Is it hard to find jobs in Australia? Specially for new immigrant?

Good day to all!

I hope everybody is doing well!

1st post ko dito after lurking for almost a month. OK, I'll ask you all straight to the point.

Mahirap ba mag hanap ng trabaho sa Australia? Specifically in IT field?

e.g Programmer/System Analyst/Developer Programmer and etc.

a short background to my self: I'm 28 with 7-8 years IT experience working "abroad" (<- this abroad place is not for long term, that is why Im planning to migrate to Australia. ), I'm married with no child yet.

You may check out http://ninemsn.seek.com.au for any job vacancies. What several people do is they apply for 175 visa from where they are right now and once it's approved, they use that site to look for jobs and schedule interviews....That way pag nasa Australia ka na, may sure job ka na 🙂

For ACS Assessment:-

• I have a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Computer Science (4 years).

• I have Microsoft Certifications. Two are latest.

• I have around 8 years experience in core .Net Development field.

However none of my experience letters fulfill all criteria as specified by ACS. Here are details:-

• Start & Finish Dates of Employment - This criteria is fulfilled.

• Description of Duties Performed - Missing. They contain the role or title only.

• Hours worked - Full time or Part time - Do not mention explicitly.

• Country of Employment - Do not mention explicitly but is evident from letterhead.

• Company Letterhead and signed by the author - This criteria is fulfilled.

So did you faced such issue and if yes what was the impact. Did you ask your previous organisation to give letters in format prescribed as sample by ACS.

I am not aware of the requirements of ACS but from what I can see, your dilemma is mainly on the employment certificate wherein (1) hours worked was not specified and (2) duties were not placed in details.

Try asking HR from your firm to give you a certificate of employment that is in accordance to the requirements - hope this will not be too much to ask them though!

Just to add....minsan hindi lang yung skills mo yung sukatan ng success rate sa employment...Always have a plan in hand (and a Plan B)...para pag may palya meron ka pa ring ibang options 🙂

Put it this way, mas lesser chance ka to be approved a visa if you migrate at age more than 40 as you will be claiming lesser points for age as compared perhaps to a 30 yr old lady... 🙂

@rajattiwari you can create a version which ACS requires and ask your HR to have it instead of their template for COE's (this is what I did on my case). Otherwise, you create a statutory declaration and have it signed by a senior colleague, supervisor, etc. Check ACS guidelines for more info.

@pnoy_ano if you are applying for an independent visa...pahirapan yan... pero kung may mahanap kayong employer na magssponsor sa inyo, puwede kayo mabigyan ng visa na ganun hanggang sa edad na 50

definitely yes. mas madami experience mas better at mas madali makahanap work. dito nga sa work ko may mga senior citizen pa nagwowork e (no joke).

@pnoy_ano Actually the very reason why the Australian government prefers 'younger' migrants in their country is that the younger you are, the more years you have paying taxes. Sa Australia kasi 55 palang retirement na iniisip nila e...

So to answer your question, absolutely, may employer diyan na willing magsponsor sa inyo considering your work experience...Kelangan lang maghanap nang mabuti hehe

Hi guys, I was granted a Skilled Migrant Visa subclass 175 (Engineering Technologist) just last week. It only took a little over 3 months processing from lodge to grant, I was so ecstatic when I got the news. Now, I started to shift my focus to job prospecting through the internet and most of the experiences I've read so far are so disheartening. I have never been unemployed since graduating from college. And the concept of job-hunting for an average of 3 months scares me. I was hired by an IT Company in Cebu 1 month before graduations, currently I've been outsourced in Japan for almost 6 years now and my work experience and expertise are in the field of Wireless Technologies and Antenna Design. I like my work in JP but since I am just a contract worker I started eyeing Aussie for the long term, plus my Tita who has lived there for almost 20 years now urged me enthusiastically. I was really motivated and hopeful when I was applying for Visa, now that I have it and have read some people's experiences like how Aussie employers care so much about "local experience", I'm having second thoughts. How hard is it really to find a job in your field in Aussie? Do any of you guys have regrets?

@philAus2012 Since you have your Tita who lives in Aus wala ka dapat ikatakot dahil kahit papaano may masasandalan ka. Yun ngang iba na walang kamag-anak dito (like me) naka survive ano kinatatakot mo? If you wouldn't try, nothing will happen to you. Lakasan lang ng loob yan.
