Hello, ask po ako ng advise. Sa Writing Essay, ano po ba ang rule sa pag gamit ng "First Person" pronoun? Dahil sa pag kaalam ko sa Essay bawal gumamit ng "First Person" pronoun, pero sa mga samples ng E2Language or PTE gumagamit sila ng "First Person" pronoun. Slamat

Hello, Sir! Di naman po ako 'expert' sa writing/essay pero I'll try to expound as per what I have learned nadin in IELTS po.

Hindi naman po bawal gumamit ng first person pronoun sa essays, pero ang una po nating pwedeng iconsider kung gagamit tayo ng first pronoun(I, WE, US...) is the 'instruction' or yung pinapagawa sa ating essay. Meron kasing mga prompt na humihingi ng opinions ng writers and prompts po na "Give personal examples.". For examples,

1.Do you think consumers should avoid over packaged products or is it the responsibility of producers?

2.Many people think that regions affect successful person. What is your opinion about native region and accomplished person’s influence on the region he belongs to.

Tinatanong po yung opinion ninyo, so you can use the first pronoun, like "I strongly believe that bla bla bla.

But not most of the time maganda gamitin yung first pronouns. Ganito po yan,

FIRST PARAGRAPH: Pwede mo isummarize or ireword yung title/prompt. Then pwede mo ilagay sa last sentence(for example) na, "In this essay, I will try to discuss the arguments..."

SECOND PARAGRAPH: Argument 1/ Positive side

THIRD PARAGRAPH: Argument 2/ Negative side

LAST PARAGRAPH: Conclusion... Dito ka po pwede na magexpound ng kung anong nararamdaman mo or yung OPINION ninyo kaya pwedeng pwede ka na gumamit ng first pronoun dito like: "In conclusion, this side si right and in my own opinion, I strongly believe that bla bla bla.. I also recommend that this issue be addressed bla bla bla.."

For prompts naman po na hindi hinihingi opinions ng writers, like:

3.Roles of governments, companies and individuals to combat climate change

      8. Pros and Cons of expreme/adventure sports

Dapat generalized po and hindi natin iaapproach na parang hinihingi yung opinion or example natin kaya di tayo gagamit ng first pronouns, or pronouns for that matter.

Sana po medyo naenlighten kayo sa tanong niyo sir @ceasarkho

Salamat sa detailed na pag explain. Solid ang IELTS lesson nga regarding dito and including reading and listening. So it means ingat talaga sa pag intindi sa Essay question. Susundin ko ito.
    • syousoonOZ
Yes sir, ang key po sa essay writing is yung prompt/essay question. Dun tayo magbabase kung opinionated or generalized discussion ang kailangan, which entails kung gagamit ba tayo ng first pronoun. :) Walang anuman po, sir! Sana nga makatulong sa writing po ninyo. :D

Nakakapressure if pagsabayin lahat. Kaya approach ko is divide and conquer. I solved first ang Speaking part, dahil intimidating nung una. But now pwede ko na pag laruan dahil alam ko na ang 75% correct approach. Ngayon prep ko is for Writing, to know the correct approach and how to apply. And I think the skills to summarize sa Writing will cover the Reading and Listening tasks. Dahil dapat u should able to quickly identify the topic, main idea, other supporting key points.

On top of that must know how to infer the meaning of unknown words, by using context clue. So this dapat mabilis kg mag determin ng topic and ideas.

To know the following I think mapapabilis ang pag-intindi ng question/passaage at masasagutan ng mabilis at tama.

      1. The purpose of the author
      2. Topic, Ideas, key points
      3. Positive and Negative ideas
      4. Conclusion

Correct ba pagkaintindi ko? haha =)

Tama sir. Importante ang reading and listening and nagccontribute sya sa writing marks. Referring to the paragraph ba yung enumeration mo diyan sir?

Regarding the purpose of the author, I think mas naaapply to sir sa reading. Mas okay kung unahin mo sir yung MAIN POINT, then key points and supporting ideas. Ang technique dito sir, sa essay writing, address mo agad kung anong essay ang hinihingi sayo, whether argumentative, opinionated, or discussion.

When it comes to SWT, Main advise is to look for the first and last sentence dahil dito mo mapipick up agad yung TOPIC nung essay. Then look for supporting ideas na in the paragraph.

      Tips in writing:

      1. It's important to brainstorm. Spare 3 minutes of brainstorming on pieces of idea na related sa essay question (positive, negative, pros, cons). Pwede mo naman itake down notes dun sa pagttype-an mo. Just make sure na di mo maclick yung NEXT. Haha.

      2. After brainstorming on relevant ideas, arrange your thoughts. guide na yung binigay ko sa taas sir na dapat or pwedeng nakalagay per paragraph.

      3. Always be wary of CAPITALIZATION sa start ng sentence.

      5. ALWAYS READ THE INSTRUCTION. Pag sinabing one sentence lang. ONE SENTENCE lang. Dito na papasok yung importane ng semicolon at comma together with independent and dependent clauses, tsaka syempre yung mga however, moreover, nonetheless etc. Para kahit madami ka pa gusto sabihin, you can concise it to just 1 sentence. Again, never forget to put PERIOD. Pag 50-70 words, lagi tignan yung word limit sa baba ng text box para maachieve ang 50-70.

      6. Wag ubusin ang time kakabrainstorm.

      7. Avoid using non-academic words. Personally, di po ako gumagamit ng ollocations masyado. I try to find/think of a strong academic word na pwedeng isubstitute sa mga collocations. For example, very difficult---arduous. (Para kung gusto ko ulitin yung difficult, pwede ko sila gamitin na di magagasgas.)

Then thesaurus sir. Para kung maliit lang yung iniikutan ng topic na words, atleast di maumay sayo yung computer kakaulit ng mga salita mo. I think this adds up to vocabulary rin sir.

      8. DASAL sir na kayanin lahat ng ibibigay na questions. and na ang maibigay satin na questions eh 3 na SWT at 1 essay writing lang. HAHAHA!

      Sana makatulong ulit! :)

Hi everyone!

I'm very happy to announce PinoyAu Forum's new app called "SimplyStall" . It's a new Gumtree like service for Pinoys in Australia but in a way better!

So if you have any items just collecting dust? Why not convert it to cash?

If you are selling new items or products or wish to give an item away for free then this might be a good avenue for you.

This project is a new initiative to unify and have a common portal for Pinoys in Australia to sell and share stuffs.

It's now available on Google Play and Apple App Store.

Please do try it out. I'd appreciate if you can help me spread the good news and start selling your old or new stuffs.
