Australia's wages are higher, but are expats really any better off?

After a four-year degree, surveyor Robert Rameka discovered he was earning the same amount of money as his brother who had left school for Australia to drive a forklift.

Krystal and Warwick Green left Hawke's Bay on a whim, took three days to find jobs in Queensland and are earning triple what they did in New Zealand. Now owners of their own home and with a baby on the way, they have no plans to return.

Despite the global fears of another recession, I would like to think Australia's in a great position to weather it all...and that means they should still be taking in new migrants so apply lang nang apply 🙂

recession, back November 2008 or early 2009 the government gives AUD1000 (not sure amount) to Australian citizen per person, Mas mababa ng konti ang amount sa mga anak below 18 years old.

^ Not only to citizen, but also to ppl with working visa 457 type. I got mine (I was on 457 at the time) pero some of my colleagues never got theirs even if they're permanent residents.

you mean 457 visa naka receive ng money from the government. sayang 457 that time nun. anyway Permanent Resident na ako ngayun next october apply na ako ng australian citizenship mag review muna for exam. cheers

Sure thing! Wait namin yan. Just keep in mind immigration here in AU will be harder as time goes bye. With the current politics here in AU more pressure is being put into tightening the Skilled Immigration, but SA government is trying to put pressure sa Federal government to increase ulit yung intake here sa South Australia just like back in 2011.
