Share some tips on IELTS

@metaform, di naman pong malaking kasayangan sa pera yung pagkuha ng IELTS ng asawa niyo...Pag nasa Australia kayo, I'm sure maghahanap din po ng trabaho ang asawa niyo at makakatulong yung IELTS kahit papaano sa job screening 🙂

Sa mga hirap po sa writing exam, take the opportunity to start a blog...like what many of the forumers are doing. Puwede ring mag tagisan ng english na lang muna sa forum hehe...at least nahahasa ang writing capability 🙂

Hi Folks! Question lang. Any tips you can share with regards to speaking? Is it better to speak slowly? When I watch Youtube videos ng IELTS sample exam, ang bagal magsalita ng interviewer. heheh and ang simple lang ng mga tanong. Kelangan medyo catchy ang answers? And do we need to use "wow" words or phrases? Do I need to avoid slang? hehehehhe

Also, for the writing test, will there be any scratch paper provided? :-) Thanks!

Can you tell if the "scores" given to the sample letters/essays may be indicative of the actual scores in an IELTS exam? Thanks.

Pogi points po ang mga 'wow' words for "Vocabulary" as long as tama ang din ang grammar and you use impressive words properly, otherwise minus points naman yun.

Just be natural and speak on your own phase, no need to be slang kung hindi keri hehe. Ok naman ang english accent ng nating mga pinoy as long as tama ang pronounciation 🙂

Wala pong extra scratch paper sa writing though you may ask for extra answer sheet kung kulang ka na sa space for the letter or essay. Hindi ko na maalala kung pwedeng magsulat or gawing scratch paper yung question booklet.

for example ung ibang assessment entity (Engrs Aust) kailangan i send sa kanila ang result from the testing center...

for WA sponsorship nmn kailangan lang i-scan mo ang results and upload sa online application mo..

ganun din sa online application sa DIAC..

@lock_code2004 - Yun nga po di ko po maintindihin eh.. Paano po ba yung State Sponsorship? Ano po ba yung madali or sure ball?

mas mabilis ang processing ng 176 (with SS), compared sa 175 (general)..

pareho lang ang bayad ng application sa DIAC,

although may dagdag fee for application sa mga SS.. (ex. 200aud for WA, free for SA, free for VIctoria)..

so if you want to try, apply ka SS... check mo ung thread ng SS.. nandun summary ng reqts, mode of application, at fee.. check mo which state can approve your nominated occupation..

after getting your ielts results, at may time ka pa.. try to apply SS..na mas mabilis ang processing sa DIAC

Thanks @mimaahk! What I meant pala with slang is slang phrases used by Americans. heheh Or better term ata is idioms like: "peaks and valleys", "beating around the bush", "bang for the buck" etc :-)

So if di ko tlga kabisado or bigla ako kinabahan, might as well simple phrases and words na lang gamitin ko. hihi

Ey by the way, ang tataas ng scores mo! Ang pinaka-fear ko tlga ay Writing, hindi kase tlga ako magaling magsulat. huhuhu Daming pdeng iimprove sa mga sentences ko, napapansin ko lang pag im comparing my answers sa model answers. Although the main ideas, intro and conclusion are there, daming areas for improvement sa sentence construction ko. waaaaahhh

@stolich18 oh ic you're referring to idiomes pala - american slang, british slang etc... yeap pogi points din gumamit ng idioms & collocations specially kung lagi mo namang ginagamit why not diba 🙂

Okay din na magkaron ng variation sa paggamit ng pronouns, adjectives, nouns to show na malawak din yung kaalaman sa synonyms.

Medyo Kulang:

Check mo sa BC website, dati kasi nag-avail ako ng free speaking assessment nila if u take IELTS with them (sana me ganto pa din silang offer) and ieexplain nila sayo kung pano ige-grade ang speaking, kung anong hinahanap nila overall (may apat na factors yun e, i forgot sorry, naalala ko lang vocabulary range hehe)

hi itchan! tnx din sa mga payo. that is why i was asking if may scratch paper kase gusto ko muna aulat essay ko sa scratch tapos ayusin ko paglipat sa answer sheet. hehehe sa speaking di naman ako msyado kinakabahan pero tnx pa rin sa insights :-)

May grade ang vocabulary sa speaking at writing exam pero ang tanong...angkop ba ang paggamit mo ng salitang iyon sa sinasabi mo?

For all we know, "nose-bleed words" nga gamit niyo but they don't convey much of a message in general. hehe

eto po ang alam kong basehan ng grade sa speaking/writing;

a) pronunciation (speaking), spelling (writing) - tamang bigkas at pagbaybay

b) grammar - balarila

c) vocabulary - salita

d) idea coherence - pagkakaugnay-ugnay ng nilalaman

Thanks everyone for the advices. YUng friend kase namin na nagIELTS sabi wag daw akong kabahan. Conversational english lang daw naman kase. Pero kase 9.XX ang Overall band nya sa IELTS eh. Genius tlga yun. Well in fact he's a diplomat. Eh struggle ko pa naman ang English ever since HS. hehhehe
