@kremits
Hi kremits and everyone,
I emailed the SA government to get a straight answer if I can stay in a different state for my 1st 6 mos, but relocate in Adelaide to fulfill my obligation as a SS after 6 mos. Told them yung company ko dito ay may office Sydney and they are willing to absorb me for 6 mos to help me gain local experience para madaling nang makahanap ng work sa Adelaide. Not sure if this applies to all states, but here's their response:
Dear Jamee
As a South Australian state nominated visa holder, you are expected to live in South Australia for two years from date of arrival and cannot initially live and work in Sydney for the first 6 months after arrival in Australia.
You signed a declaration in the course of your nomination application committing to migrating to and living in South Australia for at least two years. State Government Nomination is provided to meet skills needs in our State and the expectation is that successful applicants will bring their skills to South Australia. It is on this basis that Nomination approval is granted thereby facilitating visa grant by the Commonwealth Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). Without this nomination you would not have been granted a visa.
In terms of finding suitable work, the first step is for you to utilise the services on offer in South Australia to assist you in finding employment. Details are listed below.
I recommend that you contact Skilled Migrant Services (Skills for All Infocentre) on 1800 506 266. Skilled Migrant Services is a free service offered to migrants which provides advice and assistance in regards to finding employment. They offer workshops on job seeking and individual consultations to migrants who are having difficulty finding work. They can also provide you with information on courses available. You can phone them or go in person to register at their office โ see details below...
TAFESA also offer the Interlink program which is a five week course to assist skilled migrants with job seeking. For some occupations, there is also the option of a work placement. The Interlink program is free, however, if you are eligible for the work placement, there is a fee for the placement. You can contact TAFESA Adelaide to enquire about the application process for the Interlink program โ details below...
