Centrelink and Medicare Registration

Mga Kababayan,

I will be travelling to Australia next month (January 2014) to look for work.

My wife and 2 kids will just follow in two months time.

Question po sana on Centrelink and Medicare registration. Required po ba sila na nasa Australia or at least nakapag-initial entry na?

Or pwedeng passport lang nila ang dala ko kahit wala pang tatak ng Australian Immigration?

Plan ko po kasi na i-register na sila on January.

@mtgrande technically pdeng passport lang nila dala mo. hhehe pero bkt mo dadalhin ung passport nila? Or uwi ka pa sa pinas ulit para sunduin sila?

Anyway, ung centrelink pdeng online lang, pero itatanong kase doon kung nasan ang wife at anak nyo. So mas ok if iregister mo na lang sila pag andito na sila. Anyway ung benefits for your family kase ay marreceive nyo lang if andito ang anak nyo. Yung medicare irrequire ung passport din nila or proof of identity. Kelangan mo ata pumunta sa medicare mismo to submit the Medicare application form. Yung form pde mo na sya idownload at iprint to get an idea ano mga kelangan isubmit. Don't forget to bring yung baby book ng anak nyo and maganda sana if may certification from Pedia kung anong mga immunisation ang nacomplete na nya.

By the way, pinakaunahin mo mgapply ng TFN (Tax File number, online lang din) at Bank account number (sabi nila pde online). Pde mo sabay gawin to. Once may TFN ka na, update mo details mo sa bank para mabawasan ung taxable amount sa savings mo. Kelangan pareho yan for Centrelink at Medicare (well bank account lang ata kelangan sa Medicare)

Hope this helps. Tanong ka lang. 🙂 While andito ka at wala pa sila, I suggest ayusin mo na rin ang driver's licence mo. If you're coming from Pinas, kuha ka certification from LTO kung ilang years ka na nagddrive.

Actually, nasa SG ako now, plan ko to move directly to Australia. Pero i still have contact with relatives in the Philippines, pwede ako makahingi ng certification from LTO. By the way, for Melbourne, I noticed there are 2 types of permit - Learners and Probationary. Alin po doon yung para sa atin?

Regarding sa bank, meron na rin po akong Account from NAB (migrant classic account), for activation and card collection pa once I arrived on 14th January. I already schedule an appointement with the Migrant Banker assigned.

So, dapat TFN pala muna unahin ko. Plan ko kasi to register myself in Medicare kasi nandoon na ako, pero if may way naman to register my wife and kids sana mas maganda. Dadalihin ko sana Passport nila then FEDEX na lang pabalik ng Singapore after registration. Not sure the risk involved though.

Normally, gaano katagal ba bago ma-register and ma-approve ang benefits ng Centrelink?

@mtgrande hndi mo sila ma register until maka initial entry sila.. Pag di ka pa kasi naka ied hndi pa activated ang pr visa mo sa immigration.. Naka link ang medicare at immi website at iba pang govt system..

Both ...

if you have a SG license from what people here have posted before you can have a full australian licensw

if not .. you need to go the the L = Learnners ( by going to the DKT exam - computer exams ) and once you passed your actual driving exam they will give you either a P = PRobationary or a full australian license based on your years of drivign experience

The certification will prove how long have you been driving in PH , tell the LTO to include the first issue date ... kung sa tingin mo na more than 3 years na kumuha ka .. or kung mag take ka ng actual driving test e mag 3 years ka kumuha ka ... if not then dont get one

@mtgrande if I may ask, gaano na po katagal ang Phil. driver's license mo? I will be staying in Victoria. At sa pagbabasa ko sa Vicroads website, I found out that if more than three years na ang Driver's license, full Victorian Driver's license ang ibibigay once naipasa mo na ang 3 tests, namely written exam, hazard perception test at yung actual driving test.

share ko lang experience ko.. I arrived here in Sydney last Aug 10 and sumunod lang family ko ng Sept 15. Nauna na ako nagapply for medicare then nag apply family ko noong dumating sila early September.. I submitted our Centerlink application mga October 3 since nag apply pa ng TFN ang wife ko which took two weeks... Yung centerlink application naming took 30 days to be approved..for some reason kasi nawala sa system nila yung ni submit kong papers... so I suggest na siguro better na I-follow up agad after 2-3 weeks just to make sure na alang problem sa requirements..

Centralised ba yan centerlink? Like pwede ka mag processed sa sydney then eventually mag stay ka sa melbourne?

@JCsantos and @StickyNote, thanks for your reply. I have a Prof License and it was first issued to me more than 12 years ago. It is still Active (Not Expired) until now. So I guess, I need to contact my relatives to get my Certification from LTO. Pwede po bang makahingi nito sa Regional Offices nila? May template po ba sila nito or aware na po ba sila about this certification? How much po ba?

I think kelangan po nandyan sila kasi I remember na requirement that they have to be physically in australia to avail of the benefits. Pag bigay mo ng passport photocopy nila iyun date of entry which wala pa hindi pa sila nakakapasok ng australia

mga sir/madame, ask ko naman po opinion nyo, once na na-activate mga visa naming family, pwede na kaya umuwi muna family ko? I will stay back in Oz then apply for Centerlink, Medicare etc. Is it required na nandito physical presence ng family ko when applying these OR sufficient na yung copy ng passports, Visa grant at arrival stamp?

Hi, I went to Centrelink office 3 weeks back. Pinag-fill-up nila ako ng claim ng Family Tax Benefit. Ilang weeks ba hihintayin ang result nun? Do I need to follow-up? Thanks.

@ruelcortez_BH..kung babalik ung mga anak mo ng Pinas medicare lg ang pwde mong e apply.. ung sa centrelink na family assistance ay hindi pwde kasi kailangan yan na nakatira sila sayo..
