Hello po. may mga kakilala po ako sa sydney, sa ashfield sila nakatira. medyo malapit din sa cbd by train. good luck po sa big move niyo!

Nag compute kami, mas makakamura parin talaga kapag mas mura ang rent 🙂 pwede kasi tipirin ang fare sa train kung off peak ka sasakay base sa nabasa ko sa opal haha.

So far, we are looking to share an apartment in Parramatta CBD. I know that it is around 20km to/from Sydney CBD but it will save us a lot.

@retake any tips for us moving to Sydney? 😉

Maroubra is ok... There's a beach nearby. Dati may sikat na gang sa Maroubra na based... they call themselves Bra Boys... and medyo notorious suburb ito dahil sa kanila... But they cleaned it up... maayos na sya... If you need to be near UNSW malapit lang ang Maroubra dun.

Depende talaga sa tao kung mas gusto nya to live closer to the city... I would personally prefer to be closer to the city kahit na hindi na ako masyadong nagpupunta ng city.hehehe Important lang sa akin yung convenient and yung safety ng neighbourhoood... kasi minsan late na ako nakakauwi... Also, may mga tao na gusto nila yung vibe ng area... madaming restaurants, cafes, parks etc...

Pero may mga kilala ako mga nakatira sa west.. matatagal na dito... di na sila nagpupuntang city talaga... and they prefer to live out west.

Kung single ka, and mag start ka on your own.... siguro maganda din na you live closer to the city.. so you can get around and get to know the city muna... and then pag medyo matagal tagal ka na dito and naka adjust ka na... pwede ng lumipat sa mga outer suburbs... mas madali lang din kasi "maaliw" ng konti pag pumupuntang city.. nakakalungkot kasi pag dun ka lang sa suburb.

Also, being near a train station is quite convenient... kasi ang mga bus.. umiikot sa mga suburbs.. so it actually takes you quite a while to get to your destination. Except if you're planning to drive and convert your license... which makes this a non-issue...

But remember... pag gigimik.. you need to take public transport kasi iinom ka... hehehe

Also, with work.. syempre mas madaming work sa city.. but having said that, 7 years na ako sa sydney never pa akong nagwork sa city. I guess yung work mo.. depende din kung saan ka nakaregister na agent.. The agent looks after certain areas kasi... so ang work ko.. panay chatswood/ north sydney/ macquarie park dahil yung agent ko na masigasig ako hanapan ng work.. nasa north sydney dati.

May idea po kayo how much ang rent sa North Sydney? Will start working on Feb1. Wala ring relatives. Baka may kilala kayong nagpaparent ng room around the area. 😃

Lol ngayon lang ako napadaan. Tama huwag sa suburbs na mdaming lebanese, ayaw ko mg discriminate pero iwas gulo lang. Maeksena yung visit in my aunt's place at auburn, pinuntahan ng pulis yung kapitbahay, ayoko na mag elaborate basta yun.

Sa may bandang Eastwood po kaya?

Madami naman korean sa Eastwood. Kung ok sa inyo ang price range, ok din naman dyan. Basta always view first before applying sa titirhan nyo. Para you get the feel anung meron around.

Depende sa situation at need ng tao, but basically mas malapit sa CBD mas mahal ang rent at hindi spacious. East Sydney mahal at matagal din ang biyahe kung mag bus kayo yun iba umaabot ng 40-50mins kaya minsan mas ok pa sa malayo layong suburbs within 40mins-1hr by train, comfortable trip at mas mura rent. Trains to The west sa gabi medyo delikado paris ng Blacktown/Emu Plains/Penrith line, mas ok pa ang Airport line to East Hills/Campbelltown. Marami trying to avoid Bankstown/Lakemba areas lalo sa gabi. North Sydney and beyond mahal din maski malayo sa train stations. Burwood/Strathfield medyo mahal din lalo na near train stations, buses parang limited schedule at ma traffic. If you opt to drive a car, parking is expensive lalo na sa Sydney minsan $20/hr prime time, street parking parati puno at ma traffic, meron mga carparking pero meron conditional entry times to avail of a day discount but still expensive compared to using trains. You have to weigh distance and mode of transport and costs and time. Best mode of transport is to use trains but live closer to stations within 10mins walk at least (1km) or a few mins drive.
