175 or 176?

Hi everyone!

Ano bang better in terms of processing time and visa approval guarantee? 175 or 176? In my case, hinahabol ko kase makpaglodge before July 2012. And right now, kakapasa ko pa lang ng requirements sa ACS and nagrreview pa lang ako sa IELTS. Extra step ba ung State Sponsorship? ano pala ang link ng requirements ng NSW State Sponsorship? thanks! :-)

@stolich18 - higher processing priority ang 176 kesa sa 175.. and applying for SS is an extra step. This should be done after getting your positive assessment and your ielts results..

your concerns now would be;

1) points - do you need the additional points for SS

2) time - will time allow you to apply for SS given the due date of July 2012

Hi lock_code2004! Thanks for replying. I have drafted the timelines with regards to these 2 options (provided I have positive ACS and IELTS results).. If by end of May I don't have the SS letter yet, I will lodge my application for the 175 visa.

Right now I'm still waiting for my ACS certification. I'll be taking the IELTS exam on March 31. I'm praying hard for favorable results, especially with IELTS so I can already focus with submitting the requirements to NSW for State Sponsorship, and of course DIAC.

@stolich18 - yan den ang plano ko... I have already submitted my docs to ACS. March 10 naman ang IELTS ko.. If ok naman ang ielts at acs ko, magtry ako apply sponsorship sa WA. if by 2nd week of May wala pa results, pass na ako ng 175. 🙂

hi KTP! Wow we're on the same boat! ;-) Good luck on your March 10th exam. I have only started reviewing last week, which is why I chose March 31st. Also, I was busy with work and ACS requirements in the past 2 weeks. Have I known Skill Select earlier, I would have started preparing the requirements last year. howell. :-)

By the way, I just saw an e-mail from ACS! I didn't expect it since Fedex told me that the expected date of arrival of the documents is tomorrow... My application is now in Stage 4.

@unanimous21 whooaaah that's great. Will try to consider that, especially with my current company willing to transfer me to their office in WA once I have the visa already. Thing is my husband and I prefer NSW... ;-) Thanks anyway! I appreciate getting that new information from you. 😃

for the first 2 years, 175 is far better than 176 as you have no moral obligation to your sponsoring state and you can move from one state to another.

Processing of visa 175 is faster these days especially that July 2012 is near approaching.

Hi @tootzkie! I told my husband about your comment, and sabi nya, mag-175 na nga lang din daw kami for the following reasons:

Wag daw namin masyado i-rush since magiipon pa kami pamasahe. hahaha
Enjoy daw muna namin current work namin dito. Sayang yung mga bonuses and benefits etc. hehehhe
As you've said, better if mas flexible. Tska di rin daw naman kami tlga nagmamadali...

Kaya malamang 175 na ang ipapasa ko, un nga lang additional points kase pag may SS. Yung self-assessment ko kase, saktong 65 or 70 points lang ata ako sa points system. 70 points kapag counted yung sa professional year (eto ba ung working on the nominated occupation within the last 2 years ba un? hehe)

Ang galing mo naman! ang bilis na-grant ng visa mo! :-) After 1.5 months, may Case officer ka na agad! Naghanap ka ba ng work before you went there? Or jan ka na lang naghanap? thanks!

@KTP: Sana sa open pa ang WA hanggang May or until June..Panay ang dasal ko.. Yan na lang ang pag asa ko.. Ayoko naman mag isip d maka 7 lahat sa IELTS eh pero syempre Plan B ang 475.. Naku baka by mid April may results na ang ACS na yan.. Buti pa nga WA 6 ang asking IELTS score pwede na..God Bless 🙂

@stolich18 - ako den nasa stage 4 na ng assessment ko. it says 'with assessor'.. ung officemate ko naman who submitted his ACS a week before me, his status now is still in stage though the text says 'In Progress'.

I'm really praying na pumasa kame ni hubby sa ielts.. He'll have his skills assessed by ACS too, para mei dagdag na 5 points for partner skills 🙂

Actually, my husband and I were in a dilemma over whether to apply for 175 or 176, but then we decided na lang na to try and apply for WA SS and if by 2nd week of May wala pang result, apply na lang kame 175. Good Luck saten 🙂

@cinnamon20- oo nga at sana mabilis lang ang pagprocess nila. Exam na namen ni hubby sa March 10... I need prayers hahahaha sana talaga makapasa kame...

Base sa kasalukuyang processing times, nasa June 13 na ang tinitingnan ng DIAC para sa mga visa 175.

June 13 rin ang mga nasa visa 176 pero kung classified under Priority 3 kayo, within 4 weeks lodgement, processed na ang visa.

So depende rin sa State na aapplyan niyo ang bilis...kung mas kailangan ng tao ng state na iyon, 4 weeks lang ang itatagal ng visa 176...pero kung populated o maraming applicants ang nasabing state...may lead time na 8 - 9 months 🙂

agree... pwede ka rin magdrowing sa papel ng timeline mo to properly and realistically assess kung kaya pa ba ng oras ang 176 (due to the extra step) - madaming forums ang nagkalat sa net about processing times ng various steps sa australian visa application, you can leverage that para lang may idea... but then again circumstances change and pwedeng may maurong sa mga estimated mo na timeline so cross the bridge when you finish ACS and IELTS...

For me advantage and disadvantage ng 176 are as follows (disadvantage nito is in contrast to 175, so advantage ng 175 naman yun)

advantage:

higher priority / quicker processing time
additional 5 pts para sa sponsorship (kung kulang ka ng pts sa 175

disadvantage

kelangan mo magstay sa sponsoring state (may discussion around going around this restriction akong nakita sa forum na to couple of days back)... but then again, ang importante lang e, makapasok ka sa au, tiis tiis na lang muna sa first few years if ever
additional step which could take significant amount of time to cmplete

Ang sabi ni @JClem before moral obligation lang naman yun mag-stay ka sa sponsoring state. Not really mandatory. Pero as for me sa NSW talaga ang gusto ko so no problem with that.

I suggest kuha na po kayo asap ng IELTS. Ako nga po nataranta eh, kasi nga hindi natin alam if mapapasa agad natin yun the 1st take. If you will notice the exam schedules, and if General test ang take mo, twice a month lang siya. Tapos 13 days makukuha result.. if remark, 10 weeks.. do the math. If hindi mo makuha ng 1st or 2nd take magagahol sa oras.

Although I understand your side, ako din naman hinintay ko muna yun ACS results ko para sure na meron patutunguhan yun gastos at pagod ko. Kasi aanhin mo nga naman yun IELTS if hindi ka naman successful sa ACS right? Hehe. Then again, it's your call to make.

Hi all,if you're under 176 visa then it happens na nakahanap ka ng work sa ibang state na wala dun yung nominated SOL mo,would it be legal to work?Thanks
