hi ms @cassey. im a registered nurse in the philippines with 4 years hospital experience. and im currently here in singapore working as nursing attendant in a nursing homes for 2 years. and im planning to take ielts this may 2018. im interested to work in australia po. ask lng po ako ng 1st step na dapat ko pong gawin or dapat na iprepare. thank you in advance
Hi, Are you planning to apply here as a Nurse? You can do a BP Course which takes around 3mos at the moment. You just have to have an assessment with AHPRA. You need to at least have a 3mos fulltime experience as a Nurse within the last 5yrs to be eligible.
Hi, there is no need to contact AHPRA. You just basically need to send your documents to them and wait for the Eligibility Letter that they’ll send you para makapagenrol ka to a Bridging Program. Goodluck on your English test.
1. CV should be original. All photocopied documents need to be notarized as well as the CTC’d copy.
2. Only COGS needs to be sent directly from PRC.
3. Around 1-2 mos
4. At the moment, it’s still 3mos.
You’re very much welcome. All the best on your Au journey. God bless sa exam. Have your documents ready para isesend mo na lang sa AHPRA kapag nakapasa ka na. Don’t hesitate to ask kapag may tanong ka. :)
Hi, Personally, i would go for the BP kasi wala namang bearing sa paghahanap ng work yung tinapos mo rito sa Au. Isa pang reason is, laging nagchchange yung rules dito sa Au which I’ve witnessed myself. Dati mas marami silang iniinvite, ngayon it was cut down..tapos patagal ng patagal ang processing time sa mga visa. The longer the course, the riskier. Ask yourself kung kakailanganin mo ba ng longer course and what you’ll get from it.. After all, depende pa rin naman sa circumstances mo yan like your would be points, finances, etc.
Thank Ms Cassey. Original plan is the BP, medj nalito lang po ako kasi sabi nila mas matagal ka mag stay sa Au, mas madali raw po ma-PR. Kaya napaisip ako between the two! Thank you so much for answering so quickly.
Oo mas matagal ka makakapagstay like for a year pero in that span of time, maraming pwedeng mangyari or changes. If you choose to do 1yr conversion, makakapagwork ka ng 20hrs a week. Pero it doesn’t mean na mas madali kang makapagPR. Ang PR is based on your points o kaya sa state nomination.
My OET results came in and I got B in all the subtest except for speaking which is C+. Do you know if there’s a school in Aus who will accept that kind of marking?
By the way, my aunt recently told me that they could help me petition my papers to get in Aus. They are already Aus Citizens. I told them that I wanted to go to Australia even if I don’t work as a nurse first. I just want to find a job first then save money for the BP. Is it possible to apply for an immigrant first? If possible, do you know the process?
There is no direct pathway even if you have relatives here in Au. You will still have to be invited before you can lodge for a PR Visa. There’s a 489 visa if you want to be sponsored by your relatives but you will still have to study and be a nurse here because a skill assessment is needed. Without a positive skills assessment, you can’t apply.
I've bee reading your old posts sa tread and learned that you are working sa Chemist Warehouse. I am also a pharmacist from the Philippines currently studying at Tasmania. I find it hard na makahanap ng part time job sa mga chemist dito. Sobrang bihira na may asian sa store. I am currently working sa cafe but I prefer to get a job sana sa chemist para in line pa din sa profession ko. I am planning to sit KAPS again next year. Any tips working sa chemist?
Hi, medyo mahirap ngang makapasok most of the time parang tsambahan lang din. Usually, nageentertain sila ng applicants pag may vacancy. Tawag tawag ka lang and ask pag may vacancy or check mo sa website. I suggest na you take up Cert 3 in Community Pharmacy dito sa Au para may edge ka at pansinin CV mo. Anong course na kinukuha mo if you don’t mind me asking.
Pharmaceutical Science, I plan to work din kasi sa industry kung magkakaron kaya I took this course. But, my sister told me to sit the kaps again para lang may backup in the future after I graduate. Actually, in general, mahirap talaga makahanap work dito sa Tassie.
