Hi Everyone,

Good day.

I'm currently processing my student visa under AECC Makati and will be taking an Advanced Diploma in Telecommunications Network Enginering in Brisbane. I have a few concerns before moving forward, please see my questions and details of my course below.

Intake: July 2019

Duration: 104 weeks including semester break

Fees: 17,000AUD + EF (250AUD) + OSHC (approx. 900AUD)

Balance: 3,400AUD every after 16 weeks

Room Rent: 200AUD max

Food: Don't know yet

Transpo: Zero (I plan to rent a room that offers free use of bicycle - if possible)

Loan: 400AUD/fornight (to be sent back here in Philippines)

I will personally fund my tuition fee balance doing part time work - kaya po ba given all the details above?
Based sa nabasa ko dito hourly rate is roughly 18AUD - how much is the net minus tax?
Do all of you strictly follow yung 20 hours work per week or there's an option to do part time na hindi declared pero do it at your own risk kumbaga? How risky yun option na 'to?
Is it viable to extend yung stay after graduating by enrolling to probably a Master's Degree then pathway to getting a PR na ba yun?
Ano po yung acceptable budget for renting a room including electricity, water, gas and internet?
Is it easy to find a part time work while holding a student visa particularly in Brisbane?
Any advise or tips sa mga future students na maglalakas loob tulad ko? Hehe!
Can I bring a family member or my partner and declare the person as a de facto?

I hope this also helps yung mga planning to fly to Australia na will be holding a student visa. Baka same concern din ng iba na sana masagot para po makatulong din sa makakabasa. Thanks all!

Be very careful lang sa mga agents, not all agents has a good intention. Sad to say some of them just want you to enrol us in a school that they can get a commission. That almost happened to me when my agent wants me to pursue a course in Melbourne, good thing my instincts brought me here to Tasmania where there are better chances of getting a residency afterwards.

To answer some of your questions

Yes kaya, ang tanong is how fast can you get a work and are you willing to do ANY kind of work. Here in Tas it took me 5 months before I got a permanent part time work. (I am a student as well).
What I heard from some pinoys here there is a certain amount of salary ($26/hr) before you get tax deductions.
The right term is 40 hours a fortnight (kada 2 linggo). Not 20 hours a week. Meaning you can work 10 hrs 1st week then 30 hours 2nd week or 18 hours 1st week and 22 hours 2nd week... BY LAW YES WE SHOULD BE WORKING 40 HOURS A FORTNIGHT. Be very careful, from what I heard may mga nagsusumbong kasi if nalaman nila yan. Though some companies still do that. Better if sila na magoffer sayo ng cash on hand. Not the other way around.
Yes, you can apply for Master's Degree, after that degree you are eligible to apply for graduate visa that let you stay for another 2 years then once you secure a permanent work you can apply for PR. I SUGGEST RESEARCH REGARDING QLD REQUIREMENTS.
Here in Tas, as low as $60 room only (but very rare yun), usually $130-180 all in. Including net, electricity, water. In my case, I am house sharing with an aussie, $100 all in na kami ng family ko.
Brisbane is a big city unlike Hobart, I think it is much easier to find a job, again as long as you are not picky.
Do lots of research, especially sa state na gusto mo puntahan. Sa school ko, 95% ng students came from Sydney and Melbourne... Why? In simpler terms, naghigpit na yung major cities in giving visas. Pinapalipat na nila sa regional areas yung mga migrants. Next tip, PRAY. We need it.

@ariisoka I also have plans in going to AU. Currently in discussion with a consultant based in Sydney. I am an ECE graduate here in the Philippines and have 10 years experience sa BPO. Offer nila sakin is Project Management, naghahanap pa raw sila ng school for me. @onehitwonder may advice ka?

@VaLaV Anong nominated occupation mo? Have you had your skills assessed? Common mistake na nakikita ko sa students hindi pa sila ready sa documents like english exam, skills assessment, etc nearing graduation. Best to know your chances of pathway if your documents are ready.

@onehitwonder thanks for very detailed answers. I am looking at studying nga sa regional area probably in Adelaide. I've been to MEL for a few weeks visit and I don't think there's a big difference kung mag stay ako sa regional area. Do you think okay lang mag enroll sa "institute" instead of "university"? The reason I asked is my local agent suggested yun particular school na yun sa Adelaide based sa qualifications ko at yung gusto ko nga na mag regional. Then, they also suggested I get a diploma course first and package it with a a degree so total na 2 years yun studies plus another 18 months extension. What do you think? Thanks ha.. very much appreciated all your inputs here.

