Queensland has updated its state nomination program for the Subclass 190 and 491 visas, and the requirements are now stricter for both applicants and sponsoring employers.
Applicants will need stronger proof that their job and employer are genuine. This means providing clear job descriptions, correct occupation codes, and verified work history. On the employer side, small or newly established businesses will face tighter checks to show they have the capacity to sponsor skilled workers. Authorities also mentioned that verification and audits will be stepped up, so applications will be reviewed more closely.
Construction and trade roles remain in demand, but being in these sectors won’t be enough on its own — the higher standards still apply. The program is still open, but the message is clear: only well-prepared and genuine applications will have a chance of being approved.
