@ceasarkho sayang. try mo practice at least 1 essay a day. I did that during my last test. pagdating sa actual test natural na nag foflow ang mga ideas at di ka cram.

@ceasarkho well it works sa akin, I got 80 in my writing sa last take ko. 1 week before the test nag 1 essay a day ako kaya may pito akong essay before the test. 🙂

Hello po gusto ko lang po magshare ng experience ko sa PTE exam as a first taker at crammer (less than 2 weeks preparation lang kasi :!! ) In case po me same scenario tulad sakin (sabi rin ng ate ko...pang motivate ng kaunti sa ibang gahol na sa oras)

Tanong: kakayanin kayang pumasa given the above scenario?

Based on my experience po.... Yes! 😃

I was an IELTS examinee, one month or more than a month preparation ang ginawa ko. Pumasa naman ako kaya lang di umabot score ko to gain some points.

IELTS result:

R - 8.5

L - 7.5

S - 6.5

W - 6.5

So I decided to take ng PTE, but I only have less than 2 weeks to prepare at I was shocked na napaka wide ng range ng exam, andaming ipapractice compare sa IELTS.

But God is good.. pumasa ako at I gained 10 points, di man superior pero I can say that this is an achievement.

So, I will share some tips, hopefully po makatulong.

Don't be so confident about your smartness.

Meaning wag kang umasa sa pansarili mong katalinuhan. Kahit anong galing mo sa English kung di ka humingi ng payo or di ka nagcheck ng mga previous experiences ng mga PTE takers, medyo malolost ka sa actual. This forum is really a good source. Ang ate ko nagsabi nito sakin. So, pag me time ako lagi ako nagbabasa kahit yung mga latest posts lang, silent reader lang ako kasi di ako masyado familiar sa set-up ng PTE, tyaka shy ako magtanong.. hehehe. Some tips I got and useful:

A. some questions are repetitive... Very TRUE!

B. Practice sa isang place na medyo maingay... hindi pala medyo.. maingay talaga.. hahaha..

C. Be early as much as possible.. pag andun ka na kahit di mo pa time pwede ka nang isalang..So, kung maaga ka me tendency na ikaw pa lang ang nag speaking test or kaunti pa lang kayo di ka masyado distracted.

D. Wag mong galawin o hawakan ng hawakan ang mic pag nagstart ka na me tendency na magcreate ng additional sound habang recording status ka.

Familiarize yourself sa PTE exam format.

This one I must say is a must. Walang magnonotify sayo kung anong klaseng test ang susunod at dapat magbabasa in instructions. Pag familiar ka alam mo kung kailan dapat nakikinig ka or nagbabasa ka lang at kung hawak mo ang pen or ang mouse.

Always do the time and remaining items check. Sa upper part ng screen nakaflash naman so habang sumasagot ka at the same nagdidivide ka rin ng remaining time mo sa remaining items. Sa SRL part.. 2mins per item medyo safe ka na. Nakita ko discussion na usually kulang ang oras sa reading, so sobra akong nakabantay sa oras sa part na ito. Natapos ko naman sya at me 5min pa kong natira.
Sa mga tulad ko, wag papadaig sa takot pag nakita kung gaano ka wide ang scope ng PTE format.

I cannot say kung magwowork ito sa iba pero sa tingin ko worth it na itry: it's ok na manood at makinig ng mga samples of exams pero "avoid information overload". Hayaan mo lang na dumaan sa tenga at utak mo yung mga samples. Wag masyadong mag-overkill sa reviewers, kung me atleast a month ka pa pwede, pero try not to confuse yourself sa dami ng materials, mas magandang iassess mo ang sarili mo kung paano mo mas matatandaan at maiintindihan. Pag nakuha mo na magstick ka lang sa available materials na meron ka. Those kits na me mock exam are really good but if you cannot have them I believe you can still manage to ace the exam.

Isapuso mo lang yung nirereview mo at yung style.. you can do it! I didn't buy any kit hindi dahil sa ayoko.. nagkacram na kasi ako so hindi ko alam kung san ko sya isisingit.. hehehe..

USE TEMPLATE sa speaking, listening at kahit sa written. Capitalized kasi feeling ko eto tumulong sakin ng malaki. Super thank you ako sa template nina @Heprex at @batman pati na rin sa ate ko @ram071312 na nagprint ng tips ni @Heprex para maging guide ko.

