actual kung saan mga katabi mo e ke iingay (we can’t blame them kasi they are giving their best shot din sa exam - yan lang ang ni positive thinking ko sa katabi kong local na muntik ko na talagang sikuhin sa ingay hahaha).
With practice - you’ll eventually get it. Ganda na ng scores mo sa rest - kayang kaya mo na yan next time.
Worthwhile to identify din yung other areas (in your case sa Listening - kasi perfect ka na sa reading, writing) - na can contribute sa speaking scores. Goodluck

Proficient (score 65) 10 points
Superior (+79) 20 points
Note : if nasa skills assesment stage ka pa lang, ensure na PTE is accepted. Sa EA kasi kung saan ako nagpasa, they only accept IELTS
