hello! hello! share ko lng ung inaask sakin sa PM . (fan dw kc nila ako sa stories ko sa forum) haha. eto ung recommended steps sa basic ggawin pag arrive sa AU π
SIMCARD>BANK>MEDICARE
SIMCARD- i bought optus - 2aud lng sia. u can buy it sa optus branch mismo sa cbd or sa grocery stores like woolies or coles. nakasabit lg sia dun sa stands. as per the data i bought my hubby a 30aud load (bibili ka sa cashier bigyan ka lg ng receipt wd the voucher code na lo load mo) , the 30aud load has 1.5gb data (pde i rollover ung unused data) , may 5au credit for internationall call/text and unli call or text within au. bongga na diba hehe u can chek more info for this prepaid plan here -- http://www.optus.com.au/shop/prepaid/sim-card/30-sim
meron din nmn ibang sim like telstra almost same lng package nila. i saw 3 or 4 more brands din na indi kona maalala ang name. ung optus ang catchy kc yellow π and of course recommended ng frends ko na naka base na sa au.
once u open the simpack, may instructions on how u will register ur details. login ka lng online or thru a phone app , u will register ur name, passport num and address. and other basic questions. regardless of ur phone d sim will work for standard, micro or nano sim size (one size fits all ) π
as for me na nag initial entry lng the simcard worked outside au (wla akong load) but may signal nman sia..well for me here n uae it works. it should work somewhere else other than very remote areas cguro i presume. so for those who are asking if it s mandatory to buy a load pra lng gumana no need. also wen ur in au (melbourne in my case) and roaming around cbd, marami wifi free areas..banks, stores has free wifi around. ung BUS from airport meron dn hehe..so need not invest n expensive data plans wen ur there. if ur doing initial entry choose a hotel na libre ang wifi..nway u will enjoy d scenery nman and need not be online 24/7 wen ur there π
BANK- before we arrived in au nag fillup na kami as CBA (commonwealth bank) ng application form to open up a bank account, u can choose indvidual or joint f couple kau. n our case tag isa kami ni hubby ..tska na ang joint f may salary na ahahah. we printed the confirmation page and brought it wen we visited the bank along wd our original passports. (ung branch ng bank i choose mo sia wen u sign up online) so wen u activate the bank account punta ka mismo sa branch that u chose, after that u can visit any branch for ur bank concerns. u need a phone number if possible wen u open an account-- para dkana babalik sa branch and mag update.. pde tumawag actually but delayed ang process. so if may number kana wen u activate it they will send d temp password at the same time pra ma activate mo ang online banking. they encouraged us to do a transfer from each other (wd my hubby) jst to ensure the online banking works ) and so we can raise an issue whilst were there sa branch. meron din silang self service counters dun (ipad u can use) so u can register and do online transactions. if walakapa number then hangang activate lg ng bank account mggawa. so f initial entry ka might as well do all of this in one visit π as for the maintaining balance wlang maintaining balance hehe..wala din minimum deposit. for now tag 50aud lng laman ng account namin eheh. sa melbourne ive observed na almost lahat ng suburbs may branch ang CBA bank. sa CBD i noticed 6 or 7 branches around. ANZ and NAB is common din sa cbd but sa suburbs wala sia masyado presence. or maybe indi ko lng na notice. ok din ang online interface ng CBA prang BDO lg sa pinas hehe yellow na yellow kc π
MEDICARE- i have shared my experience on my visit in this link. pls visit nalng for those indi pa na read...http://pinoyau.info/discussion/comment/171655/#Comment_171655
it is recommended meron kaung mobile num and bank account na.. not necessary but again. if u want a one time visit sa office then just prepare it nlang. ur mobile num is required for future communcations ng centrelink and medicare (isa lng dw database) and ung bank account needed pra sa future payments ng centrelink/medicare. u may alsoupdate this later f wala tlaga. u need to bring original passport , visa grant copies for YOU AND YOUR dependents.
more stories to post mamaya heheh. s share ko ung experience ng pagbili namin ng basic necessities para alam nio ano pde dalhin pra d mapagastos sa first few months ng pag settle.. π happy to share kung happy kau mag read hehe.
also will share wat i did sa pag aaply apply ng job and tips shared by friends. including those ive researched. hope we can all learn from each other in this exciting venture sa AU π