Combined ginawa ko kasi mas nakabisado ko nung ganun. Since wala ng oras na magreview kahit youtube samples.. ang ginawa ko kahit ano makita kong me picture o kaya sa office pag me graph ang presentation kahit sa utak lang nagdedescribe image ako, tapos tinitignan ko yung relo ko para me timer.

Recommended talaga ang template.. isasalba ka Promise!

So guys, after taking the test, ito mga points ko, hopefully in addition or confirmation sa mga existing tips dito. Sorry mataas na naman, gusto ko lang makatulong.

Speaking

In general, if you think you have a good english accent na parang OA with rise and fall na talaga, at hindi naman ganon ka bilis or bagal, ok na yan. In terms of content, I can tell you maliit lang ang impact nyan. I could only count 1 sa Repeat Sentence na tama lahat words na banggit ko, lahat yata mali or partial, pero ginawa ko, I substitute words na parang sa original, basta aim ko, I still sound fluent and maiintidihan pa din. If you look at the scoring ng Repeat Sentence, Max scores are Content=3, Pronunciation=5, Oral Fluency =5. So kung galingan mo lang sa P at OF, lamang ka na sa score. So again, this is speaking test, so content-wise, ok na ok ang mga template, they all worked, basta you sound fluent.

And if naman you think hindi ka ganun ka galing sa english accent, dito na papasok yung suggestion na bilisan ang pag salita, dahil Speed=OF, so sa OF papalo ang score dito. This worked a lot sa mga kasama natin, as suggested ng mga Masters din to.

Read aloud:

Same sa general comments sa taas, If fluent ka, cool and confident speaking lang, pauses and rise and fall intonation, if hindi naman ganun ka fluent sa palagay mo, try speaking faster, like finish the recording at least somewhere sa half of the full 40 sec. counter Speed=OF

Repeat sentence:

Practice, practice, practice. Pag nagdadrive ako, ito sounds ko instead of music.
Don't mind missing words, basta you still say it fluently as much as possible with intonation pa rin. Matatawa ka if marinig mo mga iba't-ibang mga sinasabi mo na malayo na sa right sentence pero ganda parin pakinggan. 🙂
Remember to speak while recording na, and click Next if tapos na, you don't have to wait full 40 sec.

What is interesting is that my question is not agree-disagree and was something like (example only), "There are many great Social Networking platforms for the last 2 decades, such as ...., What do you think is the greatest, and why?

Eh agree-disagree lang namang template ang pinag-aralan ko ng mabuti, So what I did, ang Agree=Facebook, disagree=Friendster, MySpace,Multiply.. etc, so my argument is why FB is the greatest. So Body 1=Why FB is the greatest, Body 2=Why other people would say the others are the greatest, then Conclusion.. I really thought I would have low score sa writing, but hindi naman. Just make sure to paraphrase and use academic words para ma angat score.

Reading

Dito, sa Mock test ko pa lang, mababa talaga, so I really practiced hard.

Multiple choice, choose single answer and choose multiple answers

The read question then skim the paragraph for keywords technique did not work for me, lalo ako ma delay kase minsan synonyms ginagamit, so kailangan ko talaga basahin ang text before answering.

Re-order Paragraphs

Listening

Summarize spoken text

You can write the notes within the text field sa mismong test item, no need sa whiteboard provided, kase mas mabilis sa aking ang type kaysa sulat.

1.Identify topic

2.Note at least 2-3 supporting idea sa topic

3.Then summarize in more than 1 sentence

For me, hindi ito same with Re-tell lecture na pwede template, I think more on the content ang scoring and nakukuha mo ba ang topic and related ideas.
No conclusion ang mga ginagawa ko dito.

Multiple choice, choose multiple answers, Highlight correct summary, Multiple choice, choose single answer

Same sa reading, the read question then skim the paragraph for keywords technique did not work for me, kailangan ko maintindihan ang context para madali nalang saguting, focus lang sa understanding.

Fill in the blanks

Listen carefully, then type ano ang missing but don't mind the spelling yet kase baka ma abutan ka sa next blank, di mo na mapakinggan. Press tab to shift focus sa cursor on the next blank, para madali na unlike using mouse. After sa recording, then revisit the answer for correct spelling.

Select missing word

It helps to listen what the topic is all about then look closely sa bar, if malapit na sa end, listen carefully ano ang last few words para ma match mo sa selection.

Highlight incorrect words

Your mouse is your bestfriend dito.. follow lang kung saan ang words na nakaplay then hit the mouse the moment hindi na correct work. Practice lang.