Hi mam casey, nabasa ko mga response nyo sa mga kapwa pinoy and hope you could also help me the same way. Will be in australia po to take early childhood education and care at atq college pero nurse po kami dito pinas. Someone e-mailed me po na once na7 ko all areas of IELTS or passed the OET I may message him for a job offer. But I am also planning to take a BP I have taken IELTS twice but I always get 6.5 in writi bff. Do you know anyone who is also studying this course mam?d ko po kasi sure kung how long would I be able to earn the money needed po for BP?
Hi, if you can’t get all 7 in IELTS, you can try PTE. It’s much easier than IELTS. I would suggest that you take BP straight away so you won’t waste your time and money. What job is he or she offering? Is it an RNjob? You can only apply as an RN if you are registered here in Au. Minimum pay for an odd job in Au is around $18 an hour and as a student you are only allowed to work 20hrs a week.
Hi Miss Cassey. I would just like to ask for an advise. :)
I am currently waiting for an offer letter to take the bridging program for nurses in January. I would also like to know if advantageous ba or beneficial if I also apply for RPL prior to taking my bridging course?
Hi Miss Cassey! I have been reading infos regarding BP & APHRA and I hope you can help me po.
I am currently processing my student visa under an agency. I have an overall IELTS score of 7 but have a 6.5 score in writing and reading. I have tried taking it twice already, unfortunately di po ako nakaka 7.
My agency offered me an aged care course po and told me to use this as a point of entry. Once a week daw po pasok and I can take up Ielts or english course at the same to prepare para po makapg take ng aphra.
My question po is, kung igrab ko po yung suggetion nila. Is it possible na wag ko na ituloy yung Aged Care Course kung makapasa na po ako ng APHRA?
Hi, before doing that I suggest that you try other English test like PTE (it’s much easier than IELTS). If you will enrol to an Aged Care Course, you will be doubling up the cost like school fees, visa fees, etc.. Before you can cancel your Aged Care Course, your provider should approve it and mind you some providers may ask you to pay for the whole fee even if you’re not finishing it.
After mong magBP, you have to apply for registration sa AHPRA here in Au. Then get a skills assessment from ANMAC. Through this skills assessment, malalaman mo kung ano yung makukuhanan mo ng points at sila rin yung magsasabi kung suitable ka to migrate or not. Ang inaassess nila yung paid experience lang. Kapag suitable ka to migrate, pwede ka ng magapply for an EOI then kapag nainvite ka pwede ka ng magapply for PR. Pwede kang magapply for PR as long as may enough points ka. You just need to find an employer to sponsor you,
Advantage ko daw po di ako uuwi agad after taking bp kase good for 2 yrs yung student visa. Makakaasikaso daw po ako na nasa Aus na and can apply po onshore. What do u suggest po?
Hi, If I were you I will not make it complicated. Hindi kasi basta basta na magsta-stop ka na lang on your Aged Care because that will be a breach on your visa. With the BP, it’s an everyday class kaya I’m not sure how you’ll do it plus will your school really allow you to be absent for few months. Sometimes, madali lang for agencies na sabihin na sila bahala but in reality ikaw lahat ang sasalo nun, it’s not them. Pwede ka namang magapply for another student visa kung gusto mong magstay pa rito sa Au.
Hi, I’m well. thanks. Good on you. :) Yung sa PR, it will depend on your total points for migration. If you have at least 70 points then there’s a high chance that you will be invited for PR. But if it’s 65 medyo matagalang antay.
I see, you can try to take the NAATI test, you can get 5points from that. Or you can complete a degree or qualification for 2yrs here in Au, that’s another 5points. Or wok in Au for a year which is equivalent to 5points din.
Miss Cassey, I have a new dilemma po. As for ANMAC, will they assess me po even if I dont have a paid working experience?
You’re welcome.
