Non-ICT major with IT job experience

Hi. I'm planning to get assessed by ACS since I have been working in IT for 5 years now. Problema lang, nung makita ko yung criteria, dapat raw ICT major. May chance ba ako? BS Math kasi natapos ko, pero ang work ko naman ay sa IT.

@silverblacksoldier - there is a way to check kung ang degree mo has enough subject to be considered as an IT or non-IT major.. nasa ACS website yan.. I think it has something to do with the Percentage of IT related subject/units...please check..

meron na dito dati naging same case mo... so depende kung ang degree mo is BS math lang.. or BS math major/minor in computing (like sa UST yata under Computer Science Dept ang BS Math)..

after mo malaman kung considered non IT or IT ang course mo:

a) If it is an IT degree, then you can proceed with the skills assessment sa ACS

b) if it is a non-IT major degree, then you will need to go thru the RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) route... some sort of essays about how you learn/apply IT skills in your work...

@lock_code2004, salamat sa oras paghanap ng same case ko. tryko imesage si @batobats. nakita ko kasi yung RPL dapat raw 8 years job experience. e 5 years palang ako. thanks ulit

im not saying na hindi ka na pwede.. baka naman kasi iba ang subject components ng BS math mo..

check mo yung thread about ACS...

meron silang sinasabi na kung meron kang mga vendor certification, pwede na ung maging educational qualification as "IT diploma"

also, check the ACS website, may iba't ibang grouping assessment sila...

ICT major ang course mo, i think 2yrs work exp requirement
Kung ICT minor degree, i think 5 yrs experience
kung non IT degree, eto na ung RPL..

double check mo..

may nag post recently lang sa ACS thread.. 2 yr diploma in IT... negative ang ACS direct skills assessment... not comparable daw ang diploma..

so ngaun nag RPL sya.. check mo sa thread..

hi up ko lang po ito.

baka meron sanyo na same experience lately na Non ITC graduate pero IT experience. Pashare naman kung pano yung process. ako po kasi BS Math graduate with 5yrs experience. eto yung dilemma ko ngayon. salamat!

@icebreaker1928 Yung sakin po 2 year IT course from MFI, for RPL kasi dati 8 years minimum required. di ko lang sure ngaun with the new ruling ng acs na may binabawas sa experience mo. Hope this helps. Thanks!
