AUSTRALIAN SCHOOLS - PRIMARY AND GRADESCHOOL

Good day po sa lahat ng mga forumers!

I have some concerns po regarding Schooling in Australia, I have a 5yo boy and a 9yo girl and I would very much appreciate if some of you could answer based on your experience the following questions:

How long before the school year starts in Australia do we actually start scouting for schools and contacting schools for application?
What are the basic requirements for school application?
How did your children cope to the new school?
Were the teachers /other students nice/rude knowing the difference in race?
Any bullying experience? how did you address it?

Based on our experience, if you are going to have your children attend public school, mas madali.. I have two kids : 8 and 13 yrs of age...They arrived here two weeks prior ng start ng 4th term.. Kinausap ko lang yung primary and secondary schools na nakakasakop ng suburb namin.. ni schedule lang kami ng meeting sa principal.. then ok na.. sinabihan na kami about the uniform.. fees.. etc..... nakaattend na sila ng last term..

nag inquire din ako sa private dati.. parang mas complicated.. kasi ni check pa nila kung may available slot kasi nga last term na...

ito yung mga ni submit namin: Birth certificate, immunisation records (sa bunso ko), school records, proof of address, passport, grant letter .. ito yung mga ni submit namin...
Madali lang nakapag adjust ang mga anak ko... super happy sila.. kasi ibang iba ang school dito.. relax lang dito... ala gaano assigments.. . unlike sa pinas na sobra pressure mga students..

4/5. Nasa public ang two kids ko.. so far ala naman silang bad experience on discrimination and bullying..lagi namin silang kinakamusta every dinner to make sure na ok sila sa school and alang problem.. we also remind them na pag may nangyari man na di maganda kausapin teacher or principal nila..

Ano po sub class visa nyo?

Kasi kami sub-class 496 na skilled designated area sponsored. Temp visa lng pero coming to Melbourne this march. Ang isang worry ko din ang studies ng mga kids ko. Aged 15, 12 and 8. Dyan po pa nasusunod ang age para I allign ung bata sa level. Kasi dito kami SG and na downgrade na 2 ko kids ung 15 & 12 yrs old.

@Shirlie ...subclass 189 kami... based on age sila.. last year.. first quarter lang ang pinasok ng mga anak ko sa Pinas then pag lipat dito 1 term lang din.. na promote naman sila sa next level na angkop sa age nila this year...

@wednesday..yup.. for example.. My family arrived end of last year.. so inabutan nila yung start ng 4th term for Year 3. ngayon nag start ang school year nasa Year 4 na sya..

@multitasking, question lang kami kasi dadating ng end of august this year, then my children should be 7th and first grade sa pasukan, can they be enrolled for their regular year or pagdating ng feb 7th grade pa lang sila

@chicagobohol hi.. my family arrived september and my kids attended the year level suited for their age starting October ( 4th term). Im just not sure of the age reqs.. pero kung yung age ng anak mo ay pang year 7 na.. yan ang magiging year nila when they start school here.. aabot pa sila sa 4th term

nag try na mga din ako mag email s isang school para mai consider 2 ko kids sa primary pero no reply padin. Do you think better visit the school na lng pagdating dyan?

@Shirlie.. based on my experience ok lang naman na pagdating na lang.. i suggest na mag email ka pa rin.. then pagdating mo rito..tawag ka kung ala.pa sagot.. very accommodating naman sila..

Hello @multitasking, good day po! I found your inputs here very informative saka na-relieve ako to know ok ang naging process nyo sa pag-eenrol ng mga kids mo dyan sa OZ. I am migrating to OZ din this April together with my kids aged 11, 10, and 6. I undestand na part of the requirements is Child Immunisation record. Since new immigrant kami pagdating sa OZ, ang meron lang kami yung baby book which I learned from the posts here na acceptable na yun. Ang concern ko lang kase is kung hindi lahat ng vaccine completed. Like sa website ng National Immunisation Program, naka-list doon lahat ng dapat na naging vaccine from birth to 4 years old ng child. Required bang ipa-catch up muna lahat ng missing vaccine vs. baby book before makapag enrol? If that's the case my other concern is baka too expensive sa GP or Health Centre magpa vaccine although yung mismong vaccine free naman, yung fee ng mag administer/nurse ang baka mahal so thinking kung dito sa Pinas ko nalang ipapabakuna mga kids. Medyo mahal din actually dahil mahal din ang mga bakuna.

For now ang main concern ko yung pag admit sa kanila sa school baka may waiting period pa until makumpleto mga bakuna.

@jcal149 .. in our case kasi di kami nagbase doon sa National Immunisation Program to check kung ano yung list ng vaccine.. nag based kami doon sa nakalist sa enrollment form ng mga anak ko...so far complete naman yung sa kanila compared doon sa baby book na dala namin.. sorry kung di ko masagot about kung may waiting period pa...

@wednesday .. actually parang ala naman talagang hininging academic requirements kami lang ang nagbigay ng school records (form 137).. mas hiningi nila yung immunisation records, birth certificate, proof of address, Visa grant letter, copy of passport.. kasi dito more on age talaga sila.. di yung kung anong tinapos mo sa Pinas..

if you're going to request na ilagay ang anak mo sa medyo mataas na section or class... pwede mo ipakita yung mga academic awards nila sa Pinas to prove yung capability nila...
