489 Visa: What if I can't find a job in my line of work? Can I try for other state?

I think I did read somewhere that if you struggle to find work and contact DIPB they do on occasions make exceptions. Is this also applicable to visa 489 holders?

I'll be moving to Adelaide Q1 2020 so I started browsing seek.com.au and there are only a handful of IT jobs. And I only found 1 that fits my skillset. That got me into panic mode.

489 requirements is to work full time kahit anong line of work.

I tried to move to another state when i found out there's no job in my field in my current state. DIBP said need to have a strong evidence of finding a job even if its not in line of my work, to make the story short I ended up getting new job in the same place. Now I'm a citizen. Diskarte mo na yan 🙂

@ajet02 ok lang kaya kung nakatira ako dun sa state na nagbigay sakin ng 190 pero nakawork from home ako kasi yung employer ko is from another state?

@jaceejoef Sa sponsoring state humihingi ng release letter at hindi sa DIBP mismo. Pagdating mo sa SA I suggest you attend Immigration SA's workshops for sponsored migrants. Sinasabi nila dun na kailangan merong back-up plans sa job hunting. Syempre Plan A is to find a job na aligned sa work experience mo. Pero ang suggested back-up plans nila is to apply for jobs na closely related pero hindi eksakto sa work experience, and last resort is to get a survival job. Nung nag-attend ako ilang beses nila kami niremind about our obligation to live and work in the state. Kaya sa tingin ko baka pareho ang stand nila dun sa state ni @ajet02 na kailangan may proof na wala talagang makuhang maski anong trabaho bago mag-issue ng release letter.

this, as far as I know, is okay.

ah, got it. technically pwede magpalipat ng state but as last resort.

yes, I'm planning to attend the workshops. gusto ko lang kasi malaman anong mangyayari kung wala talagang work mahanap. at least I'll know the di masayang ang visa ko in worst case scenario.

@jaceejoef Nakakuha ako ng job na aligned sa work experience ko after almost 3 months. In that time, 3 job postings lang ang nakita ko na eksakto sa hinahanap ko so nag-aapply din ako sa related and not-so-related jobs. Pagbutihin mo yung applications mo for the jobs you really want and kung mainvite ka for an interview, prepare well for it. Hindi rin ako hinanapan ng VEVO until after ako bigyan ng JO. So mukhang visa type wasn't a consideration at all basta allowed magwork fulltime.

that's good to hear. nakaka motivate! any tips for the interview?

I forgot but I read it either here in the forum or its FB group counterparts. I was asking this very same question and they told me I can work remotely. So I'm technically working in my sponsored state. best is to confirm this to your sponsored state

@jaceejoef I suggest i-save mo yung job postings na ina-applyan mo para pag na-invite ka for an interview, pwede mong ireview yung main requirements for the job and magpractice kang sagutin why you meet each of those requirements. Hindi kasi pwedeng generic ang sagot. You have to show na ikaw ang tamang candidate for that specific job. Tsaka mas madali rin to answer fluently kapag nakapagpractice. Google mo rin yung mga common behavioural questions for job interviews and practice answering them. Natutunan ko yan sa isa sa mga workshops ng Immigration SA and that was very useful.
