Hello Kabayans! I just wanted to share how proud I am sa husband ko and also his preparation. He took the PTE exam with less than a week of preparation and ito ang result. 🥰 He only needs 30 but masyado ginalingan, napressure yata.🤣 (I took the PTE exam and got 90 in all bands on December 2022. I also shared most of the tips sa another thread before.)
Here po ang situation as well ang preparation niya hopefully makahelp din sa mga magtatake ng PTE exam:
• He needed to take the PTE exam to prove that he has functional English since ilolodge namen sya as my dependent for visa 491.
• First, nagtake muna sya ng mock exam. So pinagtake ko muna sya ng mock exam without any significant idea about PTE para magauge niya yung structure, difficulty ng exam and yung capability niya at the same time. Since aware siya na majority ng perception about PTE is that easier sya than IELTS, he initially thought that it was really easy, not until he took the mock exam. Sabe nga niya nung narealize niya na yung hirap ng exam, he soon understood ano ang dapat niyang iprioritize na tasks or modules sya nahihirapan.
• He had one-on-one PTE coaching with yours truly 🤣❤️ for a few days where I taught him all the helpful tips, tricks and templates he can use to ace the exam. (Note: All of these po ay incorporated rin sa ginawa kong PTE training for our company under the FSW English division so if you are interested, please send us a message.)
• He did the mock exam again a day before the exam.
• Here are some tips from me and from my husband:
SPEAKING- pitch is so important!
Download kayo ng any Voice Analyzer App, may ready n script a babasahin ninyo then iaanalyize niya yung pitch mo
Ito po ang ideal pitch for male and females.
MALE - 160 - 180 hz
FEMALE - 200 - 230 hz
READ ALOUD - Very important! Fluency is more important than grammar/content. Skip difficult words.
Never ever correct yourself. Hihi.
NO to intonation! Remember, computer program po ang magbabasa ng answers mo so any deviation (intonation) from the normal flow, makaka affect sa scores mo.
REPEAT SENTENCE - As soon as tapos na yung audio, tingin agad sa screen, ito lang kasi ang tasks sa Speaking na walang microphone beep. So make sure na open na ang microphone bago ka magsalita, otherwise hindi marerecord ang sagot mo. Repeat as much as you can, don't hesitate. Practice ka maigi dito, exhaust mo lahat ng questions sa practice website kasi this is one of the most challenging tasks and it contributes sa Listening scores mo.
Describe Image and Retell Lecture - Check out videos of Anusha from Milestone Study in YT. Yun lang din ginamit namin.
Answer Short Question - kapag di mo alam you say, 'I don't know'. Don't skip the question.
WRITING
Sny template will do as long as naiintindihan ninyo and ensure na memorized ninyo bago kayo mag-exam. This will save you so much time. Remember, computer ang mag chcheck niyan, all you need to do is steer clear of committing spelling, capitalization and grammatical mistakes. So dapat yung pinaka simple na form ng sentence and choices of words ang safe na gamitin mo. Okay lang din redundant, paraphrasing is not needed. Iba ang PTE essay writing sa IELTS.
READING - Ang most important tasks ay Reorder Paragraph and Fill in Blanks (Drag/Drop and Dropdown). MC questions, just select one and click next kapag di mo alam. Don't spend more than 1 min sa MC questions.
LISTENING - ang 2 most important tasks ay ang WRITE FROM DICTATION and SUMMARIZE SPOKEN TEXT so ito ang lagi mong ipractice, the rest i less prioritize mo.
WRITE FROM DICTATION - check Moni from PTE Magic tips sa YT.
Ang mahal ng PTE exam so when you do it once, do it right! Fix our mindset, dapat pag may exam ang lagi natin isipin, kelangan yung pinakamataas yung makuha ko, so that whether mareach mo or hindi yung pinakamataas, pasado ka 🙂 Hindi kelangan ng native english accent sa PTE so wag ka mabother if nabobother ka about don. Just prepare and do your best, you are facing and talking to a computer after all so don't be afraid about getting judged.
May mga additional tips pa po na incorporated rin sa ginawa kong PTE training for our company under the FSW English division so if you are interested, please send us a message.
