Centrelink is important for PRs with families. You can make certain claims which can help assist you while you are still jobseeking or not earning much. Habang tumataas yung income ninyo mag-asawa, your benefit decreases until you don’t get anything but child care assistance. Child care assistance is partial government subsidy on child care cost.

hi there! i don't think so. your child is the "key" to most family claims. So i guess better to register once your family joins you here. But then again, family claims lang kasi ang alam ko. i am not too sure about claims available to singles and advanced parties. Try checking the Centrelink site, ok? 🙂

Question lang, hindi po ba may 2-year waiting period of staying in AU for the PR visa holders with kids before one can claim for assistance? thanks! 🙂

Hi, not too sure about the 2-year waiting period. But Family Tax Benefit, Child Care Assitance, Rent Assistance are readily available upon arrival. These are family claims. For singles, wala pa akong naririnig na claims where a 2-year waiting time is required. 🙂

sabi nung nakilala namin na matagal na dito, dati pagkadating na pagkadating nya ng AU ay punta agad cya sa centrelink. nakahingi agad siya ng allowance every fortnight habang naghahanap ng work hehehe sana lang di nila tinanggal kaso madami siguro umabuso ng allowance na ito :p</blockquote>

Don’t worry, it won’t take you 2 years to get up to speed with Aussie living. In a matter of weeks or months, you will be able to settle in even without social security.

Yup, pag naging ok na yung work dito, usually wala nang nakukuha from Centrelink except subsidy on Child Care payments. Bale instead of paying full price sa child care, may portion na government nagbabayad..

Hehe ok thanks...bale worse comes to worst, kung hirap sa Australia, pagtiyagaan na lang yung 2 taon tapos tutulungan ka naman ng gobyerno nila?

Sa NAB kami. Ok sya, ang bilis ng processing. Nung Tuesday yung personal appearance namin sa bank tas this afternoon nakuha na agad namin by mail yung ATM namin. Wala din silang monthly fee. 🙂

Hi guys, we're off to Oz on 6th of Nov. Just wondering if 475 holders would bother registering with Centrelink? All of you are so lucky to be PRs that I don't find much info on temporary residents... thanks a lot for the answers!

@sticktoexecute hi, congrats and have a safe trip on Nov 6. 🙂 we are on 457 visa din and we arrived here in AU just nearly 2 weeks ago. hindi kami nagregister sa centrelink and medicare kasi i've heard na for PRs lang yun.