Write from dictation

This is really interesting because, unlike sa Repeat Sentence, parang mas makaka remember ka sa binaggit na sentence, so I think focus and concentration lang dito..

General observations during exam:

If you are used to a laptop for practice, lipat na nang desktop keyboard, hindi kase maganda keyboard na gagamitin, ma dedelay ka sa pag type
If you are used to hearing your voice sa headphone while speaking, hindi ganito sa actual, hindi mo masyado maririnig boses mo, akala ko nga hindi na record eh.
The sequence per module is not fixed. Like for Reading, the usual sequence I thought was fixed is, Multiple-Single Answer, then Multiple-Multiple Answer, then Re-order Paragraph, then Fill in the blanks..etc.. Eh sa actual na una ang Fill-in the blanks, then Multiple-Multiple Answer, akala ko na miss ko ang Re-order Paragraph.
The whiteboard marker we used were fine-tip na, hindi yung pang malaking whiteboard marker na rounded
The erasable notepad is multiple sheets kung baga in which you don't need to erase after each question, so don't worry.
Yes, maginaw sa loob, akala ko kaya ko, at least naka longsleeves ako pero maginaw pa rin.
Be there early, if ang batch mo ay completo na (I think 15 per batch), you can start earlier than scheduled.
Strict sa bulsa and all other things you have in your clothes or body, like panyo, ring, earrings, scapulars, rosary, small pocket contents, kahit ano, di pwede pero, may locker naman. Kahit sa entry sa door mismo, the guard will already ask you to keep all things inside the bag na, then repeat procedure before entering the test area, so you might as well not bring non-essential stuffs, passport lang pinaka importante.
You are not allowed or is discouraged to talk while inside the center, not even before taking the exam.
Unlike sa Mock Test or other electronic practice tests, sa actual may confirmation everytime you click Next para di mo ma skip ang mga questions

Practice and resources:

For practice, ang dami sa Youtube, kahit anong module meron, wala lang scoring, pero if you want to master the templates, maganda sa youtube kase iba-iba ang application mo sa templates.
Mock test helped me build my confidence and at least I know where I need to focus more. After getting a good mark sa 1st Mock, I planned to sell Mock B, pero gusto ko maka siguro so ginamit ko, at least na check ko na nagimprove ako.
Ito yata ang pinaka maraming resource online na nakuha ko, although magulo ang content pero explore nyo nalang. I didn't get all the info here, pero may makukuha ka for sure:

@ceasarkho Yes, maganda yang 1 essay a day and try to check e2 language kung pano nila gawin yung essay nila. They have great tips. Libre lang sya sa youtube.

Hi @Supersaiyan .Mejo out of topic. I noticed nag lodge ka na ng EOI @ 55 pts for visa 190? 50 points for your score at 5 points sa state nomination. Ang pagkainitindi ko kasi dapat at least 55 pts (excluding state nomination) ka bago makapag lodge ng EOI. Tama ba? Please enlighten me. thanks!

@cailynragsdepot you must have at least 60 points overall to be able to lodge an application so that means 55 points is the lowest you can have to be able to apply for visa 190 55+5. So, basically tama yung sinabi mo na 55 points excluding the state nomination.

yup tama po kayo dapat 60 points in total, haha, pero I realized sa dulo na hndi vinalidate nung system nung nagclick ako ng submit, kahit below 60 points score ko nagsubmit, so bale niready /sinubmit ko na lang yun assuming na maka superior ako sa PTE which is hanggang sa ngayon di ko pa nkukuha para iupdate ko na lang sya later iniisip ko ksi kpag nkakuha na ko ng superior mark sa PTE mas bababa yung waiting time ko for ITA since magiging 65 Overall ako sa 190 at maaga yung lodge date ko. Tama kaya yun o upon date ng inupdate mo EOI score ng above 60 yun yung titignan ng system to issue an invite? Mejo confused ako this time ksi may nabasa ako na maghihintay ng almost 3-6 months for 65 pointers depende sa lodge date kaya sinubmit ko lng ng maaga assuming na makadiskarte sa waiting time. hehe.

@Supersaiyan depende kasi yan kung pro-rata ka ba or non-pro rata tska ang isa pa is once na inupdate mo yung EOI mo and tumaas ang score mo magbabago yung tinatawag na date of effect and usually dun nag babase ang DIBP ng pag invite.
