Hello anybody here who tried applying for hospitality works onshore (kumbaga po as temporary work)? I’m thinking coffee barista, like do they need or ask for prior experience. Because I do have some experience in coffee but on the processing part (grinding and cupping) and now I’m seeing some coffee barista courses online (administered F2F) and I kinda wanna take some. Baka lang gumana kumbaga as a way to put my foot forward to being hired. Thanks.

Gawa ka ng resume na 1 page lang then ipasa mo sa shops. Ang alam ko ittrain ka naman nila eh. Ako kasi sa Linkedin ako naghanap ng work nun tapos ayun naging Retail Sales Consultant ako sa Telstra at may training naman sila hindi sabak agad.

Hi, if you wish to apply for hospo jobs here, you need to earn certs like RSA and RSG in order to work sa mga bars or pubs. For Barista jobs, you can enroll in trainings, malakas foundations pag certified barista. Madami naman school nag ooffer ng trainings. Also, shops/restos/cafes will require you for a trial before you can get the job, most likely 2-3 hours some unpaid, some paid depende sa owner.

They prefer local experience or locally acquired certificate tbh. From my experience, even overseas experience ko, hindi inacknowledge when I applied for jobs.

Do you they will recognize trainings from here in the Philippines, I’d like to make it a sustenance job po kasi while looking for a job in my profession.

I have some friends who are students with no certificates or qualifications for hospo jobs but are working as baristas, kitchen hands, or in catering. All they did was ask directly if places were hiring, and they got trained on the job. Others got in more easily through referrals from a colleague or friend.

I think still depends on the profession/field. May iba na offshore madami na offers. For other professions, almost impossible ang offshore. Pagdating AU saka dapat sipagan maghanap

Yes, isa sa una nilang nakikita.

I think in my profession mas mapapansin talaga pag onshore, kasi more on if someone is willing and present, they will offer them the job..

Pero still tempering my expectations and not in a rush naman to move..

Had a phone call initial interview pala last Friday.

I think it went well, I also sent a thank you email to them mga around 4-5 hours after the interview.

So weekend came so expected na wala talaga reply. I also started sending out a few applications as well. Haha. Kahit na sinet ko yung June as big move date, I kinda wanna move na as soon as possible.

Yung tipong lahat ng kinaiinisan ko sa Pilipinas ay lumilitaw bigla. Especially with the looming election.

Nakakatakot mag move ng walang trabaho. Pero parang mas nakakatakot mapako dito dahil sa takot.