Hello Ms Cassey! I just graduated last year po and now an RPh. I just planned to move there in Australia or New Zealand as a student or worker- PA or PharTech. If I enter as PA, would it be better if I work in the community or a hospital here in the Philippines? I also attended an education forum recently. However, the most likely Masters I might take is MS Public Health (PH) or Biotech and Business. Or should I pursue MS Pharma? Is it practical that I take this considering all the costs? I also plan to apply for scholarships but then of course there's no assurance that I might get one. Do you have an idea din po of the state of PH and chances that I get to work there after school? Can I work as part time PA while studying? Thank you and God bless! :)
I don't have relatives or sponsors po BTW so I'm more keen on entering as student considering my lack of work experience. But I'm also worried about funding. A school offered their MS Public Health degree for AUD22k which is still super expensive :(
Hi, unfortunately there is no easy way to enter here in Au. Yes, you can study here but it’s not a guarantee that you can apply for PR later on. To apply for PR, the occupation should be on the list of occupations that are in demand here in Au. You should also have a positive skills assessment for that occupation and of course, an invitation to apply which would depend on your points for migration. If you’re an RPh, you can take the exams and have your internship here in Au for it to be recognized here, that is if you want to practice as RPh here.
Another route is for you to study PharTech but you’d have to have an experience otherwise you won’t get a positive skills assessment. You can only work for part time which is 20hrs per week. Yes, you can apply for any work as long as you’re not choosy.
I don’t think it’s worth it to study those courses you’ve mentioned like Public Health and Biotech. I don’t think they have a pathway for PR. .
Hi miss @cassey :) . Would like to ask po sana about gaining pr points po if may idea ka po. If i study conversion program 1yr and extend my student visa and study another course related sa nursing na 1yr (combined po will be 2yrs), makakaclaim po ba ako 5points for pr? Thanks
Hi, kung matatapos mo yung course and kung yung course is a degree, diploma, advanced diploma or trade qualification pwede mo siyang kuhanan ng points. Another option is to enrol in a 2yr Conversion course.
hello po maam cassey! i recently pass my english exam and im here on a student visa. I would like to ask help with regards to COE. di ba pwede ung purpose ko sa COE ko is for employment? and do i need to have reference letters from my supervisors in applying for bridging program? thank you po
I’m not quite sure, if you are here in Australia try calling AHPRA and see if it’s okay. There are some info that your COE needs to have. They call it Statement of Service btw. Check this link for the details. http://pinoyau.info/discussion/8762/nurses-what-you-need-to-know/p1
Good morning,Ms.Cassey. I am an Enrolled nurse here in SG. I had 1 year experience in the Philippines, but for it to be considered 5years recent,i have to utilise it this year max Dec(t’was last 2013). I would just like to ask a few questions from you,if you dont mind.
1. Should I take BP or conversion? BP has show money po dba while conversion doesn’t require it?
2.Considering the processing time for the requirements, will I still be able to use my experience last 2013?
3.What are the chances of being a Permanent Resident with the two pathways? Which one has a tad bit more of chance of getting the residency?
4. Since I only have to pay the first semester of the conversion program, would 6mos be enough to save money for the next semester’s enrollement?
Thank you in Advance,Ms.Cassey! You’ve always been informative & helpful!
1. If you are eligible to take BP, i would suggest you to do it instead of taking the longer route. I think with the show money, it would depend on what Uni it is.
If you want to stay longer in Au, you can do conversion course.
The reason why I’m suggesting you the faster route is because in a way it’s less riskier. Rules in immigration changes a lot and sometimes abruptly and without notice, so who knows what’s gonna happen in a year’s time. Just like what’s happening at the moment, they cut down the number of invites without notice. Even with AHPRA and ANMAC, policies may change too.
BUT it would still depend on your circumstances. Have an estimate of your would be points for migration and see how you go. Because even if you are an RN here if you can’t meet the points for migration then you can’t stay and work here permanently.
2. I think you still can use your experience, provided that you do it as soon as you can.
3. With Residency, whatever pathway you take it doesn’t have a bearing on the points. It will solely depend on your work experience, english test result, etc Not unless when you’ll do a 2yr course, that’s another story.
4. Depends on how much it is... :)
Thank you for the reply,Ms.Cassey. I have been so caught up with work. Sorry po for responding late. Ive read a lot of convo po dito saying na it would be easier to be a PR pag nagaral po sa aussie? Thats why i was planning po to take the conversion course po sa Deakin. I also heard Ma’am na bridging could be changed to 6mos na daw po? Also, the bridging program daw po for this year is full na daw po? that’s why im considering conversion po,Ms.Cassey..
