40 yo to take student visa as a pathway to PR... possible?

to employer sponsor or 491/190 visa?

Hi @Alvarado1010 , i think a bit difficult for us na pumatak ng 40, lalo na pag student visa. other option is probably employer sponsor talaga or other country. just my opinion.

My opinion as well, sobrang hirap. Wala pa ako naririnig na success story from a student visa na nasa age group natin. Mahaba kasi ata yung process. Do you research really well. All the best, my opinion lang din ha.

@Alvarado1010 I think 2 things to consider - first, the skilled immigrant visas require the applicant to be under 45 years old so magagahol ka sa oras if you're already 40 tapos mag-student visa and graduate visa ka pa. Second, yung points for age goes down by a lot when you reach 40. Hindi natin masasabi kung ano ang magiging minimum required points once the pandemic ends so I think it would be safer to have as much points as possible.

Kung nasa PMSOL ang occupation mo maybe you can try looking for an employer who will sponsor your 482 visa, para at least andito ka na.

Inisip ko mgtake ng PMSOL. pero un nga baka gahol sa oras at gastos pa.

Hi! Me and my wife are planning to move to aus in the future. She's a doctor who just finished her residency. On the other hand, I'm working in Marketing. Currently, our options are:

I apply using student visa. I am also interested din kasi in furthering my studies.
Wife takes AMC (Australia Medical Board) exam.
Wife goes for the specialist pathway.

Given these options, ano po yung mga possible roadblocks namin given our intent to move to aus? Salamat po!

Are you and your wife nearing your 40s (as this thread is focused on the age)? If so, as commonly suggested, it's better to consider skilled migration directly rather than student visa, because having a student visa is not an assurance of getting PR (although you do get additional points).

If not (like you're in your early 30s), it's still an option to go with the student visa, but with the international border closed to non-Aussies, you will have to wait a while if you want to study onshore. What are you planning to study though? If you are using your further studies to get PR, make sure that your studies will provide you with a pathway to PR. I've heard getting an MBA or Leadership/Management will not get you anywhere, so research your options well.

I'm not a migration agent, but I'd suggest you consider all possible options and see which one can get you a PR invitation first. The trend nowadays is to go regional, so maybe look into occupations for visa 491.

It is still possible, but chances are very slim. Mahirap na talaga kapag at the age of 40 ka pa lang mag start ng journey mo. If you think you have a better chance in Canada then I think you should go for it.

after completing the course, age component is still there ata when you transition to PR (I may be wrong), you need to check this angle. + d natin sure ang covid situation by that time.

@France11 I suggest you guys focus on getting your wife qualified to practice here, so either option 2 or 3. Her occupation has a higher chance of getting an ITA in the future & unlike Marketing Specialist, her occupation isn't limited to a state-sponsored visa.

My nominated occupation was Marketing Specialist & it took me almost 2 years to get an ITA because not a lot of states sponsor this occupation & those who do, don't invite a lot of us. That was 3 years ago when it was generally easier to get an ITA. Right now, states are focusing on inviting onshore applicants but we don't know what the situation will be when you graduate.

Anyway, you can still study once you get here so you don't have to give up this plan. But I think if you want to move here permanently then your chances of doing so are much higher through your wife's occupation.

Hi everyone, first time posting here. Same situation and plan with @Alvarado1010 . I am an accountant with almost 20yrs of experience and the only downside is my age. I am planning of enrolling in a 1year course (IT/tech related to Actg) while also lodging my application for GSM (visa 190/491).

is this possible?
will my student visa affect my GSM application?
will I be consider an onshore applicant?
what are the implications?
