Take note lang na bagsak ang Engineering industry ngayon ah. I am going on my 3rd month here and I am nowhere near an interview or even a positive reply sa mga inapplyan ko in my field and the openings keeps getting fewer and fewer. 3weeks ago, I started to look for other jobs na siyempre kahit papano may sweldo just to get us through the day like document controller, customer service representative, kitchen steward, cleaner, taga-buhat ng boxes for air freights and was declined right on the spot for most of them and yung iba hindi na nagreply.
It was then nakausap ko yung friend ko na naka-FIFO at may nakausap nga daw siya na local who said that "this is the worst ever condition sa Engineering" na dinadanas ng Australia. So let's just say that we came in at exactly the worst possible time. May balita pa na may malaking Engineering company na nagsara dito sa Perth which means that maraming nakalutang na Engineers sa unemployment table which means more competition for us. Siyempre mauuna na muna yung may mga local experience before us kaya tough luck.
Anyway I am not bringing out negativity in here pero this is a word from someone with more than 7 years of combined Engineering experience in Piping Design and Mechanical installations both in Ph and Abroad and yet can't be shortlisted for any jobs in the market. Sabi ko nga sa mga kakilala ko, "I am not being negative, I am being realistic."
FYI, my wife and I are already discussing the possibility of getting back to the Ph muna uli just until it picks up again at marami na muling opening. The rent is killing us here (240 per week, mura pa yan dahil may kashare kami ng bahay)