If you’re a Ph nurse, it’s mandatory to study here in Au otherwise wala kang chance to apply for a PR. That’s a basic requirement. It will all depend on your points for migration. That rumor about BP has been going on since last year, i think may isang school ang nagconfirm na magiging 6mos na yung kanila but with the other Uni they said that it doesn’t apply to them. We can’t really be sure though. May mga school na TBA pa yung intake dates nila for this year. Around $30k yung binayad namin for the course.
Hi Ms.Cassey, naka Conversion program ako (1yr) sa Deakin, to start this July 2018. After I complete the program what are the chances na makakapag work ako as nurse jan sa Aus? Should I immediately look for sponsors or apply agad ng PR? I'm really stressed out right now kasi gusto ko lang na may solid plan ako before ako dumating jaan sa oz. Tnx
Hi, finding sponsorship would all depend on your overseas experience. If you have at least 3years of overseas experiences in a specialty area then I’d say that you have a chance to be sponsored. Either of the 2 visas naman pwede kasi let’s say nakahanap ka ng sponsor. While you’re on your 482 Visa, pwede ka namang magapply for a PR Visa. 482 visa may take months because employers need to verify your experience and draft your contract so it takes a while. Have you estimated your points for the PR Visa? Ngayon kasi matagal ang waiting time because they cut down the number of PR invites.
Kung Conversion ka, I’m pretty sure kukulangin ka ng time kasi after you finished your course, you need to register sa AHPRA which may take for a month then you have to apply for ANMAC LOD which takes 2-3mos. Then you have to apply an EOI then wait to be invited before you can actually lodge a PR application. Waiting time for the invitation may take for months depending on your points.
Hi @ cassey need your advice po... im currently in australia under VV, still waiting for AHPRA LOE, ayw ko na po sanang umuwe ng pinas, while waiting pede po kaya akong kumuha ng short courses and apply ng student visa and also say that lumabas na ang LOE for BP wala pa po akong makuhang slot to do IRON PROGRAM,please advice me po sana..
Hi, I wouldn’t advise you to lie about your circumstances kasi the risk is bigger. Parang mas gagawin mong complicated yung situation mo about having to get a student visa. It’s not easy to just drop it off once may LOE ka na kasi you’d have to get an approval from your current school para magshift ng course and they might ask you to pay for the whole fee rin plus you’d have to apply again for another visa depending on your circumstances. You’ll be doubling up the costs.
Is there a “no further stay clause on your visa”? If it does have that condition you definitely need to go home but if it doesn’t you can try to have an extension of your Visitor’s Visa.
Thank you po.
Sigurotry to email schools and see what they have to say. Kung gagawin mo siyang dependent, allowed siya to study for only 3mos. Pwede siguro siyang magAged Care o di kaya Disability course yun nga lang walang weight yun sa Nursing career niya.
Hello Ma'am Cassey! I'm a registered pharmacist na po dito sa pinas, and my tito is helping me to enter aussie (mooroolbark-based) via student visa, hopefully I'll get accepted before august. However po yung course na pinapakuha niya sa akin is Diploma in Community Service, are there any chance po ba na makakawork ako as part-time pharm tech while studying a different course?
Hi, to be able to work as a Phar Tech here in Au, you’ll have to study and get a Certificate for that otherwise employers won’t hire you. You can try to apply as a Pharmacy Assistant. Kailangan din ng Certificate for this job however some company provides free training.
Hello Cassey. I am hoping you can provide sound advice regarding my situation. I am 43 years old and studied here in Melbourne to be a nurse. I am now awaiting my ahpra registration. First, am I eligible to apply for regional migration scheme without any prior experience in nursing? Second, what other options do I have in order to permanently stay in Oz? I am currently under subclass 485 graduate visa and will expire May 2019. Thank you for any input you can give.
Hi, do you mean 489 visa? You can apply for 489 if you have a relative here in Au. Otherwise, you can try 189 or 190. These are visas for permanent migration and both are points based. Have you tried estimating your points? At the moment, state sponsorship 190 is faster than 189. You have to check the website for Victoria Sponsorship and see if you’re eligible.
After getting you AHPRA registration, you need to undergo ANMAC Assessment, they’ll assess whether you are suitable for migration or not. If you are deemed suitable then you can apply through Skill Select and wait to be invited. Did you take up the whole nursing course here?
