Paying for an application lodged outside Australia
All visa application charges are listed in Australian dollars (AUD). If you are paying a visa application charge outside Australia, payment will need to be made in the currency and payment method accepted by the Australian Missions where the visa application is being lodged. These Australian Missions cannot accept Australian currency.
See: Method of Payment Accepted at Australian Missions
The exchange rates used to calculate the visa application charge payable in a foreign country are updated periodically. While the Australian dollars (AUD) amount of a visa application charge may not change at this time, the amount payable in a foreign currency will change in line with the exchange rate and this may increase or decrease the cost of a visa application made overseas.
When you have found the charge or fee in Australian dollars (AUD), use the Currency Converter to find the equivalent amount in your local currency and the acceptable method of payment.
The foreign currency rates are fixed for six months and apply to all visa applications received by the department on and after the day the exchange rate is changed.
You may lodge you application outside Australia by contacting any of the department’s offices or you may be able to lodge via the department’s website.
Using a credit card outside Australia
If a credit card is used to pay a visa application charge outside of Australia, the amount payable will be the foreign currency equivalent of the Australian dollars (AUD) amount of the visa application charge advertised by the department.
The foreign currency amount will then be converted to Australian dollars (AUD) by the cardholder's bank. The amount paid for the visa application will depend on the exchange rate used by the cardholder's bank on the date the transaction takes place, and any fees charged by their bank. The amount paid may not be equal to the amount advertised by the department.
Note: Credit Card payments are in Australian dollars
MAy I ask for clarifications regarding this matter. Sa mga nakapaglodge na anong forex rate ang nacharge sanyo? Yung nasa visa pricing estimator kasi AUD6,160 which becomes PhP275700. Lumalabas ang forex rate na gamit nila is P44.75=AUD1 while most of the banks here in the Philippines sell AUD ranging from Php41-42. Though I plan to use credit card, I'm confused since my application is lodged outside Australia which falls in the first set of statement issued by DIAC. Mag overpay lang kasi ako sa CC para sa lodging kaya nagcocompute ako. Php17,000 din kasi yung difference.
Thanks sa mga sasagot po. 🙂

Uhmmm, I believe if you are lodging 189 online lahat ito - meaning you have no choice but to use credit/debit card...
Hope this helps!
