General Skilled Immigration Visa - Step By Step Process

Hi guys!

I'm currently waiting for my SC 189 update (praying for a direct grant o🙂 , 4th month of waiting) but unfortunately, some of my certificates just expired a few days ago.

Question: Should I process the new ones now or wait for a CO contact? Anybody else in the same situation?

P.S. Certificates that expired a few days ago are my IELTS (taken last 2017), Phil. NBI and South Korean Police Clearance (both got last 2018).

Hello po sainyo!

Plan ko po sana mag claim ng points for relevant skilled employment for 5 points since mag one year na po ako ng work dito sa Sydney this October. Just want to ask ano pong documents ang necessary to prepare as evidence for work experience? Reference letter, Pay Slips, Contract pa lang po so far ang meron ako.

Hello po. I tried looking for answer sa thread pero medyo di pa din clear. Ask ko lang po if mag lodge ako ng EOI ngayon and abutan ako ng November 16 na wala pang invite automatic po ba na magbabago din yung points ko?

for ex: yung defacto/spouse na 5pts now automatic po bang magiging 15pts sa Nov 16 (may skillsassessment and competent english)? TIA!

@coolitz_12 Same po tayo ng situation and I believe yes, automatic mag change yung points natin but not the Date of Effect.

@coolitz_12 it’s 10 points for partner skills, just a correction.

Immigration has recently sent a memo regarding this to all registered agents. Ideally, skillselect will be updated but best to double check your end as the system for allocating points is still being developed.

@RheaMARN1171933 clarify ko lang po.. yung spouse ko po may positive assessment na from ACS and nakapag take na ng PTE with competent score. 10pts lang po yung makukuha ko? hindi po ba 10pts for skilled spouse + 5 pts for spouse with competent english?

@coolitz_12 ah yes, that’s another 5 points for English. I thought you were referring to partner skills 15 points earlier. You can’t claim more than 10 points in this category.

Hello @RheaMARN1171933, sorry to clarify lang yung sa partner skills/english, now merong 5 points for partner points (req is skills in list and competent english). Does that mean magiging +15 pts na yung makakameet ng criteria na yun (skilled partner + partner with competent english)?

Hi @Mizai01 that's what I understand sa explanation ni @RheaMARN1171933. Currently yung partner/spouse points is +5pts (skills in list and competent english) and magiging +15pts sya sa Nov 16 (10pts skilled spouse + 5pts atleast competent english).

@coolitz_12 ok pala ano? akala ko yung partner skills now na 5 points lang will translate to +10 points lang after Nov 16 bilang to have a positive skills assessment (for EA and ACS) e kumbaga naka package deal na meron ng competent english ang applicant.

It’s time to look at the effect of the significant changes to partner points from 16/11/2019

The following changes will be implemented on that date :

Partner points (only 1 score allowed)

10 points – if you are single

10 points – if you have a partner who is an Australian citizen or Permanent resident

10 points – if partner has an acceptable skills assessment and competent english

05 points – if your partner has competent english (IELTS 6,6,6,6 or equivalent)

00 points – any other case

Hi @datch29 oh ok. You have a point, if that is the case halos same points ang madadagdag sa mga single and yung may partner with skills assessed and competent english. I was in the assumption +15 pts since most sources indicated "10 pts for having a skilled spouse or de facto partner" unlike sa current requirement na nakaindicate dapat skilled and competent english.

Maybe maam @RheaMARN1171933 can provide some input on this.

@coolitz_12 @Mizai01 @ms_ane I woke up to your posts, apologies for the confusion, I was about to go to bed when I responded re partner points. @datch29 is correct you can only claim one - either you have a partner with skills and competent English or with competent English. Maximum to claim under this category is 10 points.

I’ve corrected that comment to avoid confusion for others. Hope that’s clarified.
