Concession for 191

hello, fellow pinoyau forum members.

we were granted a state/territory-sponsored 491 visa in November 2020. as we all know, Australia's international borders have been closed for quite some time now due to the nasty Covid-19 pandemic. with recent news pointing to mid-2022 reopening of its borders (sana lang totoo na ito!), may I have your ideas/estimates/predictions on the nature of concession that DHA may provide to 191 visa applicants?

useful information: Australia has been closed from Mar 2020 and it may only potentially open in June 2022. by the time we enter Australia, say, July 2022, we will have used up 2 years and 3 months of our visa (out of 5 years).

so, technically, fulfilling 3 years of both residency and working duration requirements cannot be fulfilled anymore as we would be left with 2 years and 9 months visa validity only.

i believe some fellow 491 holders may be thinking of this same question.

erratum: we would be left with 3 years and 5 months (out of 5 years) if we successfully entered Australia by July 2022.

still possible to fulfill both the residency and work duration requirements, but that would be very very tight.

let me know if you get any reply from them. Last time I have emailed them, I only got a automated reply about the lockdown and such.

I am holding a temp visa too but its 489.

last Oct 2019. We were supposed to move last March 2020 after a lot of preparation(selling things, property, etc.) the too bad covid hit.... dang.... up to now waiting and waisting our visa time. Sana nga talaga me concession. I even joined some telegram group for 489/491 visa to get insights and joint planning.

so, visa validity mo is until Oct 2023. may concession malamang yan kasi hindi natin control ung Covid. may isa din alam ko na nag-grant ng 489 sa NT, Nov 2019 si @FearFactory_17. hindi rin siya nakaBM due to Covid.

pagpray na lang na totoo na ung mid-2022 na reopening ng borders.

Meron pong petition s isang group s fb regarding s visa 489 and 491 para s extension ng visa..

hello, @jennette. travel exemption ung sa link. Ang visa extension hindi yata nage-extend Australia ng visa validity, concession binibigay nila like ung 887 visa sa 489 visa holders.

that link is for travel exemption and some mix temp visa.

you can try searching "SSMORA" on FB group for 489/491 visa stranded offshore. daming discussion dito and plan on how to proceed with next course of action to hopefully achieve extension, etc.
