Current 489 visa requires you to stay in Regional Area for 2 years & work 1 year before it makes you eligible for Permanent residency under 887 visas.

New 491 Visa would require you to stay in Regional Australia for 3 years before you can apply for 191 visas.

For your future PR application you will be required to meet the below conditions

Hold regional provisional visa for 3 years before making

PR application

Have earned a minimum income for at least three years as holder of the regional provisional visa
Have earned a minimum income for at least three years as the holder of the regional provisional visa

Need at least Proficient for the English. Maybe try to take exam again para magkapoints ka for English.

When will I be invited to apply for a 491 visa?

There is a ranking systems for an invitation to apply for a 491 visa. The rankings are:

Equal first: Applicant with a skilled partner OR applicants without a partner
Second: Applicant with A partner who can demonstrate Competent English (but does not have the skills for skilled partner points)
Third: Applicant with a partner who is ineligible for either competent English or Skilled partner points.

Can 491 visa holders lodge other visas?

491 visa holders cannot lodge certain visas until they have held a 491 visa (and met its conditions) for three years. This includes skilled PR visas (189 and 190), business visas (124, 132 and 188), employer nominated PR visa 186 and the onshore partner visa (820). This requirement to reside and work in a designated regional area is underpinned by the need to support economic development and population growth in regional areas.

How does the 491 visa lead to permanent residency?

The 491 is a five-year visa. You can access permanent residence through the Subclass 191 (Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional)) visa when the following is met:

You have lived, worked or studied in the designated regional area for at least three years, whilst holding a 491 visa, and
You can show earnings of at least $53,900 for three years. If you have a partner, only one of you needs to show this salary level (through tax returns) and this person would be the main applicant for the 191 visa

Pag kaya naconvert na into 191 PR Visa yung 491 after 3 years and successfully meeting the requirements, pwede na kayang lumipat sa big cities o need na sa regional pa din kahit PR na?

be patience guys.. cheer ln gpo...pwedi rin kau mag positive feedback kay BSMQ mag repsonse nmn sila nian meron kasi mga case na overlap ng ibang applications lalo na sa mga priority professions. Try to send them emails in a positive ways. Tips ko lng po yan.. yun din kasi ginawa ko nun..

try to send an email guys, i did that 3x. and for me malaking factor yun bakit kme nktnggp ng invite. i did asked some questions s officer and they responded same day and the day after.

i even called, and maayos pong kausap ang bsmq officers.

eto po ung mga nttandaan kong questions ko.

after ko mgsubmit ng EOI
ang sb ko ngsubmit ako pero hnd ko dineclare ung work experience n hnd pinuntosan ni vetassess. magbbago ba kako ung DOE ko. sumagot sila na hanggang hindi nmn mgbabago ung points mo s iuupdate mo same DOE prin.
nung maginitial invite sila
ngtanong ako kung kelangan pbng ipakita sa show money ung computation ng nabayaran nnmin s condo, plus ung market value ng kotse. sumagot sila n ung total amount lng ng property plus cash fund pr s bank statement.
after nmin masubmit ung proof of funds etc.
ngtnong ako kung ung 2-3 weeks b n assessment ng sinubmit nmin magsstart nung before magchristmas break o after n ng xmas break kc inabutan kme ng break sbko lagpas 1 month n ung sinubmit nmin. the next day lumabas ung invitation to lodge nmin ng visa.

sa ACT ntry kong tumawag dati kc nngpasa rn kme ng EOI medyo masungit ung officer dun unlike s BSMQ. dagdagan nyo lng po ng

“have a nice day”, sinamahan ko pa ng “merry christmas happy new year, enjoy your christmas, and new year’s break” then after nmin mainvite to lodge ngemail pko to say thank you.
