- applied medicare for me and fam- personal appearance, punta kau sa medicare local office or any closer suburb na meron medicare/centrelink services. usually kc may centrelink every suburb but not all have medicare related services.
bring- visa grant copy, original passport (its good to have bank account, address and local phone num by the time of application).we applied sa preston office, went in to queue (one or two customer service na mag entertain ng lahat ng papasok sa office and ask ano concern). told them were applying for medicare enrollment. they handed us a form to fill in (since ung visa ng spouse and baby ko under sakin) she handed me one form lang where i can fill in up to 4 dependents. once filled up balik ako sa kanya so she can enter my name sa official queue (ung mag process ng enrollment na staff). once name is called give the requirements and just answer clarification sa info na na filledup. around 10mins lng she enrolled 3 of us na sa medicare. gave us a temporary print out na may medicare membershp num and that un lang muna papakita sa clinics/hosps/chemists (chemists tawag ng pharmacists dito) while waiting for our card. the card as shown by my friend who lives here looks the same for me (primary applicant) and my dependents - may duplicate copies lang for ur dependents.
its good to obtain local number before hand- pra no need to update medicare and balik na nmn if walakapa num and all communications will be based sa provided num.
address- ung card will be mailed by post on d address u provided
bank details- will be linked to ur medicare num in case they need to transfer money to ur account relative to service requested.
- getting to know budget way to live here- my friend showed me around where are d best places to buy stuff. wag padadala sa mga accessible convenience stores or u can buy sa coles/wollies if immediate need. if u can, if ever lang in future wen u have the access to visit stores such as bargain depot , discount chemist, big w.. they sell lesser prices than normal.
bargain depot- not sure how many branches they have sa victoria but this s where we bought hangers (2au for 8 pcs, 1au for 12pcs kids hanger), storage boxes- ranges from 2-9au depending on sizes), hand wash- 75c- 2au, shampoos/body wash 2-4au..plates, utensils are cheap. for a start ok narin no need to be choosy 😃 diaper wipes 56sheets 2au 😃 j&J
chemist discount- pharmacy/personal needs store. mura ung toiletries and mas mura ung over d counter medicines etc. there are a few more indi ko matandaan ang exact name but its way cheaper than other known pharmacies.
aldi- d best pag maraming bibilhin na grocery- canned goods, coffee, tea, toothpaste,soaps..chocolates! a few example on what i bought was 48pcs nappies (diaper) 9.99 au. baby food 1.78au 1pouch, pork medium bacon 1kg 12au. hand towels.
for those who dont have families and friends around. research mode on how u can check these places (or d like) out. so far sa 3rd day namin indi na masyado mahal ang au. tomorrow market day naman kami wd friends pra mkabili dw ng eggs na 10au 30pcs hehe. sa groceries kc 7au 10pcs so time for palengke of course 😃
- since it is significant to spare an allowance sa clothing kc nag ch change weather dito u need to not fret sa gastos. maraming mga stores (na walang brand) nag b benta ng affordable clothings. aldi for one was selling winter jackets for 12 au makapal na sia. kung branded ka hmmm ur na wrong store. and this info will not help u 😃
eto palang na find out 3days pa kami dito ahehe (how much more ung 10yrs na dito). indi muna kami gumala sa city. its good to get to know d area that ull be living. take a walk san ung school (magging school ng anak nio), park, closest grocery, pharmacy, church, bargain stores, transportation timings and friends or classmates who might just be living nearby. if wala kang friends time to make friends 😃
o cia bukas ulit batchmates! maglalaba pako ahahha. mura lng nman laundry soap and downy dito f gusto nio magtipid sa kuryente wag nlng bumili ng washing machine na may dryer..mag sampay mode kau hehe.