No difference if institute or university. Kasi pathway lang naman, though may additional points yata if more than 2 years ka nagaral. Please assist to check if nagbibigay pa sila ng points regarding this. Also make sure that the institute you are going for is CRICOS registered, on second thought, suggested school sya ng agent so baka registered sya.

The Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) is a register of Australian education providers that recruit, enrol and teach overseas students.

Registration on CRICOS allows providers to offer courses to overseas students studying in Australia on student visas.

Pwede naman po siguro eto. Just did my research today. For now lang siguro kasi yan ang pinaka madali kong pasukan na trabaho pag nanjan na eh.

Hindi ko pa po alam san mag papa assess ng skill kasi sabi dito https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/working-in-australia/skills-assessment

In terms po sa part time madali po vah makahanap ng work jan as a student visa? like mga accounts clerks, cashier or ano ung mas madaling mahanap na part time job?

Plan ko kasi migrate as student visa muna then later on apply for PR na din, my Agent suggested sa Kaplan business school sa Adelaide as "Master of Accounting course" ready na po lahat ng documents ko, pero need ko po ng place lower cost ung rent and other expenses aside sa school and madali makahanap ng part time kasi, para ma sustain ko ung pag stay and sa tuition fee na din,

With regards to part time, yes there are part time available pero like what I said as long as you are not picky with jobs, then yes makakahanap ka. Though it took me 5 months to get a job.

Good on you if you are taking Masters. But I suggest you to check your current points and compare to the current points requirement ng SA for Accountants. I heards mataas points requirement ng SA, Like for my nominated occupation is 85 pts.

@VaLaV sorry ngayon ko lang nabasa yung message mo. Try to tag the person you are replying to para they will get notification.

Go to this website. Type-in yung nominated occupation mo then it will show the assessing body kung saan ka magpapaassess. By checking the information provided by anzscosearch, you are eligible for Visa 187 Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme. Maybe meron ka pa skill na pwede ipaassess na nasa Short or Medium-Long term Skill Shortage List ng AU? Check the info on 187 here.

Your assessing authority: VETASSESS

Based sa anzscosearch, walang state open to sponsor Call Center Manager. Maybe double check with a migration agent as I am not 100% sure with this.

@onehitwonder - really thank you sa info.. I think were the same lang po 85 points ( not sure, will ask my agent later). Sabi naman ng agent ko, maka add ako ng 5 points pero still Praying na makayanan ko, para ma aim ko ung PR later on and makahanap ng full job as well. kasi mag isa lang ako mag BM.

Target ko to take this november2019 intake.

Sana makilala and ma meet ko kayo jan sa adelaide and baka lang po my ma recommend kayo na room or sharing a room na malapit sa Kaplan school.

@Conqueror Tasmania based ako. 🙂 For sure makakahanap ka ng work sa Adelaide, bigger city yun and definitely maraming kababayan dun na ready tumulong. Check FB pages or group ng mga pinoy dun para matulungan ka nila.

Dito sa Tas marami ako pinoy na nameet sa Church, basketball league and be active sa filipino gatherings.

@onehitwonder hi. just want to ask your advise too. i’m planning to take a 52 weeks vocational course in Cairns - Certificate IV in Accounting. and hoping to find an employer who can give me a working visa after the course. appreciate your thoughts about it. thanks in advance

Hi, @tonilicious0613 considered regional area ba ng QLD yang Cairns? If yes, I think good chances ka to get residency after your course. But I suggest you get an assessment on your skills and educational background first. You will base your eligibility to apply for 489/190 on your points.

I don't think employers can give you a working visa after your course? Have you researched this? Or maybe you are referring to employer-sponsored visa? According to my agent it takes 2 years to process.

sorry but can you let me know pano mag pa assess ng qualification sa AU.

nag try na kc ako mag ask sa isang agency and I was advised na since hindi ako CPA and prime age na, I dont have chance na for skilled nominated visa esp na ang taas ng required points for accountants which is currently 85 points.

and yes i’m aiming for a employer sponsored visa sana after ng course ko. also i would like to ask if ever ba i can apply for temporary graduate visa after ng VET study ko.