RE: Aphra application, 1. Only Certificate of Good Standing is to be sent directly to APHRA? I am currently working here in the middle east so I have to send Certificate of Good Standing from here as well right? 2. Are all other documents can be a photo copy given it is certified true copy/notarized? 3. Do I have to notarized the application form (AGOS 40)? 4. Any thoughts about IHNA? I'm considering to apply there.
1. Yes, COGS from all the countries where you are registered or have worked at are to be sent directly to AHPRA.
2. CV needs to be original as well as your AGOS Form 40.
Submit photocopies unless otherwise stated and make sure to have all the photocopies notarized.
3. AGOS Form 40 doesn’t need to be notarized because you have to submit the original copy.
4. Sorry, but i haven’t heard any feedback from it.
Hi Ms. Cassey, pasensya na po but I have to ask some questions regarding Certificate of Good Standing: 1. Ano po ba ang requirements sa pagkuha ng COGS from PRC authorizing a relative to send to Aphra. 2. I also worked in Saudi; however, they only send their COGS through email. Meron po bang email add ang Ahpra for that purpose? 3. May idea po ba kayo how AHPRA assesses and processes papers of their applicants who graduated from universities na non-operational na? Thank you very much po.
Hello, Miss Casey. I’m a pharmacist in the Philippines with experience po. And I’m planning to work in Australia. I’m confused kung sa APHRA or APC website ako mag inquire. Hope you will reply and guide me po. Thank you.
Kumusta po? Newbie po ako dito and I was able to read your post about nurses. I am an RN from the Philippines with experience and recently moved here in Australia permanently. I wish to be an RN here kaya lang I am so confuse of the APHRA website. What should I do first? Thank you very much. Hope you will reply.
Hi, the only way that you can register here as a nurse is to study. Since may experience ka sa Phils, pwede kang magbridging course. Take ka na muna ng English exam. While waiting for the results, gather your documents. Then kapag okay na yung result mo, fill up the Agos Form 40. Then send that together with all the documents to AHPRA by Post. Ahpra will send a Letter Of Eligibility to you and then you can enroll for Bridging Course. After finishing the course, that’s when you can register here in Au.
Hello po goodmorning..
im currently working here in saudi as an Er nurse. Want ko po apply in Aus.
She is working as a nurse manager. Finorward niya po CV ko sa hospital nila hoping that I can get sponsorship. Sinabi niya din sakin na baka qualified daw ako sa international overseas nurse since im here in abu dhabi po since 2014. I am new sa forum po. I read all the comments here. You are helping a lot of our kababayans. Hoping to be enlightened po thanks po God bless!
Hi, Congrats! I don’t think they will sponsor you kapag hindi ka RN dito sa Au. Tsaka hindi ka pwedeng magpractice dito without getting a license here.
Once you finish the BP, that’s the only time that you can register here in Au.
This is done once you gain your registration here in Au.
Okay lang kung 2014 pa as long as it stays true to what it says or claims. Don’t forget to have all your documents notarized and in an A4 as well. Yes, you have to have a valid PRC license. You’ll be needing it after your BP course.
Photocopy your docs in A4 size and at the same time have it notarized by an Atty. Documents are to be sent to AHPRA through Post so no need to scan. Hindi rin kailangan na original copies yung isesend not unless nakastate that they want original copies. All the best, hope you’ll be able to renew your license. Have your docs ready like your reference letter which by the way has a certain format to follow, COE which needs to have specific details as well. God bless.
duration is only 3 months. If you can't find an employer to sponsor you, you'll have to go back to the Philippines.--->>> after BP po ilang months pede ka po mag stay sa AU while looking for a Nsg Job? and yung reference letter po ba for ANMAC po right? skills assessment...tumawag po salin Aecc Global sa Pinas qualified namn po daw ako to take BP ok rin naman fee nila to help me registration...thanks po ulit mam cassey
Hi maam..took the ielts po nung dec 2016.. ma eexpire xa ds dec 2018.. valid po ba to for bp?may nabasa kasi akong post dito sa forum na more than 12 months na dw ielts result niya, kaya dw di siya makaka apply for bp
