For Accountants - how long did it take you to get a job?

@vamdcpa Good Day po! ang galing galing nyo na man po. 1st time ko pong magtake ng Acad IELTS last May 19 kaya lang I only got 6.5 sa writing. the rest 7 and above. I requested for remark last week. Hopefully maging 7 ang writing ko. anyways po, can I ask what did CPA Australia require for the assessment? May mga nabasa kasi ako that they require syllabus kaya lang, i have none. i've got TOR, Diploma, PRC Certificate and COE.

Hi! I'm a recent CPA board passer last May exam so wala pa akong work experience except for my OJT during the undergrad. I don't know how to start but kailangan ba may experience pa ako? I was also thinking of student visa na lng. I really wanna move na kasi to Aus for my boyfriend but hindi pa kaya ako maging dependent since he is still studying in Aus. Thanks! Any advice will do. 🙂

HI @JillmaySerrano, yes kailangan ng syllabus kasi they will assess kung yung academic program na tinake mo ay equivalent to an Australian degree. Kukuha ka sa dean's office nyo or sa registrar.. If wala alam ko yung iba tyinaga na gumawa ng sariling course outline. It will take much time and effort though!

Basically, CPAA provides the Skilled Employment and Qualifications portion of the point test system.

Bagong dating ako last year 4 weeks ng makahanap ako ng work, audit job pero hindi internal audit. Then nag resigned ako after 8 months, next na job ko internal audit na pero contract jobs lang sa protiviti. 2 months din bago ako nakahanap medyo nahirapan. Then habang may contract job, nakahanap ng internal audit job permanent role sa isang bank (not big 4) pero based in Queensland kaya nagmoved kami from melbourne =)

What's the best way to land a job in Australia? Do I study for 2 years again or Should I get myself assessed with CPA Australia? There's a CPA program na kasi na you can enrol into here in the Philippines pero baka employers from Australia still prefer CPAs who graduated in Australian universities.

the best way to land a job in australia is for you to have a stellar job experience prior and ensure that this get conveyed your CV when you look for a job...

do well in the interview and perhaps you will get the job. ain't easy but it ain't impossible as well...

medyo tough ang market for internal auditors. malaking bagay ang local experience, pero kapag desidido ka malamang makakuha ka rin ng job role sa IA

@vhoythoy 7 yrs EA (big4) ako and currently 2yrs IA (private). To be honest mas naenjoy ko ang IA kaya naman IA jobs ang target ko sa oz. Im pursuing cia and crma certifications to increase my chances. But since I only have 2 yrs of pure IA, do you think mahirapan ang case ko for job hunting?

not sure though. basta sa ia bukod sa credentials, dapat ung communication skills mo at confidence eh pulido. alam mo naman work ng ia. un ang tinitignan nila second lang mga certifications. i plan to pursue ca, naghahanap lang ng timing for sure this year

guys share lang. currently job hunting din ako for an IA post. kakarating lang namin 2 weeks ago. nainterview na din ako couple of times last week and madami dami namang calls. kaso wala pa updates as of now. iba talaga kapag big 4 pnaka last work mo. mas madali makakuha dito. partner ko from PwC Pinas, kakastart lang nya sa Deloitte last Wednesday. hehe atleast isa samin may work na di masyado pressured makahanap pero hopefully magkaron na din ako agad para mas masaya hehe 🙂

@KMA Interested lang po how did your partner land the Big 4 job? Normal process na pasa ng CV lang ba tapos interview? May nabasa kasi ako na most firms ngayon by referral basis na mostly ang hiring. Most of my experience kasi sa Pinas e sa Big 4 galing so interested ako about my chances once I'm there na, although malayo-layong lakbayin pa. Haha. Thank you and good luck po sa job search! 🙂

Hi. actually dapat PwC dn. nilakad sya ng partner sa Ph sa partner sa Syd (w/c is not always the case) nataon lng na ka-close nya partner nla. kaso ang tagal ng process ng PwC Syd, wala kasi ata talagang vacancy. Pero sabe ko apply pa dn kmi online para dami options habang nasa Ph pa. Aun sa pinas plng tnawagan na sya for phone interviews (HR & Partner), then paglapag namin dito face to face tas the next day nagoffer na. Well 3 years ago PwC din ako, lumipat lng ng private. sya dre drecho. iba siguro talaga pag magmove out ka from big4 tas transfer dito sa big4 din. or baka swertihan din. iba iba din kasi. hehe
